BRTango
OK, quick question for my caching trip tomorrow. This question goes out to anyone in an area with bears AND without caves. In the absence of a cave (there arent many around here), where to bears sleep (there are a lot around here), if I run across a big pile of snow, slowly moving up and down with a little tuft of fur coming out of the bottom... Should I assume that it is not the cache? Quote Link to comment
+El Diablo
They hibernate in hollow trees, caves, under brush piles, under boulders and will sometime dig a den in the side of a hill. El Diablo Quote Link to comment

+Airmapper
Most of the bears around here dig dens in slopes of at least 45 degrees. Do these bears use protractors, or some of those 45-45-90 degree contractor angles for that. Quote Link to comment

+Bear_Left
We sleep in beds... usually under a doona (aka duvet aka continental quilt) unless it's a warm night, in which case a sheet is all that's required. If you stumble across us while we're asleep in our bed(s), you'd better have a GPSr and do some _real_ fast talking! Quote Link to comment
BRTango
Uh... yeah... hi. Sorry to disturb you. see, I have a GPS and for some reason it lead me here. Can I look under your bed? Real quick like. Hey, there's a cache under there... can I, uh... sign your log? No... No.... not that... your log BOOK... I wanted to sign your log Book. T- basket L- a will to my family.... I like the new commercial for some SUV (forget the make) where the bears check to see that someone's been using there's and some very very attractive adult "goldilocks" is seen driving off with the smallest bear's one. Just curious, why did you say "sleep" as "s****" in the title if that's what you mean. And yes, bears do both of them Quote Link to comment

+cachew nut
Hopefully the bear will have a pen... I always forget to bring a pen. If they are already sleeping in a pen then I wouldn't worry too much. Getting them into a pen that you bring with you might be difficult. Quote Link to comment
+Ambrosia
While doing the oldest active WA cache, Mountain Marsh (check one of the pics), we found lots of fairly fresh bear scat. Didn't make our family feel very safe. Quote Link to comment
