  1. I get the magazine..the article was really good. Hat's off to Paint, the Federation, and the rest of the NEFGA group for the positive media exposure.
  2. Let's see here... You want to "require" a person to maintain a cache that was put out voluntarily for your entertainment? Why do you want to punish the cache owner?? So what if it was a little wet. Take ziplog bags with you and a new log in your backpack. Fix it.
  3. Re: CCCooper Agency. I live in North Alabama. They are from Pennsylvania. I just happened to be at my "Go Fly a Kite" cache when they arrived in person on a Sunday afternoon to log it. Extremely nice folks- I'm proud I got to meet them and also proud they logged my cache.
  4. $3.00??? The enjoyment I've received from caching is priceless! I've been to some wonderful places I never would have visited and met interesting people I would never have met otherwise. I'm proud knowing my little membership fee is helping to support Geocaching. I pay for other things I enjoy-movies, dinner, cable TV, etc. - I really don't see the difference (except this is WAY cheaper- Unless you add the cost of the gas and the GPSr! :D ) No- I see absolutely nothing wrong with MO caches Joe- and I hope to get down your way sometime to find yours. Thanks!! P.S. A 12 month membership comes to just $2.50 a month.
  5. If you don't make the effort to move the bug, why should you take credit??
  6. Wow!! Thanks guys! I'm a little nervous about trying it but the instructions are great! Super page Robert! Thanks again, Joan
  7. Hello, I recently adopted several cached that belonged to a friend that passed away following a lengthy illness. One of them (GC4A20-Dead Drop Pink) disapeared while he was sick and he was unable to replace it. On September24 I did replace it and emailed Geocaching.com but so far haven't heard back. If I am being impatient please forgive me. Thanks so much, La Paloma
  8. Hi Folks, I have a Garmin GPS V. (For almost 2 years.) Recently a friend had a Legend stolen (that probably ended up in a pawn shop) and as a result I am now very interested in personalizing the opening screen. Please forgive me but the forum searches I have done are a little conflicting..Some say it can't be done anymore depending on the version of Emap?? (How do I know what version of Emap I have? Please forgive my ignorance.) I found some posts as recent as August where the owners were sucessful. I have updated to GPS V software version 2.3. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  9. Your driving habits! 1. Driving 5 mph in a 40 mph zone. 2. Sudden stops. 3. U-turns. 4. Improper use of turn signals. (Clarification-no use of turn signals.) 5. Parking in forbidden zone.
  10. Sorry, but I also agree that the "approach strategy" is part of the game. I've often made poor choices on where to start a hunt and then been able to laugh about how much easier it could have been!
  11. "The explorers of the past were great men and we should honour them. But let us not forget that their spirit lives on. It is still not hard to find a man who will adventure for the sake of a dream or one who will search, for the pleasure of searching, not for what he may find." - Sir Edmund Hillary-1958
  12. Many congratulations from North Alabama! It was so nice meeting you recently. Come back and visit soon! La Paloma
  13. You said, "Yes, It certainly appears as though there has been some dishonesty on our end, for which we apologize." Is this what I really heard? "We cheated on the finds and lied in the logs. We're really sorry we got found out." "Sorry again & we will delete the bugs we have not physically had." We'll see. Folks will be watching. As far as bogus finds being harmless..Cheating is not ever acceptable and it sets a horrible example for others-especially children. And cheating at something like Geocaching sends a very clear picture of someone's credibility. [This message was edited by La Paloma on September 09, 2003 at 03:31 AM.]
  14. Here's another sorta strange thing. He's hosting an event Oct 3. (See profile under Items Owned.) And the only reply is from some the other names he uses when he places caches. I think he's playing a different game than the rest of us...
  15. I think he's just putting in random numbers and logging a bug if the numbers hit. Anyway I deleted his log on mine. (However I cannot delete the fake bug log. ) In my relatively short time caching this is the first GeoJerk I've run across. You guys are great...Thanks..You've restored my faith! Joan aka La Paloma
  16. Well, I did a search on the forum and apparently this cacher is known for creating false logs. Electric Shavers..
  17. That's sorta what I suspected. According to their profile they've been in 10 states from California to New York-from Ontario to Florida plus Australia-in the last 7 days...just logging travel bugs out and back in to the same caches. Sure looks funny.
  18. For you more experienced geocachers...Please explain why a cacher would log a whole bunch of travel bugs they do not have (and have not had)- out and back into a whole bunch of caches they haven't visited?? (Out and back in to the same cache.) This happened two days ago on one of my caches that's been archived for a while. The cache was stolen and the bug with it almost a year ago. This particular cacher has done the same on lots of other caches. Just wondering. Thanks. [This message was edited by La Paloma on September 06, 2003 at 07:25 PM.]
  19. Congratulations Joe! You're an inspiration for the rest of us!!
