My pet LOVE!

I'm encouraging people (and myself!) to take more pictures and remember to post them in cache logs!

We need more pictures! :)

This is a spin off from my complaint :o in the "My pet hate" thread.

There aren't enough pictures in cache logs and trackable logs! Course, some caches get a lot, but there's sadly quite a few that get little or none at all. Even caches that you'd think should have pictures (beautiful views, something unusual), can surprise you. I'll look for a gallery and be surprised at the lack of photos.

Even simple caches deserve pictures. Obviously not everyone can or wants to take pictures of every cache they go to, but I wish that there were a higher rate of them. Lately, I've been going out of my way to make sure and take pictures, especially for these lonely caches that don't have any. I'm starting to try my best to take a picture of every tb and coin, as well.

I can't believe how many pictures I've taken and either forgotten or put off uploading them to cache logs. It can take too long or be tedious. But it's really worth it. People appreciate looking at the photos, and it's also great over the years, just as a photo journal for yourself and your family!

Discussions, thoughts, pictures....? Post them here. I searched and couldn't find just a general thread for pictures that people have taken and posted to cache logs over time. Post the name of the cache if you can. :D

There's different kinds that I thought of off the top of my head, even though some of them overlap. Natural things (flowers, plants, insects, animals), views, people, interesting things, unremarkable/normal things.

I'll start out with a few pictures in the unremarkable/normal category (for lack of a better name), just to show the ones that get posted to cache logs the least.

Alright I'll be honest. Four of those pictures are spoilers so I haven't decided whether I want to post them to the cache log or not. One other, like I said below it, was a hunt for Mother's Day. But I used them because they showed the types of caches that usually get overlooked in regards to pictures. I honestly was having a difficult time finding caches that were mundane because I haven't been to very many in my opinion. But at the same time, like I said before, even caches that you would think would have pictures on them get overlooked a lot.

You're not weird. :D I think the most that I've uploaded to one log was about 60 pictures. I regularly put lots of pictures in logs.

But I have so many pictures that I've taken but not uploaded. I have over 1500 pictures in my gallery, and I'm guessing that I could probably almost double it if I caught myself up. :) I either forget that I haven't uploaded it, or I just get so overwhelmed that I put it off indefinitely. :D I'll never catch up to ODragon. :o:D

Well, I decided to post here my favorite pictures from caches & TBs I'd remember to upload pictures to before our HD crashed and we lost 90% of our pictures. My husband is a Hobbyist Photographer and takes pictures all the time. Kinda works out. I get to find a cache and he gets to take pictures. Anywho I will add the name and a few are pictures others have uploaded to my TBs.

Okay this one Jerry took at the location of "Legend of Greenbush"

Sorry it's so big...

This one I took for a TB: "Banner's Bug"

It came out WAY better then I thought it would. I was holding the TB *as seen* in my left hand and taking the pic with my right hand. I like "Point and Shoot" cameras

One for "Don't Bet the Farm" TB:

This place was pretty neat. We took out right after Jerry got off work (at 11pm) and was headed to Minnesota. This Casino is located pretty much in the middle of NOWHERE,USA... Or it seams... It was in the middle of the night... We may just not been able to see anything else for the fact it was dark, we could see the lights about 20 miles away.

That's all I have for now.

Here are some I took along the Oregon and Washington coast from caches (or close to them).

This was taken just as I arrived at the cache site on the Washington coast.

These next two were along the Oregon coast.

Ok, I'm going to make an effort to take and post more pictures. I used to do this on a regular basis, but I guess I got lazy. The pictures aren't only good for the cache owners and trackable owners, their good for me - I enjoy going back to my old logs and looking at the pictures.

I definately encourage pics in logs unless they spoiler a creative hide. Other than that.......go crazy! Plus, I like seeing pics of geocachers that I've seen in a lot of the physical logs. When I see their pics I'm like "wow! thats so and so. I figured they younger" or something along those lines.

Wow, seeing these pictures really make me wish I had gotten into geocaching back when my husband was stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA! Prime caching areas

I try to remember to take pictures, but am pretty bad about remembering to upload the pictures to the computer before I log my finds.

Thanks for the thoughts about log pictures. I'm glad that this thread can help encourage people to take more pictures. B)

I would bet there's quite a few people who take the pictures but don't load them. All those poor, missing pictures. B)

Um, I gotta go load some pictures. See ya later. :(B)

Oh, I hate that. I had that happen to me, I fortunately took a picture of it before it disapeared.

Oops...wrong pet peeve.

Cool that there's at least a bit of memory for the poor thing. :(

Of course I am weirder than most give me credit for B)

I want to thank you for making get up off my hindend and uploading some long pictures lol.

I have to admit that, of the four pics I posted here, only one of them was posted to the cache log. The problem was, I took so many pictures along the coast that I forgot which cache they belonged to. I have to take better notes on my pictures.

I only have 23 finds to my name but every single one has photos  It's something I make a point of doing.

I figure that because I can't really contribute by placing caches right now (emigrating fairly soon), then interesting logs & some photos are the least I can do in a bid to give something back.

Find the turkey grouse (thanks gorillagal) in the picture.

We were on our way to this cache when we spotted this.

I'm a firm believer in pictures with cache logs and on the cache pages. I have plans to do plenty more.

I've got my fair share of photos uploaded with my logs, but a lot of them never leave my hard drive. I don't like uploading spoilers, and I haven't built a personal website or uploaded photos to one of the online services (flickr, photobucket, etc.). So, they just sit.

One thing I'm doing lately is documenting so-called "lame" hides that take me to interesting places, or where interesting things occur. Here is an example -- a lamp post cache that isn't in a parking lot, but rather in a field of wildflowers. Since it's a spoiler I won't say where the photo was taken.

I almost always have my camera with me when caching. The only time I don't is when I forget it. As a biologist, I end up taking lots of pictures of wildlife and wildflowers. Lately, insects have been my favorite subject. I do post pictures to caches, but I admit, it's only been on a fraction of the caches I've found. As far as tb's go, I usually only post a picture when they're requested by the owner. Here's a few of my favorite cache or tb photos:

gorillagal I think your right! Good catch!!

When we first saw them, that was our gut reaction and never stopped to rethink it.

We saw several in different areas. I wonder how many we didn't see but they saw us. :)

Wow, there are some great photos here. One of my favorite things is to go to people's profiles and look through their photo galleries. I wish people could flag their account as "I like to take photos" and have it show up next to their username (with a camera icon or something). Ambrosia and briansnat have quite a few! Anyway, thanks for sharing these.

I take my camera with me every time and try to post when I get decent shots. I've had lens issues lately though. I think that my favorite lens is pooping out on me. :)

I have to wonder, too, if the local cachers are going to get sick of seeing pictures of my kids. It's a good thing I have 4 of them, for some variety. :)

I love, love, love seeing other's pictures on logs!

I've been trying to make an effort to plost more pitcures to cache logs myself. Especially as most cache logs have tended toward simple found it notes more than anything. I've been especially into doing the same for TBs. They're supposed to gather stories along the way, right? But most I've moved usually have little more than a series of brief notes about finding.dropping them and little else.

So I headed out for some geocaching today specifically with this topic in mind. Got to the first cache, reached for the camera to take some pictures, and the batteries that I thought I had charged were dead. :)

Too bad, because later on I found a cache near a really interesting quarry. I would have loved to take some pictures. Next time, I'll try to be more prepared when heading out.
