geojoeinusa Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 Hey fellow cachers check out my new pagethe geocache underground Do you need to cheat a little
+CYBret Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 It's been done before. Also in a Yahoo group. However, that time it was done by someone who knew how to post an URL in the forums. Bret
+welch Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 Hey fellow cachers check out my new pagethe geocache underground Do you need to cheat a little hmm... call you a troll and ask for censorship? or.... go with the thread to not be off topic? um... Do you have 'cheats' for any good caches, I might actually want to log??
+Bloencustoms Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 (edited) Silly, you can only cheat if you're in some kind of competition. Let me know when you "win" geocaching. Edited December 3, 2003 by Bloencustoms
+Renegade Knight Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 I like it. Just let me be FTF on this cache I solved a month ago but have not gotten out to look for yet...
+Navdog Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 Hey fellow cachers check out my new pagethe geocache underground Do you need to cheat a little Umm, whats the point? Do I gain or learn anything by cheating?
+Planet Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 Silly, you can only cheat if you're in some kind of competition. Let me know when you "win" geocaching. You slay me.
+El Diablo Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 I like the new avatar, Planet. It is pretty cool...and origianl. I like it! El Diablo
+Renegade Knight Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 Paris with no frogs? That is a good avitar! (take it in stride people!)
muggler Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 (edited) Maybe we can all cheat like CCCooperagency does! Find a friend who will put a cache in places you have never been and then give you the credit for hiding it! Or getting others to help hide caches in Hawaii, Utah, Maine, and Florida while you get the credit without ever setting foot in the state and ALL IN THE SAME DAY! Or logging virtual caches without even visiting them http://listserv.azgeocaching.com/pipermail...ber/005019.html And I notice that the famous/infamous CCCooperAgency has already claimed a "first find" (even though they admit in the log that they haven't visited the site yet. But what they do and don't do are topics for another thread.) and http://www.idahogeocachers.org/forum/viewt...9&page=#pid1353 By the way, CCCooperAgency is just a family of 4 (parents and two kids). The mom of the family is the one who is the full-time geocacher. The reason that their finds seem to be nationwide is that they logged finds on a lot of virtuals early on that didn't require verification, or for which verification could be found online. They took a lot of flak for that (as did others), and it led to the requirement that virtual caches require verification for proof of visit. Or [edited] get JoGPS to help you with a speed record attempt by finding all the caches ahead of time then driving you to each one of them [EDITED]! It is a shame because they do find a lot of caches, but they just feel the need to cheat at times. [EDITED] [Edited to remove personal attacks and known falsehoods.] Edited December 4, 2003 by Keystone Approver
muggler Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 http://www.johnnielacy.com/2002_05_01_archive.html Here is a rant from me about geocaching. Well it is more about a cacher, CCCooperAgency This cacher in very poor taste in my oppinion made a virual cache just to log their 1000 find. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=23679 A 1000 my foot. They or he or whatever don't go the caches they log out of town. Case and point. They logged my virual Picketts Mill from Penn. That cause me to change the cache so the answer could not be found on the internet. Later I deleted there find. Then they logged again with this comment. User comments: I have a printed out version of all 1,000 caches found AND approved since 5/25/01. This cache was JUST deleted within past 24 hrs (5/28/02) by SOMEONE. I will forgive 1 mistake - ANY further will be reported to Jeremy. At this point I archived it with this log. this site was being logged by non visitors, and the place was not open for visitors except on weekends in the summer mouths, best to just close it down in the best interest of geo cachers over all. thanks I have not been happy with this virual at all, and this was all I needed to archived it. The straw that broke the camels back. It an't over yet. They logged it again today: User comments: CACHE OWNER APPROVED our find 2/22/02. Log was deleted 3 months AFTER it was APPROVED/GEOCACHING ADM has been notified. Sorry that this action had to be taken but right is right. this after I archived it. More later I sure. PS I deleted it again.
+welch Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 Maybe we can all cheat like CCCooperagency does! CHOP! No idea if what you say is true or complete BS but its definently against current forum rules!
+Harrald Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 Bitter, Party of one......your table is ready!!

+Planet Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 Thanks for the avatar compliments! I took that shot from the Trocadero in paris looking across to the Eiffel Tower on my last trip. The pigeon and the graffiti just said it all about Paris. Little did I know there is a cache on the Eiffel Tower! But I was there a month before I started caching Now to be on topic, I do not agree with CCC's method of caching either, but this is no reason to get that personal in a public forum. IMHO

+Polgara Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 This is really pissing me off. Some cachers go the extra mile to put out a creative challenging cache hunt and now this crap comes along. I can see it now, fake virts logged everywhere. Quitters never win, winners never quit. All quitters head to geocheat.
+fivegallon Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 (edited) Is it possible to cheat at something that is not a competition? Can't quite get the head around that! Very SAD! And Leet speak.........FFS! Not required here Edited December 4, 2003 by fivegallon
+Patuxent Pirates Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 I would think that since it really isn't a competition that it would be impossible to cheat anyone but yourself if you go out there and log caches you didn't locate. Our goals for geocaching are personal and have no relevance to anyone else. It is bad though if others diminished the sport of the game by logging false finds. Not sure that getting tips on how to approach it cheating as much as that is.

+La Paloma Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 Re: CCCooper Agency. I live in North Alabama. They are from Pennsylvania. I just happened to be at my "Go Fly a Kite" cache when they arrived in person on a Sunday afternoon to log it. Extremely nice folks- I'm proud I got to meet them and also proud they logged my cache.
+robert Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 Quite a gang of kids they got there, eh La Paloma? I've spent a good bit of time with them and their children as well, and they're a decent family. They've always gotten flak for their number of finds but you know what, it's not about the numbers. It's about the people you meet and the places you see along the way.
+pnew Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 First one to log a million wins! They're fluffety; they're puffety; 6..7..8..9..10!

geojoeinusa Posted December 8, 2003 Author Posted December 8, 2003 I just posted something about kites at yahoo. This is too fun!!!
