murfster Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 If you could live anywhere in Ontario, with reasonable cost of living, good weather and lots of caches where would you move to? Murfster Quote
TrimblesTrek Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 If you could live anywhere in Ontario, with reasonable cost of living, good weather and lots of caches where would you move to? Murfster Not sure exactly where it would be, but there would be no lampposts. As well, no store within a hundred miles would sell magnetic keyholders, empty film canisters, or nano containers. Only Rubbermaid, Tupperware, or ammo containers could be found to use for cache containers. No Era-Seal or (god forbid) that crappy Glad stuff. I'd be happy moving just about anywhere these conditions are met. -TT- Quote

brenda&&rew Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 (edited) If you could live anywhere in Ontario, with reasonable cost of living, good weather and lots of caches where would you move to? Murfster I would stay right where I am. Although the weather is not that great here at times and I would not miss the really cold winters but I am not much of a mover (only done so twice in my life). And where I am is pretty central in southernwestern Ontario so I am not far to do a road trip for a good day of caching. And not far to go to central Ontario at all. Now if I could do it without having to go to work then that would top it all! Edited August 1, 2009 by brendah Quote
The Blue Quasar Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Echoing the emotions of my friend TrimblesTrek, I think that I live in a great area for caching. The Niagara Escarpment makes for some great hiking and caching, be it Niagara itself, all the way round to Halton. I'm very happy to have such a great area for caching so close by. And lots of history here too... best of both worlds can be found Niagara but I agree that the "micronization" of caching here is not my style. But each to their own. BQ Quote
res2100 Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 For cache density I think it would be the west side of the GTA...probably Burlington. Best place to cache for enjoyment factor...That would have to be anywhere. There are fun, great, adventurous caches everywhere. Even the drivebys can be enjoyable. Last night my wife and I walked 600m for a driveby cache, then we had to walk back to get a pen from the car. I think it's more than just the cache location\hide itself, but the entire experience one gets. One thing that really makes a cache awesome is when I find or experience something that was way beyond my expectation or something that I have never seen or experienced in life before. Quote
Bullfrog Eh-Team Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 (edited) Very interesting to read about the persons looking for 'greener' pastures on the other side of the fence. And, most seem to be headed closer to the 'big smoke'. The Mag, the Murf, Twisty, Sticky, Hilsrus, Partsman, Flip Flop, and others of us already know the best place to live and cache in Ontario. When you live and cache in 'heaven' - why would you consider any other place ? The very best place is right outside your own door, in almost any direction. danoshimano Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Secretly I want to live on the Black River in Vankoughnet. There are even a few caches there. Quote

Almaguin Highlands is 'the' in place to be. We have to have the absolute best D5/T1 cache around, and even the lamp in the woods is incredible. OK, snow up the wazzoo for 6 months per year, and rain for the other six months, but that makes up for not having to go out every 3 minutes for another FTF at all odd hours of the night. Quote
TheDirectionalidiots Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 If you could live anywhere in Ontario, with reasonable cost of living, good weather and lots of caches where would you move to? Murfster Lol This might be biased but i like Hamilton. Its in the middle From Toronto to Niagara. An hour In any direction will take you to many caches. Quote

Tequila Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Barriefield Village, very historic. Close to Ottawa and an easy crossing to New York State and the cache rich Adirondacks. Not to mention that some truly nice geocachers live in the Ottawa and Kingston area. Quote

Binrat Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Gananoque Ontario Easy access to Kingston, Ottawa, New York State and the 1000 Islands. Reasonable housing costs and the Casino is right around the corner. Gets a little busy in tourist season, but very bearable. You looking to retire somewhere here in Ontario Murfster? Binrat Quote
Canadavey Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 My choice is the Niagara Region. I'm keep trying to persuade my wife into moving there, but with her years of seniority at the school board, she's really reluctant to budge from York Region... I keep trying though as I hate living here! Nothing beats the Niagara Escarpment for a good hike in my books. Quote
