Seems like the fallen section is a long way from the mating piece as though it slid or bounced after falling. Should have looked things over much better but I had miles to go on tired legs. 7rxc
Luckily I was on foot. Super glad I wasn't above with my truck when it fell since there's no other road out and no way to bypass. Maybe a new "Squeeze" for the San Diego off-road crowd. My guess is that a helo' air-lift would be the same as a new truck. As far as image editing ... I think that falling-rocks sign and the two- frame panorama was a nice touch. Well... it could have been worse... the cache you were seeking MIGHT have said "hidden in UPR at the base of the BIG rock". Doug 7rxc Quote Link to comment

Mostly a Coal and Logging town. however you can use Elkford, BC on the Hide and Seek page to see all the caches which are and are NOT around here... I think there are currently 4 in town, 1 just outside on the hillside, 1 up at Josephine Falls and 3 over across the river from the south edge of town... We've been planning more in town but... we have things going on like the fire prevention guys are doing massive 'fuel' reduction clearcuts that take out trees galore... THAT is NOT a bad thing... this has been overgrown far too long... and our famous beetle kill problem is killing it anyways. So get it while it's worth anything is the rule and reduce the real fire threat to the town while doing it... NOT as bad as it sounds... besides two of the new caches belong to fyrfytr... the FIRE CHIEF. I like your choice of local picture... That is the front yard of the building I live in! Look in the pic above the closest deer... in the parking you'll see my tired old red Jimmy 4x4... Not my pic though... that chap does much of the Panaramio around here, but I believe he has moved. There are more caches up the valley and around Highway 3 thru the valley towns. Fernie has a bunch... Fairly new sport here. No lakes right here... but the area around Cranbrook might have something... certainly lots of caches around there... the St. Eugene Casino/Hotel has golf and nice facilities... But it sounds a long trip for you... and I hear you guys are approaching our gas prices! You can get a flight to the Cranbrook (Canadian Rockies Int'l) Airport of course... but I think you said that isn't your plan at all. If you change your mind, the Okanagan Valley to the west is nice in the fall... try Kelowna BC... lots of golf and wine tourism there. Lots of caches too. edit: had to fix the airport name.. ha. +SD Rowdies
Harmon: Can you explain the VRBO and how they work? For sure, jusr Google "VRBO" and then spend money. http://www.vrbo.com/ No, seriously, Vacation Rental by Owners is a website that lists vacation rentals where a rentor deals directly with a property owner rather than through a rental agency. Of course there are local property managers that look after things when owners are away. For each listing one can view a description, and photos of the property, an interactive calendar for scheduling, and contact information for the owner. Rental rates are offered for nightly, weekly, and even monthly. Sandy and I have rented through VRBO near Mt. Shasta, eastern and southern Arizona, England, southern France, and more. Our experience has been terrific so far ... monthly rentals in fabulous places at rates that compare with cheap Motels. At present we have our eye on a lakeside property in Colorado during late September and early October for kayaking, hiking, off-roading, and of course Geocaching amongst the autumn leaves. Gives us a home-base to explore round and about the adjoining territory. In Provence we had a rustic, quaint river-stone house situated in a tiny hilltop hamlet named St. Roman de Malegarde amongst the vinyards and just west of Mt. Ventoux and within easy driving distance from all of the ancient wonders of southern France. Too good for words! Put simply VRBO has been our portal into many wonderous travel adventures. Once contact is made with an owner I use Google Earth to look over the property and the surrounding area by way of final assessment. Cardinal rules for a good life? * Something to do * Someone to love * Something to look forward to * No puzzle caches Home-basing round and about the world is icing on the cake. Yeah, sure, but the place was loaded with Lemurian books, tapes, and doctrine. Each year there's a huge gathering of upscale Lemurians, all there to meet, greet, and rub elbows with the Lemurian Channelers such as the renowned Pepper Davis. Now here's the thing, get this, Lemurians are very tall and the few that are amongst us here on the surface of earth are all scientific and technical. So who do we know around San Diego County that is very tall and a technical whiz, hmm? So reading between the lines, it seems to me that LLOT is one of the Atlantis Lemurians that are amongst us dumb-as-a-stump topside inhabitants to show us the way to ascend (descend?) into Lemurianism and so live in the Lemurian cities that are within our hollow earth such as Telos which is 400-miles directly beneath Mt. Shasta, only upside down from our point of view. I ain't makin' this stuff up either, it was all right there for the reading and watching at Michael's Mystic Mountain Retreat. Messin' around with a bunch of sweet San Diego ladies like Janie and Jodi is one thing, but when you go messin' around with a guy who you know owns a shotgun and likes to shoot turkeys (aka dumb birds, aka 'ol eleven fangers)...well, you're just about asking for it! Let me say, it's been good knowin' ya, and you'll be sorely missed (unless, of course, Team Fatman takes pity on you, but I won't be holding my breath!) Sincerely, Darlin' Sue Note to self: Remember to send nice flowers to Harmon's better half...and sooner rather than later... Quote Link to comment

