+rutson Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Why is this place 'bad'? Is it the 'worst' in England? N52° 03.364 W2° 45.670 No prizes, just for fun. Also for the adventurous, can you find similarly bad places in Wales, Scotland, Ireland and therefore British Isles? Quote
+MarcB Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Is it the place with the least number of caches (none) in a certain radius? MarcB Quote
+Pengy&Tigger Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 There certainly isn`t a huge amount of caches around there is there.... (Note: Don`t got to Hereford on a caching trip). Pengy Quote
Deego Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 (edited) Is it because everyone thinks they are in the SAS and are "Dead hard" Edited January 28, 2005 by Deego Quote
+Alibags Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Is it because there is 'Ruckhall' around there? (zoom out and you will see what I mean!). Quote
+stu_and_sarah Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 I'll go with MarcB's answer. Can't find anywhere worse. I had an inkling there might be somewhere in Lincolnshire, but they seem to be building up a little now. Stu Quote
+mongoose39uk Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 something to do with everyone including Boudica being wiped out? Quote
+John Stead Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 I think MarkB is on to it - but would have put it as the point furthest from a geocache. Quote
+Simply Paul Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 (edited) I don't think it can be the point furthest from a cache in England as the nearest one is 15.3 miles North and 16 miles to the South. So a point a little further south would be more 'remote' - maybe? Anyway, there must be lonely corners of the fens more than 15.3 miles from a cache. My bet goes to it being the point furthest, on average, from every cache in England. Wild guess SP Update: Doing a little research, the centre of England, based on the 'Gravitational Method' (if England was a cardboard cut-out, where would the point at which it'd balance on a pen tip be) is said to be a small farm near the town of Fenny Drayton in Leicestershire. Or, for the traditionalist, Meriden - where there's a monument saying it's the centre of England. Either way it's a LONG WAY away from the spot given above. Unless there's a huge shortage of caches in one area the cache-centre and the geographic-centre of England should be within a few dozen miles, at least. So, I have to say I think MarcB got it right first time. Edited January 28, 2005 by Simply Paul Quote
+stu_and_sarah Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Next question, of course, is: Does nobody in Hereford have a GPS? Do you get dispatched by the SAS as soon as you try to place a cache within 15 miles? What's the deal? Stu Quote
+CrazyCucumber Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 (edited) I would have thought that This is the most EVIL place ? check the long / lat co-ords ( decimal ) Edited January 28, 2005 by CrazyCucumber Quote
+harrogate hunters Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Its not in the middle of a sewage works, in particular a processing plant ? If so, is special equiment needed in order to retrieve the box that will soon be placed there ? Quote

motherduck Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Now I now how "The only gay in the village" feels. Leave Hereford alone,I know were VERY short of caches but I do hope to rectify this soon I've printed off all the paperwork I think I'll need for the Forestry Commision and Nature Trust and its looking hopeful for one of my local landowners. By the way what is wrong with Brienton church or springs? Quote
+Belplasca Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Is it all the sixes in the multimap url? Bob Aldridge Quote
+rutson Posted January 28, 2005 Author Posted January 28, 2005 The answer I was looking for was that after about 10 minutes of searching, this seems to close to the point in England such that it is furthest from the nearest cache. It is not exact, and there maybe somewhere better, but I can't find it! Quote
+sTeamTraen Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 Eeh, that's nothing. You think you've got it tough ? Try looking around N 48° 21.100 E 004° 00.000. Now if that doesn't make me the only gay in the village, I don't know what does Quote

+rutson Posted January 28, 2005 Author Posted January 28, 2005 A bit more tweaking, and I reckon this is it 52°03.284'N, 2°45.714'W 15.3 miles away from it's nearest active cache. Anyone beat that? Quote
+GAZ Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005 I did a cache near HERE a couple of years ago! Quote

+sTeamTraen Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 (edited) I can beat my previous record: 97.2km in each of two directions to the nearest cache from here. And only 28 caches within the 100 mile "limit". Huh. France eh ? Compare that with the 73 caches within 100 miles of this one... which is in Saudi Arabia, for crying out loud !!
