+Reddevil1976
Is it or can it be considered to be bad form or unsporting or both for a host of an event to log an "Attended" log to their own event? We have always been told that this is bad form and should be avoided. Can I ask what does everyone else think??? Quote Link to comment
GrandPotentate
Yes, but only if you have actually attended. This question has been debated many times and it is generally accepted that the events are a social setting so it is ok for the owner to log it as attended. Quote Link to comment
+St.Matthew
And technically, they did attend if they were present. Conversely, regarding other cache types, you cannot find something that you yourself hid (you already know where to look). Quote Link to comment
+JL_HSTRE
Here in FL it is standard practice for the event CO to log an Attended if they were there. Occasionally the person who created an event might miss it. Quote Link to comment
+DadOf6Furrballs
If you attended it, yes. That's why that log type is called "Attended". With rare exceptions, almost everyone I know also logs their own hosted events the same way. Those tiny few that don't may or may not log it as a note, but that's a personal choice with them. +lamoracke
Yes, you can, I would say about 3 out of every 5 unique cache owners will log their own event as attended in the Seattle area (did the math once). Up to you. I personally do not. I feel one either hosts it or attends it. I'd probably log my own CITO though if I was doing any work because I can host it and work in it, but that is my own semantics, am sure others would not log their own CITO either. Your call. +Semper Questio
I log my events as attended; especially after darn near missing a few of them! It's pretty much the norm down here, too. Quote Link to comment
+NeverSummer
Some might chime in and call it "cheesy", and others (as you've seen already) will say it's just fine. If you want to log your own event which you attended, go for it. You "Attended". But, logging your own caches as "Found" isn't the same. As stated above, you can't "find" something you already knew the location of. Quote Link to comment
+ChileHead
Almost all events here have attended logs posted by the CO. Some don't though, as there was at one time (a long time ago) a local taboo for doing so. Quote Link to comment
+fuzzybelly
I personally don't log an "attended" on events that I hosted that where my own events, but I will on events where I hosted for another organization like GeoAK!. In that case GeocachAlaska! is the "event cache by", person,or group, and I'm volunteering to host for their event. Quote Link to comment
+SwineFlew
What about those CO that host events in other countries so they can get the "cache" in that country without driving for miles for the nearest cache? Quote Link to comment

Everyone gets to play the game their own way. I've seen this one. I think it's to slippery. Quote Link to comment
+NYPaddleCacher
What about those CO that host events in other countries so they can get the "cache" in that country without driving for miles for the nearest cache? For the last WWFM there was a flashmob event posted in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I was on an airplane en-route to Addis Ababa at the time the event occurred (and had not yet found a cache in Ethiopia) so I just missed it by a few hours. I checked the listing the next day and saw that the CO had the only attended log for the flash mob. I was able to find a cache there during my trip so I guess I won't be hosting an event there the next time I go (possibly next year). It looks like the CO for the WWFM event actually lives there and has placed a couple of traditional caches in the area. Quote Link to comment

We have always been told that this is bad form and should be avoided. Can I ask what does everyone else think??? Attending an event is different from finding a cache. You can't find your own cache when you placed it and know where it is. But if you attended an event, even if you hosted it, then you,, uh, attended it. You're simply stating a fact... +briansnat
I don't log my own events as attended but I'm definitely in the minority. Quote Link to comment

We have always been told that this is bad form and should be avoided. Can I ask what does everyone else think??? I have attended over 50 events in about ten different caching communities in Germany, Virginia, Maryland, Alabama, and Oklahoma. The only ones the event owner didn't post an attended log themselves were the two mega events and a CITO associated with one of the mega events. It may not be universal, but it's widely practiced, from my experience. Quote Link to comment
Clan Riffster
I got my latest event published a couple weeks ago. So far, myself included, there are only four "Will Attend" logs. I will most certainly be logging it as attended, assuming I actually show up and survive. Beware, for here be Dragons! Quote Link to comment

We had to settle for a NYE paddle in the low teens! Quote Link to comment
+Shop99er
Unlike most, I have never logged an attended on my own event. It's always seemed to me a a bit of a cheat. Quote Link to comment
