A unusual thing happened at our house ...

bbabda07-1bc1-48ef-9849-2d974e10a383.jpg

Yesterday a UPS truck pulled up to our place and dumped a

1-800-FLOWERS carton onto our porch. Sure enough it was

addressed to our name, address, and space number. Made no

sense to us.

Looked in our park telephone book without result and so

I called the flowers-number and reported the incorrect

delivery. I was thanked and advised that because flowers

are perishable, the delivery wouldn't be picked up.

Opened the carton and found a condolence card, vase, and

bouguet of fragrant lillies. At my age I asked my sweet

bride "Is here something I should know, did I pass away?"

Today our telephone rang and I was asked "Did you receive

a delivery of flowers?" Chat-chat and then ... "A couple of

us will come over and pick the flowers up." Three showed up

just as my sweet bride returned home to be asked "Are you

Sandy?" and "We're here to get the flowers." Imagine her

surprise.

Hearing the conversation I stepped out of the door to see

and realize that Michelle of Geoaching Snflwrmsh fame was

leading the recovery team. Go figure, the owner of the

"Senior Living" hide that's at the entrance to our park.

Some kind of convergence going on ... scawy!

Now THAT's pretty cool!! Reminds me of a wind chime thing we once had...

Thanks Tom,

By golly Geocaching wind-chimes might be

another good marketing niche for you.

Think of it, Geocaching wind chimes with

a built-in cache container.

No charge for the idea,

Harmon

I think Jodi's already done it and patented it...

Easy to see what John was doing with his hands!

Tighten up on him Jodi or he'll go feral on y'.

Wasn't there a movie about a Palm Springs weekend... someone's got some splaining to do!

Been busy up here, we had a lady missing for 3 three days, finally we got her back, healthy. Most of us are dog tired though.

I'm not going to try that thing I can't pronounce while tired, or even if it's a quiz item...

Back to napping, and plotting a mountain top FTF sometime, just showed yesterday while I was grabbing the new valley bottom one.

A decoy that.

When it comes to the horrific event associated with those

frisky Tralfamadorians a prayerful song is surely called

for. Well done James.

What with the Lemurians and the Tralfamadorians it's a wonder

that humanity endured. Those frisky Tralfamadorians rose out

of the most destructive military campaign in history ... even

though they existed only in literature.

Gosh, ain't Geocaching educational?

Glad you are pleased Sue, you and Mom and Chelsea deserve

the honor, if indeed an honor it is.

Actually I've thought of Thirsty Ladies but it stumps me to

figure out the membership of that gang of rascals. When it

comes down to it ol' Harmon ain't dumb enough to leave-out

some card-carrying member of that traveling circus knowing

that I might pay a dear price for any such mistake.

Of course if somebody can furnish a sanctioned group shot

then I can avoid naming names by using the "Thirsty Ladies"

text as the banner, except the banner would probably lie

horizontally rather than on angle.

One thing for sure, I'm really in favor of this task because

once upon a time I encountered a roving squad of Thirsty

Ladies while out Geocaching and had the pleasure of being

scrum-hugged by the lot of them.

What about this?

Or this?

Good gosh, ... abstract art strike your fancy?

Jodi as 3D Color-Gradient Sphere

See, there's photojournalism where photos are not

altered in the least; so they say, and there's

photographic art where anything goes.

Here's the funny thing ... if a crumpled beer can

appears in a photojournalism image it must remain.

However, if you ask a photojournalist "Say you

notice crumpled beer can in a scene you mean to

shoot, do you remove it?" The reply will be "Why,

yes, of course do." Go figure.

Now I'm not saying that there's any connection

between a crumpled beer can and an abstract shot of

my gal-pal Jodi.

Challenge: Identify the source photo.

The neat part is that the 3D image retains all of

the digital information needed to reconstruct the

source image. How's that for encoding? Maybe I

should do a few puzzle caches using this approach

by starting with a source photo of a Garmin 60CSx

that displays the needed coordinates.

O what th' heck ...

got any pics of the sail rig?

This is the tops'l schooner Cailfornian. Here she is as I saw her in 2004. The puff of smoke is from the fact that she has just fired one of her 6 pound guns. (She's a replica of the C.W. Lawrence which was a revenue cutter operating off the coast of California circa 1850.)

d8bb7043-970e-427b-9e07-053162c75048.jpg

Great... Just what we need for 'treasure hunting' in style. I prefer them topside... got to poke around too many wrecks in the Great Lakes a bit to late for that.

Used to get out on STV Pathfinder in Toronto for a sail now and then... it was brigantine rigged.

Toronto Brigantine

Then the Sea Cadets turned HMCS Haida into a display of a WWII vintage destroyer complete with summer camp living on board.

HMCS Haida

That is not sail of course, but still interesting. Not sure if the Cadet summer camp still uses it since it was relocated.

What happens when there's a party of

fourteen for Sandy's 65th birthday.

I rode in the rear seat and got to the

Catamaran about fifteen minutes after

the front-seat riders. By the time I

seen the show, and were climbing back

in to head for home. Only thing left

for me to do was to pay the bill and

grab a taxi for home.

See what happens when you marry into

All was not lost however ... that limo
