+quills Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 I just recently placed a micro cache and the first finder said the container was the smallest they had ever seen. They have over 500 finds I was just wondering what are some of the small ones you guys have found. Quote
+CYBret Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 The standard in small seems to now be the Altoids breath strip container. I don't think I've seen much smaller than that, other than some stages in a tough multi that contained nothing but the coords for the next find. Bret Quote
+quills Posted December 3, 2003 Author Posted December 3, 2003 Thanks for the reply that's actually what I used for this micro. When I saw that container I had to pick it up and make a cache out of it. Quote
+ChrisCindy Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 I have a cache in a nitro pill bottle that is kinda small. I have also seen a tuppaware keychain container that a quarter wouldn't fit into. Quote
+Renegade Knight Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 About the 1/4" round and the same tall. It had a single rolled up line of text in it. You had to answer the question on the paper to log the find. Finding the answer was harder than finding the cache. Quote
ju66l3r Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 So 2 answers...the smallest container was just a coin on a magnet (if that counts)...if not then just a 35 mm film canister...BUT inside of that canister was the coolest spy gadget I have ever seen. Imagine a medium-sized pill capsule (like something with those 30-40 beads of medicine in it) but instead of gelatin, it's made of metal and unscrews in the middle. Inside was a single line of notebook paper rolled up into a scroll. On it were names and you had to fill in the blank. That little spy-note pill-capsule thing was the coolest smallest "container" I have ever seen. Quote
+Marky Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 I would be surprised if I ever find a cache that is smaller than this cache. It even has a piece of paper inside (too small for a log sheet, but it is a piece of paper). --Marky Quote
+Lone Duck Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 Wow. That seems to beat a micro I found that was a converted rock. The outside was about the same size as a film canister, but the inside was half the space of a film canister. Quote
+MedicOne Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 The first of these I saw was about a year ago - since that time they've become quite popular in Seattle and Spokane Washington and Coeur de Alene Idaho. Its a Bison brand pill capsule. They are about an inch and a quarter long and maybe a skosh over 1/2 inch in diameter. They come complete with a waterproof O ring. First one I saw was placed in Spokane by Moun10bike in a cache calle Aureate Y. Not quite as small as the "glow in the dark" tablet described above - that's small. Quote
+opey one Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 I made one out of a lip balm container with the screw lid. It was quite small inside, with only room to cut circles out of paper approximately a half inch in diameter and stack them within the container. Small, but not quite as those previously mentioned. Those are too cool. Quote
+CacheCreatures Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 The smallest we've done was this one, a pill capsule sized container that revealed a piece of paper with the GC blurb on one side and a question to answer on the other. This thing is literally placed among 1000s of possible hiding spots. Fortunately, as we were dividing up the search area, we stumbled right on it. Those Frobro guys are notorious for these! This multi also had a small pill sized container that unscrewed to reveal the coords to the next location. Thankfully this little guy was placed in a local where it was the only thing that could have possibly been a cache. So while size does matter, we tend to think placement has the potential to be far more devious. Quote
+hedberg Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 The smalliest we have seen, is one of our one caches It's in a "KinderEgg", you perhaps know them? A small toy inside a plastic egg covered with chocolate? Take away the chocolate and toy, and you have our cache! Why we used it? It fits perfect in a small hole and something would be trashed by non-cachers... Quote
+woodsters Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 The smallest we've seen has been a tiny dental floss box. I was expecting a normal size, but this was about the size of the breath strip boxes. May a tad bigger. Big enough for a quarter to fit in as that's the type of caceh it was and was at a cemetary... bergie_69 Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=59415 This one has been archieved but you can still see a picture of it. It's a "super micro". Quote
+bons Posted December 12, 2003 Posted December 12, 2003 Just came across this while looking for dog tags. http://www.petco.com/product_info.asp?sku=2350305800 Aspen Pet Aristo Small ID Tube Size 1: 0.50" length (also in 1" length) ID Tube is a great way to pass along the pertinent information on your pet should you become separated. Compact metal tube unscrews to hide paper containing your name and address inside. Metal tube resists the elements, assuring that your pet's information stays safe and dry inside. Information can only be accessed by opening the tube. Attaches to d-ring on any pet's collar. Directions: Simply unscrew the cap and remove the slip of paper. Fill out the paper with the pertinent information. Put the paper back in the tube and replace the cap. Attach the tube to your pet's collar. If I ever need a really small micro to hang off something I know where to go now... Quote
CurmudgeonlyGal Posted December 12, 2003 Posted December 12, 2003 Bons - I was looking for those at the pet store the other day, but there were NONE to be found! Muchas Gracias! -=- m Quote
Team Misguided Posted December 12, 2003 Posted December 12, 2003 Just came across this while looking for dog tags. http://www.petco.com/product_info.asp?sku=2350305800 We have a few cachers out here that use those. You can roll a small log/scroll into one of those. Here's a picture: Quote
+Laserman Posted December 12, 2003 Posted December 12, 2003 Just came across this while looking for dog tags. I used one of these for a micro I just archived last week. The log had about 25 people initial/sign it, probably still room for another 1/2 dozen or so. Unfortunatly the log got wet, I plan to recycle the container in a dryer place one of these days. Quote
+Bloencustoms Posted December 12, 2003 Posted December 12, 2003 I have a bison container cache. I took a pencil, and used a bench grinder to narrow it down enough to roll a strip of paper around the outside, so the cache contains both a log and a writing instrument. Quote
+mozartman Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 I also own a cache that has a nitro pill bottle as the cache container. (look for 'em at a drugstore near you). It's a pretty good container-- waterproof, metal, almost indestructable... but SMALL! the biggest challenge to the cache seems to be getting the rolled-up logsheet out! come to think of it, no one's been there for a while, I should check on it. mozartman Quote
+Lazyboy & Mitey Mite Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 we found one that was perhaps 1/8 the size of a film canister. Almost enough room to initial the log Quote
+mozartman Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 forgot to say, in case you haven't seen them-- the nitro pill bottle is about the same diameter as a pencil and just over an inch long, no room for much of a log except a piece of rolled up paper! --mozartman Quote
+wray_clan Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 We found this after a few tries. There really wan't a picture that showed how small this was (although other caches on this thread look smaller). Now archived, it was in-between two planks on a bridge, and I don't think it had a lid. Quote
+Wulfster Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 Here's The Smallest Cache in the World. I don't know if it really counts though since it isn't really a container... Quote
+drat19 Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...B-181341A67033} I don't want to spoil this for the hider or future finders who might be in our area, but suffice it to say it's easily 1/4 the size of the SMALL size Bison Capsule...and a signable log sheet DOES fit. Brilliant! -Dave R. in Biloxi Quote
+tdjvolks Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 Quark, smallest known building block of matter. Quarks never occur alone; they always are found in combination with other quarks in larger particles of matter. Without quarks there would be no atoms, and without atoms, matter would not exist. Here are my Quark micros I made from Ink pens Just big enough for a rolled up log. (BYOP) I have placed 9 of these from easy to very hard to find and have had good comments on them. Thanks, tdjvolks... Quote
