Hi my name is Terry. I live in Ripon and I am new to geocaching. My husband bought me a Triton 400 but I am having trouble using it. I am wondering if there is anyone in the surrounding area that would be willing to help me out. I am so excited about getting started but I feel that I am stuck.

 

Here is probably the best site for triton users,

if We were still in the area We'd be glad to take you out caching. The one good thing I'll

say about the triton series is they are very accurate, the firmware is kind of clunky compared

to some of the units, but if you get used to it its not too bad.

One thing is make sure you have the latest firmware update on it. If you haven't installed

vantagepoint on your puter yet you need to do so its the only way to get the triton to talk to the puter.

Iam new to this GREAT GAME and I LOVE TO CACHE!

 

I need some help!!! I went out on a cache today and I was approched by the land owner stating I was on his land and that this was not the only time a fellow cacher has been on his land looking for a cache...any ways he tried to get my name and i gave a false name to him however he got my lic. plate # off my car and said he would call the local pd and turn me in for tresspassing.....and i told him about caching and moved on.....i know this cache was close by a no tresspassing sign that was not there a few weeks back...any way i emailed the owner just trying to give them a heads up and them just blew me OFF!! and all I was trying to do is say HEY LOOK HERE you may want to look into this.....but heres the DEAL!

 

THE COPS SHOWED UP AT MY HOUSE!!!!! Yeah thats right he really did call them and off my plate they found my address and had a talk with me.....so everything is ok but if I go back its not going to be a good thing..lol....So any way thats my story I tried to get some help and input off another site that you all know however I think the owner of that site is in with the cvc and took off my post....so thats my 2 cents and lookforward to putting this behind me....OK YOU ALL BEEN WARNED ABOUT THIS ONE! I dont think the next cacher will be so lucky in getting away with tresspassing!

myself I have been to that cache and when I found it over a year ago I know that the telephone pole was not on private property. the fence started after it. But of course that could of changed. Welcome to the wonderful world of caching. There are alot of great cachers here. SO once agian welcome.

I don't see it listed, but I also thought I remember them saying they weren't sure which campground yet? I think it was supposed to be Lake McClure right? But they needed to decide which exact campground.

We did it! I'm calling them (Merced Irrigation District) in the morning. If all is well, the event will be published tomorrow. Barrett's Cove - the "L" loop is what we liked best.

 

WOOHOO! I made my reservations! There are 9 spots left in L loop as of this moment (it's a small loop) and every site has hookups. FYI, the Swimming lagoon won't be filled until closer to memorial day, but there is a playground nearby also.

Barrett's cove was NOT available. We had to move to McSwain. I'll grab coordinates and publish the event this afternoon. At McSwain, the closest loop to the picnic shelter is the "A" loop. There are sites available (NON hook-up) in the A Loop. There are hook-up sites available in the C, D and F loops. (The last event we had there, we liked the F Loop for hookups.)

Listing Requirements / Guidelines." In order to continue success in

publishing your caches, I wanted to outline the changes for you. These

changes are being implemented in order to take geocaching back to its

roots.

 

Cache Size:

Cache containers must now be of the one quart size or larger. No "nanos,"

matchstick containers, or film canisters will be published. Existing micro

caches will be archived after a one month grace period.

 

Saturation:

The 0.1 mile saturation guideline is being increased to 0.5 mile. There is

also a new guideline for "linear" trails (sometimes referred to as "power"

trails). This guideline states that caches may be placed no closer than 2

miles apart and must be in a location that will "wow" your fellow cachers.

 

Challenge Caches:

A new cache type and icon is being established for "Challenge Caches." With

this new type is also the requirement that the Challenge Cache owner must

meet the challenge before the challenge can be published. In the case of

...I found two caches today. So I'm denouncing any talk about my back sliding. I'm not a muggle. I'm not a muggle. I'm not! And oh, I just completed 7 years in Geocaching too.

Oh, I'm sure I've averaged over a cache per month for the last 6.... Ya. I can remember at least 6 caches since the beginning of the year. And the fact that the last cache I found (a multi no less) was done without a GPSr, means I'm not fully digressed. [it does make one wonder why I forgot to take my GPSr while caching though ]

 

So was it just me or did everyone else notice Photom's ombudsman article was completely void of any reference to his addiction to Geocaching? Denial?! You be the judge. Otherwise, he has a very impressive background.

1. I was there. I learned that Team Alamo changed his name from Team Alamo to alamogal or something like that.

So I was at my sons baseball game when I realize there is a cach nerby GC19AZ0. (iPhone rules!) Didnt have to much time to check it out but did spend about fifteen minuites looking, any one want to give me a hint on warhrs' hide? I could not find it and will be back for another game this friday.

One of her events was called "Road Scholar" and is about map reading. She told me after the test the story line was all about Geocaching. Which I thought was pretty cool. She said they mentioned waypoints and cache locations. I was very proud of her bring home a gold medal in that event, a silver in "Elevated Bridge", and a Bronze in "Bio Process Lab". I'm happy to see caching spreading to other areas in a positive way!!!!

My daughter, Yaks-alot, was in the State Finals competition for MOCK TRIAL. They never mentioned anything about Geocaching however, her trial training from all the CVC courts payed off...

...she was convicted of Inciting a Riot and Arson... three times. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree! Huh?! Anyway, they scored in the middle of the other teams so not bad for the first time this little school represented San Joaquin at State Level.

 

Way to go to Ara's daughter!
