martmann
They can be removed from the car you know! they, can! also. be, removed-for/ punctuation? too- huh? I second the huh? A side note: I think it's funny how many people didn't notice the S in the thread title, and posted that the C is available, given that Geocaching is something that relies heavily on noticing the little things. (not saying that I might not have done the exact same thing). Quote Link to comment
+GOT GPS?
I used one gps for both on foot and driving, but found i like to keep track with what i do on foot with one, and driving with another gps. Quote Link to comment

thcri
I wrote to Garmin and got this reply in regards to the CS. "Thank you for contacting GARMIN. Garmin has not started shipping the GPSMAP60CS units yet, we are currently looking at shipping shortly. We are making continuous improvements to the product while in development to ensure the highest level of satisfaction from our customers when it does ship. We apologize for the delay and are working diligently to have the product ready for the market. +Ptarmigan
Looks like we are hold for one more week ... for the 60CS At least the rescheduled dates are getting smaller ie: in January it went to the end of Feb. (4 weeks ). Now in mid Feb it goes 1 more week.... into March Quote Link to comment

thcri
any news on the shipping dates ? c u chris I got an email from Garmin just yesterday. The guy told me as of right now they have to date set for shipping. They won't know until the day they ship. Gee, Garmin is a big company and being this close you would think they would have a better idea or even update their web page to give us information. It is frustrating both the retailers and us consumers. Quote Link to comment
+Rubberhead
I've said it before but the pain of waiting ends the minute the UPS (or FEDEX) guy (or girl) shows up. Quote Link to comment
+robert
GPSCity bumped from 3/5 to 3/10 (Friday->Wednesday). FWIW. Quote Link to comment
+anniebananie
You will probably know when they will ship when the online manual for the 60cs appears on the Garmin website. The online manual for the 60c went up about two days before the release date. Anniebananie Quote Link to comment

Us 5 Camp
This is the email I got:The latest word from Garmin is we should see these units in our warehouse around March 10th My wife keeps telling me that one day someone's gonna wake up and beat Garmin at their own game, these delays are frustrating! I know others may claim Magellen this or that, but I just don't like the feel of the display and menus. What I am talking about is another company that comes in with "Garmin" like feel and beats them at their own game because they execute faster/better. I love Garmin products and support, but their NPI process could use some improvement! Edited February 25, 2004 by Us 5 Camp Quote Link to comment
+Greg&Patty
It seems that Jeremy knew the ship date would not be until March as long ago as last December. Heres his comment in the review from December 22nd. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=60729 The 60C does not have an electronic compass or baromic altimeter, but the 60CS will have these features (MSRP $535.70, Available March '04). Not having these in the Garmin V I don't miss them, though I can see the benefit. Just keep in mind that the electronic compass (or any additional features) can drain batteries much faster. It seems that Garmin or somebody in the marketing chain had set the expectation of March with some folks and Feburary with others. Its not clear who in the marketing chain came up with the February dates. Or why there was first March date and then Feb date. I do fault Garmin for not being more clear. When I placed my pre-order, I fully expected a March delivery. But Febuary was would have been a bonus. In the end, being one or two months late is not where the competition could beat Garmin. Things like adding more value at lower cost in a reliable smaller package. Thats what you need to beat Garmin. Frankly, I don't see it happening. At least this year. Quote Link to comment

That is correct also in the Garmin press releases. The 60CS would not be available until March. However, Garmin did lead the retailers that it would be availalble in February a week or so after the 60C was released. Then they backed down. I don't mind it being March if we would have totally understood that up front. I let my Vista go when I should not have as I patiently wait now for the CS. I guess my frustration is I am big kid waiting for a toy!!! I can wait but it is a tough one Quote Link to comment
Fire Eater
Sounds like everyone is on delay unless they order from the states or outside of ontario. Has anyone received delivery of the 60c or cs from a supplier in ontario? I have had mine on order for over a month and I was told that they expect the units by the end of the 1st quarter. When I contacted Garmin they said that they cannot ship a unit to Canada without Bilingual packaging Go figures!!! Just so I can recycle the French manual. Well still waiting I guess. +femo
@ fire eater hello fire eater, that sounds strange........even in europe the 60c's are sold and are widely available. and they even have english and german manuals...... looking at GPS Central i can see, that the english version is also shipping in canada. my decision would be easy :-) cancel your order - and order with gps central - and rcv the unit by overnite shipping for the weekend :-) good luck chris alias femo Quote Link to comment
