  1. Yes - that's what I'm doing. But the question is exactly how do I do it with one button push?
  2. My routine for geocaching is to drive to the proximity of the cache, then change the routing to direct routing, and change the screen to compass view. (Back out of map view to main menu, select "Where to", select "change routing to direct", backout to main menu and select compass view) The Oregon 600 is so customizable with profiles, shortcuts, programmable buttons. Whatis the best method to either do this automatically - or with the push of a single button?
  3. I like to say number two also happens. It happens a lot... I could see it if it was a new user that uses "enable cache" instead of OM. But the CO has been geocaching for just over 8 years, I'm kinda surprised. Ha!! All I can say is the last time I tried it, it did NOT clear the NM attribute. Maybe that cache had 2 logged NM logs or something, or I did it before the feature was implemented. I'll have to test it now,so I can remove my red face!~!
  4. <FEATURE> When the CO posts a log for owner maintenance, the system: 1) Automatically clears the "Needs Maintenance" attribute (if set) or 2) Has a check box that asks if the attribute should be cleared.
  5. Yeah, but seems as most folks have become Fascebookers. Checkout my response on Snores VII regarding your POWER....
  6. Stu & Noni said they did it in 14 hours 18 minutes. They also said to have a full tank of gas, water, etc 'cuz there nuttin' around.
  7. Nevada - stick these coords in Google Earth: N 37° 41.647 W 115° 50.004 You will see that, in addition to the power trail, there is a side set of caches that make a picture of an Alien Head on the map. From Merced - it's about 275 miles as the crow files.
  8. Over 1,000 caches - all 1/10 of a mile apart. When do we go??
  9. Hey Brute! I'm meeting Bill of Green Achers (now known as BOGA) in Turlock tomorrow. Want to tag along? We can have some ice cream with Bill and then find a few more...1,000 here you come.... I can pick you up around 2:30 pm...
  10. HEY!! I resemble that remark! Indeed, Markca - welcome aboard. The forum isn't as active as it once was - seems as though folks have tended to migrate to Facebook, along with 500 million others.

  12. If you can take a trip - go to Folsom at night for "Nocturnal Immersion." Take some friends!!
  13. So who's up for S'Mores & Snores VI on May 28th weekend??
  14. It's up to you of course, but we had a rash of that when some folks from SoCal attended Geowoodstock a couple years back. Seems like the group that actually found some caches was a small subset of those who logged them. Here's what some of us did: 1) Asked them to describe the container or something significant about the cache. If they didn't reply, or gave some lame excuse like, "I found so many that day, I don't remember anything" or some even replied "Just delete my find." We deleted the logs. 2) Others of our group just retrieved the logs and deleted any finders whose signature wasn't on it. 3) And others just ignored it.
  15. Hey Ron, Seems like you are taking the long road around using excel and all that. I'd take a peek at using GSAK - it's dynamite! BTW - welcome back! I've been doin' this since 2004 and have enjoyed finding at least 26 of your caches!
  16. Hi Ron, Seems to me like you're taking the long way around. I'd try taking a peek at GSAK - it's dynamite. BTW - welcome back! I've been doin' this since 2004 and have enjoyed finding at least 26 of your hides.
  17. There's not much life on the forum! Has everyone totally migrated to facebook or what? We have a dilemma - S'Mores and Snores! I sent an email about our annual Spring camp-out and received very little response. On the one hand, it would be a shame not to have our 5th annual camping event. On the other, it would be a waste of time to plan and execute it and no one comes. So - what's everyone think? Should we do it or not? All suggestions welcome. ANY MORE THOUGHT'S ON THIS SUBJECT? Now thinking later in May - maybe the 21st - 23rd. Does that work for anyone?

  19. I met with the head guy at Castle. We had a nice lunch and I showed him a couple cache locations. I don't know where he's been living, but he'd never even heard of geocaching. But he does think his 12-year-old would like to go sometime. The results? 1. Caching is legal as Castle but there may be some concerns with some of the placements. 2. Unlike what many people think, Castle is a live operational airport. 3. If the security folks were rude to anyone, they apologize. 4. Security should not be telling folks to leave, unless they were doing something they should not be doing. 5. There has been a serious problem with theft at Castle, so they are in a state of heightened security. Having said all that - we are planning to get together again to review more details. Local cachers may be asked to brief or train the security contractors. Some caches on the "airport side" of the base - if there are any, may need to be removed. Once completed, I'll notify y'all and the reviewers of the results.
  20. HOLD IT! Let's not confuse BOGA with life! He doesn't have one - just WORK (a four-letter word.)
  21. Hello Bill. Long time no see or hear. What the heck have you been doing since you have not been doing much caching? You just missed on great event. the 2nd Annual Winter Formal was a blast. Sorry not to see you there. Well maybe, just maybe, you will see fit to come to the 5th annual Snores and Smores event. Bill? Who's Bill?
  22. I'll ask the Merced County Spokesperson and post the answer here, stay tuned.
  23. Doesn't anyone like CVC TAG!!! any more? Last placed in mid October. Sigh.
