+terratin Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Thanks a lot GS. That's some very nice stats, and I hope we'll see this more often from now on. Lets say every 6 months? Or a yearly summary of sorts? Biggest surprises for me: most logged cache type: traditional. I'd hoped it was EarthCache countries visited: 8! Though not first visits. That's just 5 (though the last one might not be included) favourite points awarded: 4! (Yeah, I'm very stingy when it comes to using FPs) 4 1 1 Quote
+Vicious Cycle Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 39 DNFs logged this year so far. I better pick up the pace. I'm falling behind. 5 Quote
+Max and 99 Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 My last notification like this was in August of 2022, so once a year. 46 DNFs from me so far this year. Quote
+lee737 Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 (edited) Yes, that is cool - this has been our biggest year by far.... >1000 finds so far, 42 hides (my son and I conbined) and 23 DNFs. Edited June 29, 2023 by lee737 Quote
+CAVinoGal Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Hubby saw the email and then we compared, since we do the majority of our caching together...the biggest difference was in our DNF's logged, because I typically log it when we cache together (2 DNF's for the same search seems redundant to me...). I posted 21 DNF's with 258 finds to date; he posted 0. The other stats were interesting to see laid out as well. Quote

The latter surprised me a bit when I saw it but it's right, maybe with the new glasses I got last week I'll do better. Incidently, only one of those caches was actually missing and was quickly replaced by its owner, the others I just couldn't find, with three I've since redeemed on a second visit. Quote
+thebruce0 Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 (edited) I haven't been holding back from posting DNFs. But I wonder how many people look at that number and want to reduce the dnfs! But take that to mean, well, just don't post as many We've seen that debate before, whether to post DNFs. I hope people aren't discouraged from posting DNFs just for the stats, but still stick to posting them if otherwise wouldn't - but instead make more effort to find caches and hope for a better find rate. heh Edited June 30, 2023 by thebruce0 1 Quote
+lee737 Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 I wouldn't dream of not posting a DNF.... it is our record - and it helps the CO/others. Especially since the blue frownies started being used, they are useful. I'd like to be able to colour other icons as well.... Quote

+thebruce0 Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 If it's one company, I'd lump them all together. How many 'topics' can an email blast to your users contain? Informational almost always is promotional. Any email from the company to its users that links back to the website is promotional in a sense. I'd certainly separate the two if the company attempted to market 3rd party stuff that they think I might be interested in. That to me is more marketing than informational. But if say they were launching a new cache type, it's promotional and informational. Or if they were launching a new geocaching app, promotional and informational. I dunno. I'm fine with options for either all or nothing. Or, I'd be pleased with a more granular breakdown to distinct topics to opt in/out, like for a dynamic email newsletter blast - such as whether I want to be informed about Adventure Labs, Geocaching/HQ updates, Statistics reports, Blog posts, Souvenir promos, Store deals and product, Upcoming events, etc. Quote
