Had a strange one today. Driving down a dirt road on the way to a cache and see an intersecting dirt road going in the general direction the GPSr says I should go. I turn and the shortly the road ends in a clearing and I get out. I look for the trail into the woods from the clearing and find none. What I do find is a pile of pornagraphic pictures strewn about the clearing. :o I can only imagine why anybody would be out in the woods with that stuff, but I'd rather not. I gathered it all up and deposited it in a trash can away from the site. I'm just glad I didn't find the person(s) who brought it in the clearing.

Uh, can you say "Meth-Maggot"? Meth gets rid of most of the normal human drives. About all that is left is the drive to get more meth, and gratification....Porn is a regular find when we contact/arrest these subjects.

Edited: This was off-topic and looking back it was much more offensive than I meant it be. I don't like that some groups should be blamed(drug-users) out of hand for things that could just as easily have been done by non drug users(though I did something very similar in my post). Sorry.

note: I am a law abiding citizen...I don't do anything illegal that most people don't.

P.S. If editing this to remove my original post is in-appropriate I can repost.

Just because someone has a issue with illegal substances does NOT mean that they are the scum of the earth and would dump offensive material in the woods..I'd bet that this was done by people using far more potent legal drugs like alcohol. If you look at history  about a century ago the 40% of peace officers(yes, they were once peace officers) that used HEROIN won more medals and were held in higher esteem than those that drank(same was true of preachers, doctors, and school teachers).  Also, in my experience(my two cents) the police(peace officers don't really exist anymore) that I have run into were a lot more interested in pornography(and rape) than many of the meth users that I have met...My opinion. Labeling people is a bad idea. Also, given drugs penetration into society that "meth-maggot" may be your health care professional or someone else that you trust.

My 2 cents

Interesting...I try to answer a question based on twelve years training and experience, and you flame me...Um, Ok...and you got all that info from where? Exactly how many meth addicts have you ever spent any time with? I guess that I'm kinda jaded by all the meth addicts who steal cars, mail, and identities. Oh ya, and tried to kill me. Really. The meth addicts in your neck of the woods must be different. I didn't exactly say that all meth addicts are the scum of the earth. The greater evil is the methamphetamine, which by the way has been shown to have about a 6% recovery rate (using 180 day inpatient treatment). I've also noticed that they can't hold a job, or at least not for very long. So no, I'm not too worried about my doctor.

Hey, I'd love to chat more, but I gotta hit the "Lusty Ladies" site, and pick up some black tar before I head in to work. Maybe I'll write more while I'm on my donut break... :o

Good luck,

When I'm out in my 4x4, I always notice those dirt roads that just might lead somewhere fun.

Of course, you found a different kind of fun than what i usually look for, but to each his own. Glad you were able to CITO, but did you find the cache?

Howdy,

This forum is about *geocaching.* KYHilltopper shared an unusual experience that he had while *geocaching.*

I am wondering what forum I was teleported to without clicking on any links.

Couldn't agree with you more Keystone Approver...I thought I was just tossing out an idea on how his "find" got there. Didn't realize I was stepping on anyone's toes... :o

Contributions to this forum are *welcome* from law enforcement professionals who are also geocachers. Somewhere here in "The Hunt/The Unusual" is a thread about coming across meth labs and marijuana fields while out on a cache hunt. It is helpful to hear expert advice from people who deal with this stuff for a living.

I'm sorry, my post is probably one of the more off-topic posts I've seen, I'm used to slightly more open forums...sorry.

I'm glad that was cleaned-up before kids could find it. I'm sorry 5 I didn't really mean to offend you(or flame, that came off a lot worse than I planned it) I do want to PM you with what I was talking about (pre-Harrison Narcotic Act(1914) history) if you don't mind. Via my computer background I have worked with 2 "clinics" and my experience is the polar opposite with the "good guys" being the bad guys and vis-versa.(MY 2 CENTS).

