+Us 4 and Jess Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I put out a plastic "dog poo" on the Friday, went back on the Saturday to add another cache (it was for a meet on the Sunday) and the "dog poo" I had placed the day before had gone!! It had not even been there 24 hours. It had not even gone to the reviewers Comes to something when plastic poos are muggled M Quote
+keehotee Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I put one out at Easter a couple of years ago, and it was muggled before FTF - so 24 hours or less.... Quote
+Bill D (wwh) Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 There was one placed in a park somewhere in Somerset three or four years ago which went within 24 hours - I can't remember the cachers' username. But it was placed by a father with his young children - it sounded as if they may have been seen and heard placing it, and if that was indeed the case it may have gone within minutes. Quote
+Matrix Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 Well there "may" be hope for my missing cache after all Yesterday (Sunday 17/2/08) whilst walking along the Roman Road from Neath to Brecon we found this "strange" small box on the side of the track . There was no one around at the time and we saw no one along that stretch of roman road all day. It was wrapped inside plastic carrier bags and inside a tightly knotted camouflaged cloth bag. There were so many tightly pulled knots in the string it would have taken a whole tribe of boy scouts to untie it so we used the old Indian trick of cutting the string sorry. The code number on the box and book inside the box is GC1914E. We put the box back in the same place but alittle further into the grass at the side of the track as its original position looked like it fell there and was not placed there. Sorry if we opened something we should not have We now realise it is part of a treasure hunt game, but it did look if someone dropped it there at the side of the track, and I apologise on behalf of all of us for cutting the string to get in (but we all wanted to see inside although Al, Jill and Ian stepped back incase it exploded while I opened it!) We took some photos but I cannot download them till we get home in a few weeks as we are only using internet cafe and library machines til then but you can use this address for contact if needed. +Happy Humphrey Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Two of mine have disappeared within minutes of being placed (seemingly). One was near the summit of a big hill, a camouflaged ammo box hidden between rocks in a boulder field away from the path at about 1500 feet, and was gone before the FTF attempt later in the day (I'm positive that there was no-one within a couple of miles when I placed it). The other was a well-camouflaged micro suspended in a ditch, which lasted a few hours at most. Never underestimate the muggle! Quote
+PopUpPirate Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Shooutout At The Corn Mill was muggled between being hidden late one evening and FTF in the morning! Back in place and not a spot of bother in 18 months+ Quote

+Matrix Posted February 19, 2008 Author Posted February 19, 2008 Excellent news. Now you've just got to walk from Neath to Brecon to look for it along side the path!! I know I have already walked about 5 miles along the track it might have to wait until the byway reopens on the 1st June and then the 4x4 caching machine can take the strain Quote
+kewfriend Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 GC1958W Muggled before it even went live! Its the Belgian link in a large international multicache and we were all about to go live with the caches and poor old Belgium called a halt - well a delay only I hope. Strangely the cache itself was left intact but the front page of the logbook had the Belgian equivalent of 'you've been rumbled' . So now our Brussels friends have to go out and find a new location ...... zzzzzzzzzz Quote

+SidAndBob Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Here's another "gone before it's found". Honours go to Mrs. B for (not) finding it. Quote
+The Blorenges Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Not exactly muggled, but this new one, "Tied Up", was certainly short-lived! MrsB Quote

reelcutter Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Could call it fried up instead now. someone had to say it thought I would do the honours. Quote
+Bill D (wwh) Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I once lost a cache to fire, too. Though it was placed with permission, this one was accidentally burnt to a cinder during gorse burning. Quote

It certainly was not "wrapped" as described when it was placed it was a tupperware box in a camo bag , there has been no contact since either Surprising what some people will do instead of just finding it and then replacing in exactly the same condition. In theory, all caches should be in the same condition as when first placed (weather permitting of course) So many people think they know better, unfortunately it is often not the case... Hope you find it somewhere. Quote
+gazooks Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Mine may not be the fastest but annoying all the same. A couple of weeks ago I hide three caches for an event on April 19th in Ely. They were not due to go live until the morning of the event. I don't know why but I thought I would check up on them just before the event and one had disappeared before being 'officially' found. The good news is I had a spare micro with me and so replaced it - phew !! - and enjoyed by all that attended. happy ending at least. Quote
