Archaic Charmer

I notice he has just FTF this cache , on the day it was published (possible but rare, especially as he isn't a local cacher)Barnsley Park Walk by the Haigies

Did he actually visit?

Macroderma

If I was you I would go and get a real FTF on this, the account is just some Armchair Cacher and as SP pointed out in a previous thread, it is an anagram Archaic Charmer ~ Armchair Cacher.

Also I would email the owner and see if he will delete the logs.

Archaic Charmer has logged many caches I own and now I just delete without visiting; he/she can log then 100 times if he likes and there will be 100 deletions, he/she will get fed up soon.

so this is where it does start to affect other cachers. I use a PQ set as m home page to keep me bang up to date on FTF opportunities (together with other methods) and both of these would not appear now. Also, if there was a problem with the new caches (mistake in coords or something - always possible!) then this wouldn't be apparent.

I know there is nothing we can do really (or can TPTB close the account?) so maybe a quiet word in the owners ear would be good? Oh, and point them at these forums!

I'm with Moote here - not even going to check if a log shows up.

Funnily enough I was up in Ablington the other day and bagged a FTF on Ablington Downs - I beat AC to that one!

I won't be able to get up there for a few days, so I expect someone else will visit before me

You really shouldn't have made reference to the HarryKrishna discussion thread, I was reading the comments and happened to come across this.....

Here's an entry on one of his cache logs:

"I packed up and was ready to leave when I was joined by a Burlington police officer who gave me a citation. Apparently I wasn't discrete enough this time and someone spotted me and called them. I have a mandatory court appearance at 8:30am on Wednesday the 17th at the Burlington Municipal Court nearby. I plan to plead 'Not Guilty' to the charge 'made an open and obscene exposure of his person to another, knowing that the conduct was likely to cause reasonable alarm.' I'll start a thread in the Northwest Forums to post the law and my defense and to keep everyone up on the details. Wish me luck."

Takes all sorts I guess

Hurrah, my first post, but wish it was for something more enjoyable. Fancy some-one doing a virtual Gate / Cache Crash. The Wombles told me they existed but didn't really understand what they get out of it.

The location was only posted last night and there was no way he could have found it straight after that, unless his GPSr has the optional WSTT (Warp Speed Time Travel) attachment. Ho hum. I've deleted his post and the race is back on to find my Barnsley Park Walk Cache :(

Good luck and hello to all my new found friends

ARCHAIC CHARMER

A man of few words. "thanks", or "thanks, great cache", or "thanks, nice cache". Never, it has to be said, does it include "Signed Log".

He was certainly busy on 18Jan06 when he 'visited' Wild Boar Fell (GCQC71). It took me 4 hours today of hard walking to do my maintenance visit. I think I need to borrow his helicopter. What with all the other caches he visited that day it's hardly surprising he didn't have time to sign the log ...

ARCHAIC CHARMER is an anagram of ARMCHAIR CACHER

He doesn't do them!

As already mentioned he is now affecting peoples stats, not on GC.com, because a FTF is just noted as the first to log the cache, and if his log is deleted then it doesn't make much difference. But for the people who keep an eye on their stats on G:UK.com then a FTF does affect the stats, as that records the first person to log the cache as a find, and keeps that record.

So it may not affect GC.com but it does affect it's customers. I see other sock puppets getting banned for saying something wrong on the forums, but this one gets left despite annoying people within the community.

As a note I am fairly sure that the person reads these forums, better getting a kick out of this on the internet rather than looking at pornography I suppose?

G:UK seems to class it as a FTF if you find it on the first day it is found, I've got a few FTF in my G:UK stats that were second to find etc...

That's interesting - we had one FTF on GUK, but didn't remember being FTF at all. We now have 5, having been 2nd TF four times on the same day recently. I still don't remember what the first one was.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Yes we do, there is no log time in the data so all logs on the first day count as FTF

Thanks for that. Having looked at our logs again, I think the "FTF" I couldn't remember must have been the event we attended. All is clear now.

Barrys cache stats say no FTF's Bikerkats stats I am not sure how Barry does it (I must ask him) but I am guessing he only counts logs that also say FTF or first to find etc

So cachetools page will give a better guess on ftf

I'm even more confused now!

I was looking here:

BikerKats stats

where it says 5 virgin caches defiled. I asumed that meant FTF!
