  1. When I look at my log it says I was awarded the Souvenir, but when I look at my profile the Souvenir isn't there.
  2. RIP Iron Chef... Here's a link to the Yrium Cards Udesignit TB...
  3. +1 Add me to the list of those who are greatly saddened by your loss...
  4. You can see all the cards displayed in the Gallery of this TB: http://coord.info/TB9E
  5. This was the fattest rattlesnake I have ever come across on a trail. Spotted near the Sweetwater Bridge on the Connector Trail from the West Side Trail and Hwy 79. The pictures really don't do it justice. He was so fat I think I would've tripped over him if I hadn't seen him.
  6. Stonewall Peak or Half Dome?!? If you look carefully, you will note the shirt is from Half Dome...
  7. FlagMan, Even though I planned to close the loop that would include East Side Trail between East Mesa Parking and Sweetwater Parking and from there along the Harvey Moore to the shortcut to East Mesa Fire Road I now favor your proposal to drive a stake in the heart of the Cuyamaca Campaign and define it as you propose. I also agree to let those few old orphans in the East Mesa area rest in peace. They played no part in the campaign. Thing is that there are a few dedicated Geocachers that have not only worked very hard to move this zany campaign along at a goodly pace but are very nearly if not actually in position to qualify for the HOF as you propose it. It would be grand to see a few user-names on the HOF list from the outset. Also I propose that the two reviewers that supported this campaign without complaint and with dispatch should be inducted into the Cuyamaca HOF at the outset. It amazed me to see how fast a new set of hides could be reviewed and published, time and again. Bravo! For my part the pleasure has been in the adventure, the scenery, the hiking, the weather, and the companionship. My defining moment was standing at the Sweetwater stream crossing knowing that if I put a large number of hides on Saddleback Trail then the usual suspects would be tempted to pull off their boots, roll up their pants, and wade across. With that realization in mind there was no turning back ... neither streams, nor rain, nor snow, nor fallen trees could stop me until Middle Peak was conquered. Working out a procedure for placing so many hides was interesting as well. Using Google Earth map-pins and ruler tool to pre-plan hide locations and using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, a camera, and a field journal for hints made it possible after each arduous hike to recall what the devil I had done along those many trails. Gosh knows if ever I'll make the HOF list ... so many hides left behind while placing I know not how many new hides. Each day now I'm receiving a cascade of emails and enjoying the log entries and photos that have been posted ever-so much. Isn't it grand to have such a fine collection of Geocachers in our county? So it goes, Poor ol' Harmon SD Rowdies Note to Self: Yeah, and so far nobody has been eaten by a Mountain Lion. Note two Self: Why the devil didn't somebody stop me? Harmon, don't stop on account of me or anything I've said or done. The "Campaign" should continue for as long as you want to continue it. All of the Halls of Fame are works in progress, and caches keep getting added and deleted all the time. Just yesterday, three more were added to the list for Cuyamaca. And Duncan! has suggested that the ones north of Oakzanita on that Harvey Moore trail and some others near the lake really should be included at some point. But those ones should wait, I think, until the usual suspects who might be trying to qualify can complete the actual "Campaign."
  8. Here's what FlagMan's map looks like now... These all seem to be the right ones to include in the HoF. If anyone thinks others should be added, please feel free to let me know. But this includes all the ones in the "Campaign" as well as the ones along the 79 and just about anything that needs to be hiked to. Mizpah was excluded because it is pretty much a drive-up. The ones east of the 79 and north of Oakzanita were excluded because they weren't part of the "Campaign" and nobody seems to be paying any attention to them. Does anyone even know how to access them? Anyhoo, comments are welcome...
  9. Hey Harmon, that's a clever touch on the poster. I love it, Harmon!! I've been out of touch with the internet since Monday so I'm just seeing this for the first time. Very fun!! Can't wait to hike to these caches! Maybe I'll rent the movie, too. Nancy, Not sure that a tough-guy WWII flick of this sort is appropriate for Pt. Loma residents. The section of the poster where it says "EXCITE THEM!" is very much out of touch with present-day society. Just so you'll know, Harmon Hmmmm........defined by my place of residence, eh??? I think Harmon just wants you to come out to Lakeside -- its much more exciting out there!! Pretty cool poster, Pal!! Thanks for including me. I think I just have one or two more hikes to clear it all out. Are we talking Hall of Fame?!? If you don't do it maybe I will. Nancy, My remark had more to do with the redkneck tri-cities than with Point Loma. FlagMan, I've been so hoping that you would offer to set up an honor role for this campaign. Good news is that the campaign is almost finished. OK, Pal. Consider it done. Let me know when the campaign is finished and, as soon as I qualify for the HoF, I'll place a HoF cache... It's definitely over, here's the proof. An authentic Middle Peak Grotesque that almost bit me in the rump. Tell me true, ain't that creepy? Besides, BlondHiLites upstaged me with her cute doggie images for her Sugar Pine Trail hides. I'm whupped! As far as the Cuyamaca HOF goes I'm also whupped; maybe I should have slowed down and grabbed all of those finds I bypassed along the way. No problem, just boils down to more hikes that are sure to be good for my hearteries. One thing for sure, the Cuyamaca HOF list is sure to be headed by FlagMan ... such an animal, day and night. Goferit! Poor ol' Harmon OK, give me a week or so, weather permitting, to grab these new ones and the ones on and around the Airplane Monument hike and I'll put one out. That is, unless someone else beats me to it. My criteria is that I need to qualify before I create a HoF, but that's just me. But we should definitely have one for this area...

  12. All of the sudden my Garmin Oregon 300 has a really slow map refresh rate when in the Geocaching Profile, or any other profile other than automotive. The automotive profile seems to work fine with turn by turn refresh rates. But the cache icons in Geocaching mode just don't refresh anymore. Sometimes I wait literally minutes for them to refresh if I zoom in or out or move the map around. This is new to this unit. I am thinking there must be some setting I need to change or something. I've tried everything I can think of -- reloading maps with fewer maps loaded; making sure the software is up to date; reducing the number of WPs loaded. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas?
  13. Edit... Sooo... any clues if that was the cache??? Ok, really not that curious, this is more like a thread bump... J John, are you bored??? One of our caches still hasn't been found for over a year...... . John I thought FlagMan had found every J&J cache. Is he lagging? I was beta-tester on that one, lulu...
