+UTDARCY
Hello, My name is UTDARCY (Utah Darcy - Damian Darcy is my full name) As a former Search & Rescue Technician, EMT, and former Military man I wanted to pay tribute to those who serve. There are those who serve here and abroad. I have gathered 50 + Little Green Army men. By little I mean 1" tall by 1/2 to 1 3/4" wide by 1/2" thick. I have attached small 1.7 ML Microcentrifigal cache containers to them. Each will have a unique Cache Name beginning with "Men Of Honor" then a job title. A few examples are Men Of Honor - Astronaut ( being released in Florida) ** Men Of Honor - Medic ** Men Of Honor - Comunications Specialist ** Men Of Honor - Special Forces ** Men Of Honor - Armored Division.... ect ect ect. I will also include a Men Of Honor - Recruitment Soldier as well as various ranks, Private, Sargeant, Captain ect. I have numerous Geocachers who have graciously accepted my invite to help place and maintain these caches. I just wanted to see what other have to say about this project. Please post your remarks. --- This is not politically driven but rather a tribute to those who put themselves at risk from someone who has been where they are...... Thank you. D. +SgtSue
Mmmm. Guess no women have served to protect this country. No women Medics, EMTs, Firefighters, Drill Instructors, Astronauts, Commo Specialist, Logistics Specialist, Air Defenders. Let me take my boots off and get my uniform set up for tomorrow then I'll think about this. Please don't tell me you went through Basic at Ft Jackson during the 70s I may have to turn in my hat. Been there, done that, got a lot more than the t-shirt. Quote Link to comment
+GEO*Trailblazer 1
I like the Idea. What about one near D-Day Adventure Park? Where they pay tribute by re-enacting the Battle with paint ball markers and a replica of 725 acres built like the beaches at Normandy. I already have some geocaches but we could add one more. PM me. Sorry Didn't mean to Offend. Men & Woman of Honor seemed a bit too long for a cache name. I'll make sure I include Woman in the cache pages & descriptions. As for Fort Jackson I was there in the mId 80's Quote Link to comment
+Semper Questio
It will be interesting to see how far this idea goes. A caching buddy of mine here wanted to place a caching in honor and remembrance of all veteran's. It was refused until he took all that out of the description because of the 'promote an agenda' clause. Edited June 5, 2009 by Semper Questio Quote Link to comment

+tzipora
It has to be possible. We've got one at the Veterans' Memorial called "some gave all". That sounds pretty similar to what you're looking at. Quote Link to comment

Stormrider45
While I am not a terribly active geocacher, the dogs and I do enjoy getting out now and again and hunting for a cache. In this topic, I was reminded about how far we, as a once united people have fallen. To be reminded that the mere fact of honoring our veterans is a potentially disqualifying effort is beyond description. We wouldn't be able to do this were it not for the sacrifices made by the men and women that have given their time and sometimes their lives to this nation. This is not about relgion, class, ethnicity, race or politics. It is about the efforts of men and women willing to do what most others are not. My thanks to those on this forum that honorably served and my contempt to those that while able, chose to sit on their butts and leave the business of freedom to men and women better than they. See to your weapons and stand to your horses Stormrider1945 Quote Link to comment
