  1. This has people logging finds on old archived caches, like this, or this. Does anyone just go out and find geocaches anymore, or has the game devolved into discovering easier and lazier ways to pretend you did? Being the cache owners that you are talking about I thought this needs addressing.... We set up pocket caches for geocachers that come to the event to get out of there own little clicks. This is the best way to get newbies to meet and talk to others that usually they would not get to meet and talk to others. This is a personal preference on logging pocket caches and you as a individual has a choice to log or not log them. We had over 100 gecaching teams at the event and everyone had a blast! And that's all that matters!

We have read so much about the "Big Number Ho's" across the world and we had the privilege to cache with lots of them during the events and had a great time ! Thanks NEFGA for a wonderful event and the planning was outstanding....but like any other NEFGA event they are all great!....Can't wait til next year now! tdj

  5. WE to are in shock that Cache Florida is gone, and yes we too are having withdraws, but if Infosponge is not happy with what is being said, then by all means shut it down for a while and let everyone stew on why it was shut down and maybe the people who are responsible will understand that Info is a person who cares about what is said and he to has feelings like the rest of us and sometimes it is easier to shut down the site than to listen to ranting and raving about all the crap that should not be posted or emailed anyway...I guess this is just my thought, and I know I will take bashing from it, but I think it needed to be said, and yes Infosponge I do miss the site when I click on my icon and nothing comes up...We all think you did a great job and really miss your insightfulness! tdj
  6. Thanks for the replies. I just got a e-mail from Easygps, they said that there working on a version for ExpertGPS to run on iPaq and will let me know when it's available. tdjvolks
  7. Thanks, I know this. I meant when your viewing a new cache that just popped up and you click on Download Waypoint file *.Loc, to download to your gps. Can you do this for your Pocket PC instead of waiting for the Pocket Query email from GC. My query's don't have all the newest caches listed So I'm back to paper on new caches. tdjvolks
  8. Well I have done away with the Palm M100 and upgraded to the HP iPAC Pocket PC h1945 and love it. I have my pocket queries set up and working great. Now is there anyway to covert the GC *.loc files to the gpx friendly files that the Gpx Sonar uses? So when a new cache pops up I can put it on the Pocket Pc without waiting on the pocket querie e-mail. Thanks for any help on this tdjvolks.
  9. We logged a FTF 20 Miles of Bad Road at 11:00pm December 31 03. What a blast as we were driving home from the area of the cache through all the fire works.
  10. Quark, smallest known building block of matter. Quarks never occur alone; they always are found in combination with other quarks in larger particles of matter. Without quarks there would be no atoms, and without atoms, matter would not exist. Here are my Quark micros I made from Ink pens Just big enough for a rolled up log. (BYOP) I have placed 9 of these from easy to very hard to find and have had good comments on them. Thanks, tdjvolks...
  11. Here are myQuarks. I made these from Ink pens. the pens come with a screw on cap and the diameter of the pen is just big enough for a rolled up log (BYOP) You can hide these things anywhere. I have hidden 9 from very easy to extremely hard to find and have had good comments about them from the people who have found them. tdjvolks...
  12. Go to the Geocaching Links page and click on the Groundspeak Goodies tab for the December Wallpaper. They said to come back each month for a new one. Also you can submit a photo for them to use on the wallpaper for each month. tdjvolks...
  13. I think it's ok in good taste but we did a cache in one cemetery placed by a young person and when we got to the cache there it was on top of a above ground grave, even the hint give the name to the person in the grave. Now I had a problem with this. What would happen say if your logging the cache and the relatives show up to pay there respect and see you and the cache on the grave. What would you say? I posted a note on that cache saying the Idea for the cache was good but we disagree with thee area that he placed the container, and his reply was, "Happy you found it ok! but please...the man died over 65 years ago. I doubt it really matters". This was in a active cemetery. Now that kind I have to disagree with. tdjvolks...
  14. They had a show on this on NOVA about 2 weeks ago on PBS. They said it has happend about every every 250,000 years. However, it has been 750,000 years since the last reversal—so we are certainly overdue. It always begins with a weakening of the magnetic field which they have determined that the field is weakening and some of the field has already started to flip in the southern hemisphere of the globe. Guess we will have to flip our compass around. tdjvolks...
  15. Hey Guys. I own a 72 Baja (GEO BUG)I have had for 5 years I use to place some off road caches in our area. We had a 70 VW Beetle for 3 years and recently sold it which I regret. We always leave a Hot Wheels VW Bug in the caches we find and place. And stamp the log book with a VW Baja stamp I made. I guess we have a bug for VWs. Thanks, tdjvolks... 23. What version firmware do you have? when you turn on the unit the first screen at the bottom has the version no. The latest is v4.03, this was supposed to fix some earlier problems like yours. If you have an earlier version you can go to Magellan.com and download v4.30. Just click on support for Spor Trak Map and the download is there. Hope this helps tdjvolks.
