+LeatherKnight
So many other sports have songs that are their "anthem" like baseball has Take me out to the Ball Game and hockey has the Silver Cup song etc. What could be the theme song for geocaching? Does anyone have the talent to write and arrange one or could this be a group project? I tried to alter the old GI Joe theme song to suit the purpose. You know, instead of "G.I. Joe" it's "G.E.O." and so forth. Lyrics to rearrange, for those who want to give it a shot: GI Joe He'll fight for freedom wherever there is trouble, G.I. Joe is there! G.I. Joe... A Real American Hero G.I. Joe is there. Its G.I. Joe against Cobra and Destro, Fighting to save the day. He never gives up, he's always there, Fighting for freedom over land and air. G.I. Joe... A Real American Hero G.I. Joe is there. (spoken) G.I. Joe is the codename for America's daring, highly trained, special mission force. Its purpose: To defend human freedom against Cobra, a ruthless, terrorist organization determined to rule the world. He never gives up, he'll stay till the fights won - G.I. Joe will dare. G.I. Joe... A Real American Hero G.I. Joe! As you can see, these lyrics are ripe for altering into geo-relative terms. Feel free to post your suggestions here, or E-mail me at wneilson@tds.net if you feel they're too cheesy to air in public. I haven't found a place where you can download the song for free, but there's a variety of ways you can get it from this site cheap. No music collection is complete without the GI Joe theme, mind you. If anyone wants to take a crack at composing something of their own, I'd really like to hear it. I love singing relevent songs while doing tasks. I almost took a job on a railroad, just to be able to sing, "I've been working on the railroad" and mean it. Corny?? Who said that? I could have sworn I heard someone mutter, "Corny?" Nah, impossible. Quote Link to comment
+LeatherKnight
Doh! And why didn't this show up on my search for a "geocaching theme song?? Apparently I don't know how to use the search option. Ah well, back to the singing board. Quote Link to comment

+LeatherKnight
Signal in the Sky huh,BrianSnat? It sounds very appropriate. I'll have to find a place to listen to it. Ring Wing Wacko has something with lunatics on the grass. The Jester knows all about meteorological events in Western Washington. Still, I prefer "Singing in the Rain," while I cache in Washington. It's more upbeat, you know? I'm singing in the rain Just singing in the rain What a glorious feeling I'm happy again I'm laughing at clouds So dark up above The sun's in my heart And I'm ready for love For love Let the stormy clouds chase Everyone from the place Come on with the rain I've a smile on my face I'll walk down the lane With a happy refrain Singing, singing in the rain In the rain. La... I'm singing in the rain Just singing in the rain What a glorious feeling I'm happy again I walk down the lane With a happy refrain I'm singing, singing in the rain In the rain In the rain Jeff35080 loves one of my favorite songs too! Did you ever see that Star Trek: The Next Generation show where some of the crew was teleported back in time (yeah, I know, that happened every other episode) and met the Father of Warp Drive? Before he made his maiden voyage at warp speed he almost aborted the mission because he couldn't find his tape. When he did, we were all treated to the blaring strains of Steppenwolf's "Magic Carpet Ride." I loved it. Earthdog Patrick likes Steppenwolf too, whereas Lone Duck has more in common with the seven dwarves. And there's PrettynWitty with her Willie Nelson songs. Good fun! Thanks for giving me so much food for thought, folks. If I'd realized this subject was a dead horse, I would not have started it. I'm up to speed now, or as close to speed as I get. +Snoogans
I played this song in camp at the Texas Challenge. Everyone agreed that it was a great geocaching song. All My Life by Foo Fighters All my life I've been searching for something something never comes never leads to nothing nothing satisfies but I'm getting close closer to the prize at the end of the rope all night long I dream of the day when it comes around and it's taken away leaves me with the feeling that I feel the most feel it come to life when I see your ghost calm down don't you resist you've such a delicate wrist and if I give it a twist something to hold when I lose my grip will I find something in there to give me just what I need another reason to bleed one by one hidden up my sleeve Don't let it go to waste, I love it but I hate the taste weight keep pinning me down will I find a believer another one who believes another one to deceive over and over down on my knees if I get any closer and if you open up wide and if you let me inside on and on I've got nothing to hide then I'm done done on to the next one done and I'm done and I'm on to the next Sn gans Quote Link to comment

Black Mage
This is my theme song for the Summer, and I think that it could work for geocaching as well. I'm Not Coming In by Stuart Hill Sun's up, I hit the floor Shoes tied, I'm out the door Is this a clean shirt? I think it was one yesterday Free day, I'm on the phone No plans, I got the cell on I call the boys up Spend a little time outside today Never liked for you to hear where I gotta be Never liked for you to be told what I gotta see I like no commitment strollin' up around me I'm not coming in anymore Everything I want and need is just outside this door I'm not coming in anymore I've got too many friends on the outside That don't include you Go ahead and think all you might All my friends and I ain't on the inside All kinds of facts and probabilites You say well I found a reason I say well remember all the seasons You scream with endless possiblities Spend a lot of time trying to convince me My friends have two strikes against me Well I swing for the fences So that must make strike three That's fine by me I'm not coming in anymore Everything I want and need is just outside this door I'm not coming in anymore I've got too many friends on the outside That don't include you Don't include you Nothing ever seems right Like it does when I want to stop Pain in the right speed, kick in the right bite I like things familiar And I don't belong here Don't belong here I'm not coming in anymore Everything I want and need is just outside this door I'm not coming in anymore I've got too many friends on the outside The playing's on the outside It don't include you Not coming in Not coming in Not getting back no more No more........ You can download it here. Edited June 28, 2004 by Black Mage Quote Link to comment
Jamethiel
Some of my favorite caching songs have come from the strangest places. Right now, I'm kinda big on Wandering Star from Paint your Wagon: ************* BORN UNDER A WANDERIN' STAR I was born under a wanderin' star. I was born under a wanderin' star. Wheels are made for rollin', mules are made to pack. I've never seen a site that didn't look better lookin' back. I was born under a wanderin' star. Mud can make you prisoner and the plains can bake you dry. Snow can burn your eyes but only people make you cry. Home is made for comin' from, for dreams of goin' to. Which with any luck will never come true. I was born under a wanderin' star. I was born under a wanderin' star. Do I know where hell is, hell is in hell-o. Heaven is good-bye forever it's time for me to go. I was born under a wanderin' star, a wanderin', wanderin' star. Mud can make you prisoner and the plains can bake you dry. Snow can burn your eyes but only people make you cry. Home is made for comin' from, for dreams of goin' to. Which with any luck will never come true. I was born under a wanderin' star. I was born under a wanderin' star. When I get to heaven tie me to a tree. Or I'll begin to roam and soon you'll know where I will be. I was born under a wanderin' star. A wanderin', wanderin' star. **************************** I just change Roam to Geocache and call it good. Also, Movin right along by the Muppets is great and upbeat, as is U2's Still haven't found what I'm looking for. But this stanza from the theme song to Paint your Wagon is my favorite: When am I goin'? I don't know Where am I headin'? I ain't certain All that I know Is I am on my way Hope you are having fun with the music! -Jennifer Quote Link to comment