I'll shut-up about this now. I apologize again for being off-topic.

The cache I was looking for was hidden in a wall made of big stones, that was clear already when I arrived the coordinates. I thought I looked everywhere but I didn't find the geocache. Instead I found couple of other caches; one was a plastic bag full of empty bottles (I trashed them out and got some cash out of it) and the other was a VHS cassette cover of specialized porn, not the actual cassette inside (I trashed it into a bin). I have no reason to believe it was anything other than just a stash of local teenagers having their booze and porn stash in that certain wall. Nothing indicated in any illegal drug usage.

I found the cache the next day I arrived to the wall in bright daylight.

I would say, hilltopper, that you found some adolescent boy(s) ummm...'educational' materials that were being used to get him through the trials of adolesence. ;)

Oh! btw nice to see another GEOCKY member on these boards;)

Yes, you never know what you'll find. A friend and I were caching, closing in on ground zero, and Lou says "I found it". By the time I get to him, he gets a curious look and says "Uh, no, I didn't. Want some porn?" He had found a large ziploc with 20-50 badly-printed inkjet pictures. The cache was about 5 feet from there! We trashed them out but it still makes for a great story.

that's happened a few times to us. Ironically one was at a Book Cache. We found the cache which happened to be under a log upon which a ratty old matress was propped up on. Around the matress and on top of the cache were ripped up porn magazines. We wrote to the cache owner and suggested he move the cache away from the mattress and we definately didn't want to CITO it.

Another time was when we were climbing up a mountain to get to the cache on top. At the start of the trail was an outhouse, inside the outhouse was a magazine. We left it alone and went on our way. The only other person we saw along the trail was an older man and when we went back to the outhouse after coming back down the mountain, the magazine wasn't there anymore...let's just hope he was CITOing.....

:D We were following the coordinates to a "KIDS" cache. The park ended up being closed and we pulled into the last parking area before the closed gates to turn around. Much to our surprise we stumbled upon a couple in the hot throws of passion with their car door open! After we turned around and were exiting, a truck pulled in to turn around like we'd done! I was glad that I didn't have my kids with me to explain that one too. :P

On one of my caches there kept being reference to "adult material" along the trail "I saw the adult material beside the trail also. Not your typical material,I wonder if it floated hear when the water was high from San Francisco?" But nobody CITOed it out. Finally we had an event near, and afterwards I guided some folks around - and CITOed it out myself. Kinda wonder why folks would write about it, but not pick it up?

I just thought it funny that there are only 15 postings in this topic yet it has had over 1300 views! Okay, I guess its been active since September.

I was caching one time and the parking area was clearly being used as a, ahem, lovers lane. Had to do some quick thinking when my 3 year old asked me why there were balloons littered about the place.

We were looking for an urban cache in downtown Raleigh when we came across a baggie. It had a woman's scarf and bible in it. Near the spot was also a pair of shoes and socks. When we got home and read the logs, several other people had found the same "cache" that we had. LOL We figured it was someone's stuff so we hid it back under the pine needles where we found it.

Last summer I was scouting for a new cache hide when I saw a homeless camp occupied by 3 men. I went into stealth mode until they heard me at about 30' away and skeedaddled. The site looked like it had been inhabited for at least a few weeks, if not months, and I figured they were transients hopping the train at the tracks nearby. The three of them had maybe $20 worth of useful gear, and at least 75 $10+ hardcore porn mags carefully wrapped in heavy plastic bags. That's a lot of $ value, not to mention weight to lug around on your back.

:D

And before you ask, I didn't place a cache there.

Several months ago I noticed a log for a cache that I watch and it made mention of something of an adult nature in the container. They didn't say that they had removed it so I stopped by on my way home from work to see if anything needed to be removed. Sure enough, someone had left an adult vibrating toy in the cache. As an EMT, it's a good thing I always carry latex gloves with me. Yucko!
