John Stead
Reading the topic about whether of not to pay for premium membership has started me thinking!!! If potential cachers may be put off by what they read here (and I hope noone is), in fact how many cachers do in fact read the forum at all? I know I could research this myself but probably someone else has and can answer quickly, so why reinvent the wheel? Any ideas? Link to comment

The_Botherers
I don't know whether its measurable who actually reads the forums but I have noticed that there are usually quite a few guests signed in (and anonymous users for whatever reason). I might be wrong but when I read guests I think that these are people that have not registered yet and are maybe looking for ideas how to get started, which gps etc. Link to comment
Geo-Kate
That just shows who is logged in, these forums can be browsed without signing in. We would never know about the casual browsers who look around here for a while and then go again! Unless the server logged IPs of everybody who popped in for a look, we cannot know how many people read things on here! Link to comment
Sensei TSKC
Which cachers read the forum is an unknown UNLESS they are 1. logged in 2. Are seen to be logged in by someone who is going to collate the information. The other thing you could consider doing is seeing how many of the registered members of the forum are actively posting. Don't bother asking me though. Oss! Link to comment

McDeHack
Ask yourself. How many other forums does one visit just to see what is what? I do often. If what I see is of interest and seems reasonable sensible, I will log in. If not, I am what you could say. Just passing through. Link to comment

Boardslider
Well, my 'other' hobby is kitesurfing, and estimates on there run to about 10% of kiters actually participate in the main UK forums, with perhaps another 10% 'lurking'. Now this place is a bit different, because to actually participate in geocaching it's necessary to get online to find and log (although I hear some don't do that) the caches. I suspect the admins could get some sort of idea, by searching for the number of registered UK members of GC.com and the posting stats here. This would not identify the lurkers, but might give you an idea..... Edited April 6, 2006 by Boardslider Link to comment
