  1. Great clip....I'm on the edge!!! can't wait for the full feature. Go figure Tripper was involved in this. I know of a spot where you can have Tripper and the rest of the trailer park boys escaping from bigfoot on some prize cattle!!! Maybe riding off into the sunset with a piece of the furry guy dragging behind. Fire Eater

    Google Earth

Ok with the new link to Google earth on our cache home page. When you click on the download link and save it to say your desktop, it asks what program do you want to open it.........so which program do you use? I thought it would open through the geaocaching page. Fire Eater
  3. The other day I updated my Mapsource to the 6.7 version. Tried searching for an address today to have the program lock up and an error message pop up saying copy error message to clipboard and forward to tech support or call the 1-800 number. Great...! of course the 1-800 number is constantly busy, so I sent the email thinking that I would not hear back any time soon or I would get some automatic generic reply. To my surprise they emailed back almost immediately. Thanks for the speedy reply Fire Eater
  4. Sorry Murfster, I did not realize that you had already started a thread! I was in a hurry and did not look through the previous posts. Maybe people will hear our voices?...oh probably not. I WANT A CHANCE TO WIN OR DON'T SEND ME THAT CRAP!!!
  5. Why can't Geocaching Notify Bot [notify.TA8R@geocaching.com] filter out these contests that to win a prize you have to be American??? I am tired of being sent these contests that we as Canadians need not apply!!! Like the recent weekly cache notifier that started with this: Read the contest rules... Ah...now I feel Better!!! 6. When searching for caches by your home co-ordinates it will tell you the direction. Ie: north, south, east, west and how many "Miles" from your home co-ord. Is there a way of switching to "km" for the distance? Fire Eater
  7. One more for Firefighter...(as the name implies ) Caching for 2 1/5 years Firefighter for 10yrs in Ontario Canada. Local 2511 Fire Eater
  8. Please sign me up if it's not too late Thanks a bunch!!! Fire Eater

