Derailed Threads

Why threads derail.

Post 1. Hello I have a question.

Post 2. Hi, here is your answer.

Post 3. Grrr someone beat me to it but here’s my answer anyway.

Post 4. No 2 you’re an idiot clearly No 3 is right.

Post 5. No 4 what side of the bed did you wake up on?

Post 6. Hey, this topic is derailed, let me bulldoze it further off track!

Post 7. Woo Hoo!

Post 8. Shut up RK.

Everything after number two is just the party mixing it up. The question got answered the conversation drifted. The thread is like a group at a party. It will drift then break up on its own. It's like a natural law. It just happens. Enjoy.

You're an idiot clearly you are telling us nothing we don't already know.

So anyway, I will be happy when this week is over and I can relax a bit this weekend. Plans just changed so I'm not sure what is going to happen but I will figure it out.

Ewww bad idea. I don't see where that would benefit anyone. I can see that person getting mad for one reason or another and locking it. Doesn't make much sense but I will think about it more.

the funniest thread is "ok to charge admission/parking?" EVERY answer is "yeah that's ok as long as you state it on the cache page". How many times do people have to respond with the same thing? icon_wink.gif

Not a bad idea.

Someone else would just start it again.

How about a function where you could block selected posters from posting on your thread?

"someone would start it again" Thats why its a bad idea. How stupid would that be with 100 threads with responses back and forth to each other instead of all of those in one thread?

Blocking people from posting? I think that brings up that censorship word again.

Great! Zuuky got 3 & 8. What am I supposed to do now? There's no instructions.

Has anyone said, "Shut up RK," yet?

Works for me.

That feature has always been there, as far as I recall. Only works within 24hrs of starting the thread, though.

Would all of you brain-dead idiots, please stick to the topic. Oh, by the way, a little more civility and a little less rudeness would make these forums a nicer place to be. Where are those moderators? I think that we should scrap the forums where we just talk about geocaching, and instead just have forums where we talk about forums. Anybody in favour of that?

I have never in my life learned anything from any man who agreed with me.

Quick, RK! Shut this thread down! icon_biggrin.gif

Canadazuuk - are you off your meds again?? The topic is the evolution of Geocaching. And by the way, I don’t think you are “brain dead” - I think you just leave your brain at the base of your keyboard every time you log on. (hey man, it’s just a joke - O.K.?? - on second thought I better add a couple of these in case you don't get it icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif )

I think the topic is on how to get a thread locked down, and as I would never post anything that was even remotely off topic I don't have much to say here. icon_wink.gif

Let's talk about virtuals.

Gosh, I LOVE ALLLLL virtuals no matter how lame and I think I'll hold my breath until I die unless my virtual of the 1st Popeyes Fried Chicken reataurant in Las Vegas gets approved. BooHoo. icon_wink.gificon_razz.gificon_razz.gif <insert bulldozer emoticon>

Go easy on me, I'm only half way through my first cup of coffee, and it's a vacation day...

The Powers That Be

Of course, it's also a song off Roger Waters Radio K.A.O.S. (also a cache) album:

quote:
The powers that be

They like a tough game

No rules

Some you win, some you lose

Competition's good for you

They're dying to be free

They're the powers that be

They like a bomb proof cadillac

Air conditioned, gold taps,

Back seat gun rack, platinum hub caps

They pick horses for courses

They're the market forces

Nice car Jack

They like order, make-up, lime light power

Game shows, rodeos, star wars, TV

They're the powers that be

If you see them come,

You better run - run

You better run on home

Sisters of mercy better join your brothers

Put a stop to the soap opera right now

They say the toothless get ruthless

You better run on home

You better run - run

You better run on home

The powers that be

They like treats, tricks, carrots and sticks

They like fear and loathing, they like sheep's

clothing

And blacked-out vans

Blacked-out vans, contingency plans

They like death or glory, they love a good story

They love a good story

Sisters of mercy better join with your brothers

Put a stop to the soap opera state

They say the toothless get ruthless

Run home before its too late

You better run - run

You better run on home

Billy: Goodnight, Jim.

Jim: Goodnight, Billy.

Uncle David's Great Dane: Woof, woof, woof!

The canyon - daytime. Billy plays with Great Uncle David's Great Dane.

Paraquat Kelly: Bull heads, three red snapper, one pink snapper and your Pacific coastal trench hosemonster fish.

Cynthia Fox: Ohhh! At Sky David's juke joint of joy reports, forty under the console giggle stick ling cod, twenty-three purple perches four sledgehammerhead sharks, and what a surprise, eightyfour crabs, and no red snappers.

Paraquat Kelly: Hey, and that'll do for the triumphant return of the fish report with a beat.

Jim: We think of it as mainstreet, but to the rest of the country it's Sunset Strip. You're listening to KAOS in Los Angeles.

Not to totally derail this thread, but a few weeks ago I put an order together for bumper stickers with the "Warning: Driver carries less than $20 cache" thing on it, and the bozos screwed it up! icon_mad.gif And here I thought I'd been the first one to come up with this. icon_mad.gif

Thanks for asking that. It had me scratching my head, but I was afraid to start a new thread. Good thing this one was derailed.
