It took an approximately 7 days each for pages 192, 193, 194. It took only three days to run through page 195. Pages 192 thru 194 had the picture with the "topiary" at the top. Page 195 did not. Coincidence?

I have a concern...

 

Although I am newish to Geocaching, I worry for the future of caching in Penasquitos. There are 2 young men setting out caches and changing their usernames without much aforethought. One of them has changed his username and RELOGGED all of his finds from the previous username, but using TODAY'S DATE. Yes, they are enthusiastic and I have been able to get 2 FTF from the caches, but something does not seem right. Some of you have been to these caches and some have posted notes. I call upon your experience and knowledge.

If I understand it correctly, one of them changed his name and is logging the caches he did under his old name. I don't really have a problem with this. I assume he has abandoned his old name. It isn't like he is getting credit twice for a cache.

 

Since you can no longer change your username through Groundspeak, and have all of your old finds picked up under the new name, this seems like a way that you can change your name and still get credit for your old finds. Were I to change my name, I'd probably do the same thing. As for it being today's date, so? He found the cache, even if it was under his old name. It might be nice if he corrected the date, but It might just be that he is taking the easy way out.

 

I'm not sure why this should bother anyone. Or perhaps I just don't understand the scenario?

 

Of course, my opinion and a two bucks will get you a cup of coffee.

we're doing a rafting trip down the Colorado river through the Grand Canyon next week. Anybody aware of any caches down below? I believe we're starting at Whitmore Rapids and finishing up down on Lake Mead.

Funny thing. I was just looking at the Grand Canyon as well. We're planning a trip to the North Rim. Since it's a National Park, all the caches seem to be virtuals. But there are a few -- I didn't check along the the river though.

 

By the way, if you have Google Earth, zoom into the Canyon and change the tilt angle to something approaching horizontal. Then fly your way through...it's pretty wild. 15 years ago, who would have thought that you could do something like this...!

I e-mailed him yesterday and gave him a frendly "heads up" I knew he was a newbe and I was nice...

he replied with "I guess I am not cool" so I quess he does not care about etiquette.

Also his log for "San Jacinto" is an old "vacation" pic done long before he started caching.

 

However...I think he is a High School kid and we should give him some slack...for now.

For the Garmin mapping GPS folks out there (isn't that everyone ), they have come out with their next map update for City Navigator (v 8). No more City Select updates though. This update actually has my neighborhood in it finally.

 

I ordered the new software and a new 60CSx yesterday! Now I have to get on e-bay to sell my 60CS.

Bummer! I too, had to attend online traffic school......for going right on a red when I wasn't supposed too. Right into my son's school parking lot. He was in the back seat shrinking down so low that none of his friends could see him.

 

I did the Comedy traffic school. I think a lot of people do that one from what I've heard.

I want to thank all the SD cachers. Me and a group of 13 OC cachers had a great time out there on Sat. 7-8-06. We did a lot of puzzle solving before going and had a great time searching. Only 3 DNF's for us and 49 Finds in the 95+ heat. We started at 7:00am from The Waffle House in San Clementea and left SD at 8:00pm. Thank you all for making a great day for all of us.

 

Yeah be found a few Lamp Post hides but they it was all good. When we drove up all of us would jumped out run to the lamp post, it must of looked like a FBI raid.

Miragee made a Compilation List of 167 caches that I used to make this list.

I have been working with the Found caches in my GSAK database and adding more caches to my "Memorable Caches" bookmark list and more to my "Caches with a View" list.

 

The only problem I see with our list is that some caches that don't get visited very often, but which are really cool, like "Gaskill Peak," and "Valley Pillar via Quail Oasis," "Ghost Corral," and even my "Arachnophobes Not Invited" don't get on anyone's "Must Do" list . . .

 

We should have a "Must Do In The Winter When It Is Cooler" cache list.

 

And, how about a list for caches where you might see a mountain lion. Both my "Elevation 999" and "Canyon View" are on that list . . .

I think the cache I adopted called "P&K - Sunset" can be on that list. Just make sure you come from the south if you are going to do it that way.... and only post pictures of the sunset (no moons)!

But make sure that you don't back into your parking spot if you come from the south!