  10. Canadian Tire is the place to go I ordered my 60c when they first started carrying them. The manager I dealt with was great and I price matched from GPS Central plus recieved 10% in Canadian Tire Cash....can't beat that!!!! Fire Eater
  11. Bear Sighting Anyone interested, we have spotted a large black bear in the Peterborough area. Just east ( Keene Rd. & Hwy #7) We have spotted a few going through our farm field over the years, but have never had any problems. Even with the cattle in the field and their calf's. Be aware of your surroundings when hiking and you sould not have any problems. Fire Eater
  12. How the He%$ do I upload a picture from my computer???It keeps asking for a web address? Fire Eater
  13. Just wondering how do ya add a picture from your computer to one of the forum topics? When you click on "IMG" it asks for a web site address. I don't have one. But I would like to upload images from my computer. Any helpfull advice out there? Fire Eater
  14. I too have upgraded from the Legend to the 60c. I was looking for a case but have not found one yet. Unless you can find a cell phone case and maybe modify it a bit. I have found these screen protectors Thread Link Under my comment there is a link. They are cheap and I cut it to fit the screen. No worries abou scratching the screen Fire Eater
  15. Found some Screen Protectors at Radioshack today. Only $6.99 for a 4 pack. They are big enough that they should fit pretty much every GPS screen size for the handhelds. They can easily be trimmed to fit. I trimmed one up for the 60c and it works great. Click Here Fire Eater
  16. Just wondering if anyone has an idea to protect the screen on my new 60c? The one that came with the packaging would be great if it did not have any drawings on it. I looked at staples and they have plastic screen protectors for PDA's that could be cut down to fit the 60c but they are $20 for a pack. All I need is one. I know you can by the case from garmin, but it covers the whole gps. Not like the case for the Legend with the see through screen. I was thinking of a friction based clear plastic like the one that was on it for shipping. Something without any adheasive Fire Eater
  17. Just a note to all those wanting to cash in with their canadian tire money within the Ontario stores. I just received my 60c last week after a long long wait. The main warehouse just received 144 60c units and started distributing them last week to the stores where people had placed orders with. I was able to price compare with GPS Central for $529.95. Canadian Tire has them listed at $699. With a price compare you receive 10% of the price match in canadian tire money as well. Not bad, $53 in cdn tire cash. Sounds like some store poilicies differ with the price match because the lady at the counter said that they usually do not price match with on line stores. But the manager had approved it. All in all they were really great to deal with, especially the sports manager. He was checking on the order all the time and keeping me updated. The delay was with our cross border laws for Ontario. All packaging must have bilingual manuals. Garmin did not have these available. Fire Eater
  18. PLEASE CONSIDER MY PREVIOUS EMAIL....I COULD REALLY USE A WALKING STAFF OF THIS QUALITY. PLUS IT LOOKS AMAZING Fire Eater Canada
  19. Amazing craftsmanship on the staff's El Diablo!!! I checked out your web page and the detailing on the staff's are really well done. I am not going to give a sob story about injuries, sickness or old hockey incidents. The reason that I would like to win one of your staff's is that my wife is due any day now with our first babie(s) Twins to be exact. So we are going to be some pretty proud parents for the first time. We both love the outdoors and are active campers, hikers and especially geocachers. I have purchased two snugglies so we can take them on their first hike and cache. I will have to be extra careful because of the slippery/muddy/snowy conditions here in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. I have been looking into the idea of a staff to help with the footing, so as not to fall. I would never forgive myself if something happend(neither would my wife) I have actually been waiting for my new 60c for way too long. I sold my legend a couple months back thinking that I could get the new one in a week. What a mistake. I am going geocrazy without a gps. (Word is that I will have the new one by friday) Fire Eater P.S. Being a firefighter and soon to be dad I have some neat ideas for a design on the staff...whether I win or look into placing an order!!! P.S.S. Could be some good exposure up here in Canada. Lot's of cachers on the trails as well as hikers that have not been introduced to this past time.
  20. Hey everyone, I like using plastic containers with screw on lids, like peanut butter containers. I usually paint them up with camo to blend into the surroundings. The guys at work usually go through the protein shakes and suppliments so I use the plastic containers when they are done. Lots of sizes, durable, waterproof, and FREE!!! . You would probably have some luck at your local recycling plant. Lots to choose from!!! Fire Eater
  21. Was at the fishing show and talked to a couple of the guys at the Garmin booth. My first question 1. Whats the delay in shipping the 60c to retailers in Ontario? Response: They just started sending them. ( they are in the mail ) The bilingual laws are holding up the process because they cannot ship a unit to ontario with just an english manual, it has to include a french manual. 2. Any word on the Canadian Topo software that was supose to be out months ago? Response: They will be here in 5 weeks. A couple of the typical salesman answers. You would think that Garmin would be better prepared for a new product release. I like their products but they need to work on their customer relations. I talked to a couple of the retailers that were there(no need to mention names ) but they were not to impressed either and were just as frustrated. On the plus side I actually got to play with a 60c and it looked pretty cool and was not as big as I thought that it would be. I will keep my fingers and toes crossed that my order will eventually show up! Fire Eater
  22. Sounds like everyone is on delay unless they order from the states or outside of ontario. Has anyone received delivery of the 60c or cs from a supplier in ontario? I have had mine on order for over a month and I was told that they expect the units by the end of the 1st quarter. When I contacted Garmin they said that they cannot ship a unit to Canada without Bilingual packaging Go figures!!! Just so I can recycle the French manual. Well still waiting I guess. Fire Eater
  23. Everyone cancel their orders for the 60c! Do you see all the extras with the 76c and 76cs.....come on you know you want it...double the memory, floats, and marine stuff....cancel and order the 76c or 76cs.....THIS WAY I CAN GET MY 60C THAT HAS BEEN ON BACKORDER FOREVER AND A DAY!!! Fire Eater
  24. Hey ralann, thanks for the info...who would of known that you need the secret text <img src=....not me Fire Eater
