Say, this reminds me that you once made a remark about

using a similar diamond-plate image for a GeoCoin. If

you want I can do a circular diamond-plate layout for

you so it would fit nicely on a coin.

 

Still putting myself through the paces to learn how all

the 3D features work on Photoshop CS5 Extended. Almost

there and becoming anxious to start thinking of unusual

uses for 3D/2D compositions.

Not sure about any "mistakes" but I do see the thing sticking up from the rear window of Car 33 and also a shadow behind Car 33 that doesn't seem to belong...

Well done Flagman, yes, there's a tiny piece of

Car 33 missing above the rear window-frame and

that dark shadow you mention would have been

blocked by the white car.

 

Sloppy work I must say but, after all, it wasn't

being done for a YMS card nor for profit and I

was pressed for time by lingering domestic duties

if y' get my meaning.

 

Taken as an example of Photoshop compositing it

illustrates the maxim that shadows most easily

make or break a compositing result. When judging

the fidelity of a photograph look critically at

the shadows. Proper placement, opacity, blur,

and dispersion of shadows is one of the cardinal

Photoshop skills.

 

Rats, I've done it a again ... responding as

though this Forum thread has a following. Three

or four paragraph replies ... so old fashioned,

akin to writing with quill and ink on parchment

and no "Like" button. Those were the days my

friend.

Thought I'd drop back by again... especially since it's critique time apparently...

 

I'd go with the car (56 from the src pics) shadow that should have been removed from behind 33 since it should have been from 4x the white car..

and you appear to have slipped up on the door post of 56 overlapping the roof of the 33 just a bit while fitting in that last decal... just a bit of 'black'. At least you removed that person standing behind the 33 in the source pic... Was he the over the wall 'beer' refill person for the team?

Golly-gee-whizz James, how can I ever thank you? What's the word

On the other hand I am ever-so grateful for the first-ever "Likes

If you mean Photoshop the software... nope... if you mean photoshop as a verb... then yes... I use an older Paint Shop Pro 7, have to get the newer Corel version one day... since they bought out PSP a while back. It doesn't matter a dang about the software anyhow, anyone knows it's the operator... isn't it. I think you said it well that the image only has to impress (not fool) the eye well enough to do it's job... NASA knows about that part, they still get flack over mission photos... so they edit and retouch media pics... Everyone in media does it... as long as the story isn't faked deliberately and passed off as legit. Nothing wrong with obvious spoofing though is there? I was taught photography and photo analysis by my grandfather who was a WW I observer/photographer with the Royal Flying Corps (Canada)... take em and then interpret what you shot... and it stuck well... I can see more in a pic than most people, and prove it in that game I mentioned... then turn around and teach the ones who are just starting out... not everything though... just don't have the time... but the basics and how to figure it out for themselves... makes for better cache finders when they are looking for real caches... not many around here anyway, but the hard finds are all mine...

See if you can spot the tiny mistake I made when selecting and

placing Car 33 into the background shot. By the way, as an image

editor I truly appreciate the click-image resizing option added by

Groundspeak as seen just above the final layout.

 

Thought I'd drop back by again... especially since it's critique time apparently...

 

I'd go with the car (56 from the src pics) shadow that should have been removed from behind 33 since it should have been from 4x the white car..

and you appear to have slipped up on the door post of 56 overlapping the roof of the 33 just a bit while fitting in that last decal... just a bit of 'black'. At least you removed that person standing behind the 33 in the source pic... Was he the over the wall 'beer' refill person for the team?

difficult thing to explain. Stay with me on this ....

 

First of all I've been reading many of the old literary classics since

buying an Amazon Kindle, something like twenty-six books since

mid-December last, and once seeing the image above I thought that it

captured the essence of European peasantry as depicted in those old

classics such as Great Expectations, Crime and Punishment,

Les Miserables, War and Peace, and others.

 

Well then, one day while Geocaching I learned that James of LLOT fame

had much to do with development of the Amazon Kindle. So when I first

viewed the image above ... noting European peasantry, the Kindle, the

classics, and thus by association James of Kindle Whispernet-chip fame

the idea of altering the image clicked. I kid you not!

 

You can surely see how it all ties in ... like a spock mind-meld, yes?

So it was an easy leap on my part to realize that adding James's face

to the image would serve as a subtle, though obscure, tribute to my pal

James.

 

That leaves the matter of associating Jim of KWVERS! with the image and

with the literary classics. To me that's much too obvious to dwell upon

so I leave it to your imagination.

 

Finally, to remove all doubt about the authenticity of the tale as told

above I am in a position to say that it is entirely true in every detail

because I made it up myself.

 

Not to worry ... really, I'm O.K., honest I am.

 

Note to Self: Probably shouldn't mention that my granddaughter is the world's shortest blacksmith.

Luckily I was on foot.

 

Super glad I wasn't above with my

truck when it fell since there's

no other road out and no way to

bypass. Maybe a new "Squeeze"

for the San Diego off-road crowd.

 

My guess is that a helo' air-lift

would be the same as a new truck.

 

As far as image editing ... I think

that falling-rocks sign and the two-

frame panorama was a nice touch.