Taking that fact together with th' fact that you're th' only vine ripened ol' gal that has ever carved me up with a knife, you might recall, as in carving me up like a Thanksgiving turkey makes me wonder about your anxiousness to incite John th' turkey bagger against me. I'm just concerned that your recent lack of self-control may get you into some seriously deep trouble (about 6' deep). Janie and Jodi just place more caches when you mess up (albeit ones up on high mountain tops requiring hours and hours of strenuous hiking), but I'm afraid a guy like Team Fatman might handle things a bit differently... And you don't need any help inciting 'John the turkey bagger' against you--you're doing just fine all by yourself (you and Photoshop, that is)! Making up some Yrium card layouts in advance is a good idea, considering your bent for trouble. Just make sure you let your wife know where you have them stored. Sue Quote Link to comment

Sue "Recent lack of self control ...," that's a good one Sue. The word "recent" opens up a whole new range of speculation for me. So what I'm learning from this exchange is that you harbor a measure of heartfelt concern for my welfare. Last time that I experienced a woman's heartfelt concern was in El Paso, Texas at age five when a neighboring woman gave me a new pair of shoes. The new shoes took some getting used to because they were the first pair of shoes I ever put on. Years later I learned that a pair of shoes come in a right-foot and a left-foot setup but by then it was too late t' know it b'cause my feet had adapted to th' crosswise fit. Now don't be laughin' at me 'cause I was stupid. I wasn't stupid, I was just ill-informed and somewhat distracted by those truly uncomfortable shoes. Imagine, at five years old it was my first occasion to use th' f-word, though ungrammatically, in a sentence even though I used it twice in th' same sentence; once about th' shoes and once about the effect th' shoes were having on my poor little feet. My momma whupped th' tar out o' me for not bein' more thankful for th' new shoes. Wait a minute, now I've forgot whut I started off talkin' about. I never quite thought about it, but I guess I am quite a Friend of the Frog... I recently received this from the Lily Pond to thank me for 5-years of service!!! Tom, Five years of putting far more into Geocaching than you ever take out, you are amongst my most admired of friends. Thank you ever-so much for all you have done and will, hopefully, continue to do. San Diego County Geocaching without Flagman would be ever-so much less enjoyable. Saving the pollywogs was above and beyond the call of duty. That has to be one of the most uncommon acts of your life; especially knowing that you had to construct a small road-bridge to safely effect that rescue. Elaborating on your contributions would be near impossible but do allow me to mention the time and effort you expend to arrange special events such as the incomparable M*A*S*H Event and time and assets spent to look after the Yrium card collections. On the other hand I dare mention that communist pinko reviewer guy alter-ego of yours that wrings joy out of the aching hearts of Geocachers such as poor ol' me that are either dumb as a stump or else relentlessly defiant when it comes to following the cache-hiding saturation rule.
