  1. I don't. Am I supposed to write an essay on how it was "ooh such a GREAT cache and ahhhh what a great LOCATION and ohhhhhh the HISTORY it's so AMAZING!" I've seen logs like that on history caches, but I log them like any other cache.
  2. Those are called stickers, and are used often. Perhaps it was a cut and paste email, since the OP probably isn't the first person to ask.
  3. wat I know several people who work in customer service. The customer is never right. They cheat and lie everytime.
  4. I don't understand... do history caches require special logs?
  5. Fun as these ideas may be to come up with and share, I hope no one actually uses these (and the ones in the other 372 renditions of this topic.) There's nothing wrong with geocaching and making up lies just makes people think there is. If you don't want to explain about geocaching, use the response non-creative people do: say "nothing" and they'll probably be on their way. "What are you doing?" "Nothing." "What are you looking for?" "Nothing." "What's that?" "Nothing." Why? What's wrong with young males? My friends and I are totally gonna make a game out of asking people who look like they're geocaching what they're doing and see what answers we get.
  6. Try the snotty neighbor who keep letting his dogs drop their waste on your lawn.
  7. Yes. There is always the possibility that the device will start making all of its decisions by itself. It might decide it doesn't need you one day, and you will be disposed of.
  8. Why do you say that? Geocaching's pretty popular with teenagers. I think it's important to keep NA logs available to the public. One of the great parts of geocaching is that all the cache's information is right there on the cache page. Logs from cachers who have found the cache, logs from cachers who haven't, logs from the owner, and NA logs. They're an important resource to cachers trying to decide whether to seek the cache.
  9. There's no rule that says they can't sign the logs without an account on the website. If they want to sign the logs they can, although they should remember what they signed with so they can use that name in they choose to make an account later.
  10. Copyright issues are really only present if you are selling the logo or profit from it (e.g printing it on t-shirts to sell). I don't think anyone would care if you used it as your forum avatar.
  11. Another way is to create a new Boolean value called browser.display.enable_marquee in the about:config file and set it to false.
  12. If you want to skip the log sheet then you should also skip the online log. And skip the forums while you're at it.
  13. Our camera produces some pretty high resolution images and they all upload just fine. It's usually because of a hiccup in the server. Try again later.
  14. Sometimes things like this won't work in IE for absolutely no reason at all. Try it in Firefox or Google Chrome.
  15. I read somewhere that in some countries it is very common for caches to require UV lights.
  16. You cannot adopt the cache without the owner being available to transfer it to you. Since the cache has already been archived, you could go out and pick up the container, revamp it and then rehide it and submit it as a new cache.
  17. It could be reserved for the Lost and Found attribute which will never be used.
  18. The coordinates are not publicly displayed.
  19. There was one urban cache that we looked for where we happened to have some traffic cones in the truck and put a few out. The cache and our geo-kit are on the tailgate.
  20. Not being waterproof is the least of the drawbacks of using a road navigation device for geocaching. These devices are designed to be used on roads and may be a bit less accurate than a bush unit. Also, their battery life is usually shorter and don't fit in your hand as well, since they are intended to be mounted on the windshield plugged into the cigarette lighter.
  21. Sounds like you've really got it made. Welcome to the geocaching community!
  22. You are getting your terminology mixed up. A script kiddie is someone without much (or usually any) programming knowledge who uses scripts made by others to accomplish their tasks. It does not mean someone who creates scripts.
  23. It doesn't really benefit anyone. I've never quite understood the purpose of them either. They were created originally to discourage people from looking up caches just to go muggle them, but there aren't enough people who do that to make it worth it to make a cache Premium Member only.
