+SUp3rFM & Cruella Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 My point exactly. How can we get a geocoin to set it free? Should we contact a team member from Map@Syst? Thanks for the info! Quote
+Geo.Error Posted September 17, 2008 Author Posted September 17, 2008 see this line: We have a limited amount of coins minted through Map@Syst. If you are in a state with a Geospatial Extension Specialist, you can request a Map@Syst Geocoin through them. you see in blue geospatial extension specialist. push on the blue. you get then a few people , push on there name and you get a e-mail adress. Ask then for a free geocoin to set free. Hope i am clear, if not tel me please. Quote

+Kohavis Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 At first I read the OP about the Map@Syst Geocoins, went to the websites, looked for the coins and couldn't make heads or tails of it (pun intended). After reading the replies here, I contacted Amy to request a geocoin. Thank you for this topic. This sounds like fun! Quote
+Geo-Gophers Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 (edited) I sent off an email too and had a reply (again from Amy) to say that I was in the mailing queue.....this should be fun to watch! Edited September 19, 2008 by Geo-Gophers Quote
+SUp3rFM & Cruella Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 (edited) If you are lucky enough to be sent a coin to participate in this project, please, activate and release the coin. Thank you. Actually, the coins are already activated. Geocachers will only set them "free" on a geocache. Edited September 19, 2008 by SUp3rFM & Cruella Quote
Tooeygeotrashed Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 (edited) A little mix up over projects, all sorted now Edited September 19, 2008 by Tooey Quote
+SUp3rFM & Cruella Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 You have incorrectly quoted this email - it is not from the Map@Syst team at all - it is connection with another Geocoin project called - "Uniting the World" it has nothing to do with the Map@Syst coin. You're absolutely correct! I haven't heard from that project since July and today I got that message. Messed up! Uff! The only thing for sure is that the coin being sent is already activated. I'll edit the original message. Please edit my quote, do the same to avoid misunderstandings. Thank you very much for the head's up! Quote
+Geo.Error Posted September 19, 2008 Author Posted September 19, 2008 (edited) edit::: THANKS TOOEY, you get a big hug from me. Whootttttttttt Edited September 19, 2008 by Geo.Error Quote
+burgessfour Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Hi All We just got an email from Amy that said "We are sending out a coin to your addy. Thanks so much for the help and interest!" Woo Hoo Can't wait to release it! Quote
+River Cacher Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 I got the email and said I would get one shortly. I can't wait Quote
+ivanidea Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 As above. Looking forward to releasing it in Staffordshire, UK. Quote
+burgessfour Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 If you are lucky enough to be sent a coin to participate in this project, please, activate and release the coin. Thank you. Actually, the coins are already activated. Geocachers will only set them "free" on a geocache. When I asked Amy if they had a specific mission she wrote that they don't, but if I wanted to come up with one she would give the coin my mission; I thought that was pretty neat and might make it even more fun for the "launcher"! +grodan & fiabus Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 I´m added to the mailque for releasing a coin in Sweden. grodan Karin Quote
+luckycharmer Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 I sent an e-mail to our nearest Specialist and got this response back as part of an e-mail "I am going to copy this to Amy Hays who is kind of the "Keeper of the Geocoins" for Map@Syst. Perhaps she may have another coin that can be sent out." She did e-mail me to say she was sending a coin. Sounds like fun. Quote
+Tarot Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 I have also contacted Amy, who has kindly put me onto the mailing queue. As soon as I receive the coin it will be released in the NW of England UK. Tarot Quote

+hollora Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Amy contacted me and I have one on the way. We have exchanged several pleasant emails sharing information. Can't wait for my coin to arrive. Quote
+GATOULIS Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 A coin for free??? WOW!!! Can I ask something? Well, the receivers will adopt or activate the coin under their name, right? They will write the mission according to what they will be told from the site.... Will the coin travell for ever? I mean, can a geocacher- owner, put a mission like to travel until 2010 and then come back to a specific cache to grab it and keep it? Just asking!!! Quote
hiker24 Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 sent an email now!! fingers crossed! Quote
