  1. Howdy fellow cachers, I'm taking the family to Isle of Skye next week and would like some recommendations for interesting Geocaches. Keenly interested in anything prehistoric, geologic, challenging or otherwise unique. Not so much interested in castles, gardens and the like.
  2. Well I got one good recommendation in private mail - thanks! Too many Dair Mor caches to nail it down better. If I can be candid, I find it hard to believe someone can put out 150 truly worthwhile caches! I've been at this for nearly ten years so I have some experience in these matters. I wish I could do a search based on area & colourful adjectives in the logs. That would nail it down! Cheers! Coupar-Angus

  4. I'll be in Perthshire attending the Mega Event this summer. There are a LOT of caches in the area but I won't have time for them all. I'm looking for a short list of truly interesting ones. I like hiking, hill climbs, history, scenic vistas and adventure. That rules out lamp post, road sign, urban micro, stealth and other <yawn> lame types of caches. Please suggest ones you found you enjoyed. Thanks!! Coupar Angus et al
  5. Geocaching, The Movie? (just a guess)
  6. Its in the Rockies. Next question!
  7. They're all bad in my opinion. Any cache which draws attention to yourself and could be misconstrued as anything nefarious in nature is poorly hidden and speaks badly of the activity. I will abort a find if this is the case every time. Not to mention the personal disappointment. The quality of many hides in the last few years is so dismal I've pretty much given up. Tragic because I spotted this years ago and made suggestions like the "20 minute minimum rule" (which obviously fell on deaf ears).
  8. Just out of curiosity, is the maximum altitude a limit of the technology or more for political reasons? As for the maximum speed, I can see this as perhaps a Doppler-shift issue.
  9. NWOBEAR was the right answer!! Please ask away. Please, no off-topic questions. Until Geocaching becomes an Olympic sport any questions pertaining to it are off-topic. BTW, I think Juicey's question is incorrect. 2 points define a line, 3 points a plane and 4 a volume. Even a plane has dimensions, although it could be argued a line doesn't. BTW, DOP is a general term for many different measurements. So my answer is also general and is "Location Error".
  10. What does hockey history have to do with Geocaching? It sounds like I'd best steer this forum back on-topic! Are you smarter than a 4th grader? My daughter knows the answer to the below so let's see if someone here does. Q: What do you call the part of the forest between the ground and the canopy?
  11. There are a few "Acre" streets/roads/etc. Is this what y'all are getting at?
  12. Juicey just can't stop winning! Woohoo! BTW, I had to look it up myself because I was curious where the name came from. A bunch of cachers will be on the water there Sunday morning paddling upstream for some caches. Anyone welcome to join - bring a canoe or kayak as I think we've filled all our seats.
  13. I've been to Kilbear several times and not run into this much clay! Q: What river in southern Ontario got its name from an old trading post near its mouth where items were often paid for later with barter?
  14. If you were heading to Sandbanks, I think you took a wrong turn!
  15. In my experience, Radioworld will price match. Also in my experience, their after sale service is excellent. I missed their free BBQ on Saturday - and also all the door prizes (sigh).
  16. In my experience if you eat a lot of foods with processed sugars it attracts more skitters. Not sure why as I know they are attracted to CO2 not "sweetness". Without question deerflies are attracted to bright blue things. So if there's a 'cacher you dislike a gift of a an appropriately coloured shirt may be in order.
  17. Yes indeed, it was PET. The floor is yours! Inuvik is a little off the beaten track for this Geocacher!
  18. The last question doesn't appear to be drawing any interest. I'll intercept with a new one to keep things moving. Q: What famous Canadian wrote "Exhaustion and Fulfilment: The Ascetic in a Canoe" in 1944?
  19. I think there's going to be some conjecture on this one. I found two different answers by Googling. Neither are anywhere near Sudbury!
  20. Reminds me of the story of the policeman who had batteries in the same pocket as spare bullets for his revolver. Apparently he can now sing castrati.
  21. Not a big fan of body art myself. I once considered a skull with a snake coming out of the eye-socket. Thankfully, they got my medication sorted in time.
  22. Let's see, can I put out over a hundred caches and when I lose interest just leave it to others to go and clean up the messes? Doesn't sound like its within the spirit of Geocaching to me. Its caches like these that kill the hobby. If people put the same thought into their stashes as I and many others, we'd not see as many of them but conversely the hobby would be much stronger. I mentioned this many years ago but I guess nobody was listening. <sigh>
  23. I have no idea, but will guess somewhere in the capitol area.
