  1. Thanks people for your support and ideas. I have considered one of the suggestions, and at present it is under negotiation.
  2. This what happens when organisations such as Geocaching.com get too big and silly rules are made. For the life of me why and what is wrong for a person to be able to adopt a cach such as this? When I first started caching it was so simple. Put in co-ords into the Etrex, and go find the Tupperware. The caches were few and far between. These days it seems that almost every street corner has a micro hidden some where. My interest faded when some time ago I did a round trip of 150 miles just to find 11 caches. OK it was interesting to go to different places with friends to find these plastic boxes. But the friends interest also waned and went on to other hobbies. Age has caught up with me and I am not so mobile. The mind is willing but the body is not. I did start to have another try earlier this year , but I found it was to difficult to clamber over fallen logs and get caught up in brambles. So that's it. I shall keep that cache going for a little longer and then archive it.
  3. That is a pity. It is such a popular one as it does take the visitor to an unknown historic location. So what would happen when I am not able to answer the finders of this cache as names are required for logging. I suppose the only answer is to archive it, which is a pity. Anyone got any ideas how we can get around this?

  5. I am looking for a London based cacher to adopt my last cache. This is a virtual and has been running for about 11 years. Due to certain circumstances I cannot own this cache much longer. PM me if interested. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GC22E5
  6. Thanks. I realised that I had put the 'other post' in the wrong place.
  7. As the title. How can I delete caches from the Etrex 20? Can I do it from the Etrex, or do I have to do it via a PC? If so how?
  8. A simple question. With an Etrex 20, how do you delete caches? Can this be done with the Etrex or do I have to do it via the PC? How?
  9. Is this GPS still available McDeHack? If so, I'm interested in making you an offer. Make me an offer. I have answered your PM.
  10. I am selling my Etrex 20. It was purchased in May 2012 and has only been used for about 5 outings. Due to dodgy knees I can no longer participate in the hobby. The unit is in as new condition and I still have the original box and documents. I am looking for the best offer around £100. It can be paid and collected NE London, PayPal, or cheque (posted when cleared). I will let this run for 7 days and sell to highest offer.
  11. One of my caches has had 1,000 visits GC22E5. I wonder if this is any sort of record for a UK cache. I expect that there are other caches around that may have had more.
  12. I also got an apology from them. I posted on their Facebook wall. Craghoppers. Malcom, a lack of research for our geocaching video has resulted in a misrepresentation of the hobby. We've removed the video and supporting material and are working on a re-edit to be approved asap. We've so sorry that this has happened, please see our promoted post for the official statement of apology from Jim our MD. Please let us know if there's anything more we can do! 13. I am at the present in St Osyth. No lion seen. Only a big brown pussy cat.
  14. Well they say that you cannot catch a cold from the rain or cold but the air bourne Virus of it.I don't know if Geocaching is a virus, but it is so easy to catch it in many different environments. In your case I would say yes.
  15. I think you have to wait untill the leaves start to die and collect them and dry them. Most people then roll them into fags. You can sprinkle them into biscuit pastry and bake. Puts a bit of life into the old dears tea parties.
  16. Welcome to the 'fun'. I don't know much about the iPhone for caching, but if you intend to stick with it then I would suggest you get a dedicated GPS tool. As for the embarrassment of poking around in bushes... Get a dog Great for an excuse for poking around bushes and other strange places. Me. Although I have a dog that I take with me. If anyone gets nosy, I tell them that I am looking for a UFO that landed here someplace. They soon clear off.
  17. What would happen if you just signed out, would this help?
  18. If I read this correct, it seems like 'armchair geocahing'. These trackables may no longer exist, or are they logging trackables that are active. I personably cannot see the point. Or is it a numbers game?
  19. This is what I did to get my cache lists to my Etrex. But I noticed that with Basecamp, when it showed the caches, the ones that I had done and these were the ones I wanted to delete where shown as the 'chest' was open. As I had a few, just seeing the gpx file I would not remember which ones I had done, and which ones I had to do.
  20. As Sussamb suggested I downloaded Basecamp to my PC plugged in the Etrex, and the rest was so easy. For me... If it works why fix it? You can have too much to play with and then it get complicated.
  21. Thanks. I have not got 'Basecamp' but I will go get it. I suppose that this has to be loaded on my PC and hook up the Etrex?
