  1. My second gps was a 60CSx and a great locator is was and still is. I really haven't had problems down loading off either the cache page or PQ, but one thing I gurantee it that you need to go to garmin and get the latest version upgrade for that unit, it could be something as simple as that. Other than that the only other suggestion would be to go and invest a few bucks and use the GSAK program. When I was caching with my 60 I invested ing GSAK and had a PDA for my cache notes and between the two I was set.

  3. So what I understand is that the time and effort in the person that's doing this is not appreciated? Maybe he/she is a newbie and hasn't put out any hides. Maybe they are not familar with the way caches are placed or recorded or whatever. Maybe they have some finds and are feeling guilty about not having any hides out. I always look to learn no matter what the placement is, sometimes LP hides aren't what you expect, and I've found that to be true more than a couple of times on LP hides.
  4. I have a garmin etrex legend c, this is the first unit I bought. I since then upgraded to a garmin 60 csx. Both units are taken very good care of, the legend c I got back in Sept 08 and has never been left in the car. The rubber came undone and I e-mailed garmin for a replacement rubber and tape that goes around the perimeter. They told me that I had to send it in and for $80.00 they could repair it. I have glued it back a couple of times, hopefully the last time will hold for a while as I prepped the unit really good. It's a shame that something as simple can't be addressed for a reasonable repair bill
  5. Since we're clearing a few things up what's up with that? 29Sep70 D-16-1 Ft. Jackson S.C. basic training.
  6. Are you kidding me? Geocaching, according to the website, is a family sport. People are supposed to realize that a five year old might be looking with their parents. A condom is totally contrary to the guidelines that Groundspeak intends the sport to follow. We take our five kids with us all the time. The oldest is 10, the youngest is not even one. We love it. I would hope that people would respect that fact and remember it before they put any adult material in a cache.
  7. I was wondering if you still have item? I was looking into the paperless caching but I wasn't all that knowledgeable about it. thanks
  8. Hey thanks abunch for the reply, I guess I'll have to put one of those on my Christmas list.
  9. Hey, thanks for the link, that looks really great
  10. I have a etrex legend c gps and just got off the phone with garmin. My question is how do I expand the notes on my unit? The coordinates and notes downloaded off geocaching.com is reflected in my compass page but I can not expand the notes for my own use. If the notes consist of 18 charactures then I have to delete all notes to install my notes. If the note that was downloaded contains 9 charactures then I have to do the same, I can not continue from the end of the downloaded note. It would be nice to expand the note on the geocache to put in infomation regarding the cache it's self, thanks for any advise.
  11. The unit comes with a base map, that only has major roads and highways. Not all that useful, really. Your unit has 24MB of internal memory, and doesn't take expansion cards, so you have to select what map segments you want, and may need to overwrite them with different segments if you want to use it in a different part of the country. Since your unit does do auto-routing, I'd suggest the MapSource City Navigator North America (assuming that's where you're located). Thanks for the info
  12. I'm relatively new to this new found hobby. I purchased a Garmin etrex legend c a couple of days ago and have a question about putting a map on it. I believe the map that's on it came with the unit on a CD. My question is can I download a different map on it and if I can could I download something like that is on this website when I go to get my caches? The maps they use here are really good and it would be nice to have something like that on my Garmin. Thanks, and I've enjoyed everything about this website.
