+Rygel
If I were to do a cache that was only reachable by canoe or kayak, would that be acceptable? In the colder months here in NJ the cache would probably be unreachable. Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine. Quote Link to comment
+Team OUTSID4EVR
I have a canoe only cache, Tuckahoe By Sea. As long as it's rated 5 for terrain (special equipment..) I don't see why it would not be approved. Quote Link to comment
+georgeandmary
It's a good challenge, don't forget to tell them where to park. george Pedal until your legs cramp up and then pedal some more. Quote Link to comment
+Markwell
Just don't be surprised if people decide to walk out anyway. See Row, Row, Row Your Boat. We've also got a great one around here: Paddle Your Canoe, A lot Markwell Chicago Geocaching Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
Absolutly. Just rate it 5 for terrain and say what equipment you need. Wherever you go there you are. Quote Link to comment

Not only acceptable, encouraged. While I don't currently own a boat of any kind, if there was somewhere relatively near the cache to rent one, I'd probably hunt the cache if I was in the area or someone placed one within my "home range" I'm lost. I've gone to find myself. If I should happen to get back before I return, please ask me to wait. Quote Link to comment

Let me know when and where, I'll be there! Like others said, make sure it gets rated a 5 terrain, and make it very clear in the discription that a boat is required. +oregone
Nehalem Dock and Wild in the City both require kayaks to be accessed. 2925 KINDA needs a boat, but only if you're a big fat wussy--as proven by the pictures of area cacher 'The Tungsten Jihad!.' Just don't be surprised if they sit for dozens or even hundreds of days without a find. all rights reserved, all wrongs reversed Quote Link to comment
BassoonPilot
How are you going to determine that they didn't use a rowboat ... or old inner tube? Quote Link to comment

They could, I guess. But the place I'm thinking lends itself to canoe or kayak. They definitely couldn't use a power boat because they aren't allowed. Dinoprophet
Here's mine. It had only three hits for the first six months (plus an accidental find). Since the end of January, with the lake frozen, it's had more than twice that. "Winter's just the curtain. Spring will take the bow" -- Richard Shindell, Spring Quote Link to comment
+cmachler
I placed one along the Missouri in central Montana that my dad maintains for me... if anyone actually decides to look for it that is. Here is the link. I gave it four stars on the terrain because it is accessable by ground vehicle, albeit a very rough ride. Quote Link to comment

I'm planning a third one here in New Orleans, if I could just get off my butt... Quote Link to comment
+Newenglandah
I think there should be more of these, esp. Island to Island Multi caches....Go For IT Found the cache but where is that damm GPS? See You In the Woods!!! Natureboy1376 Quote Link to comment
+FLFireCapt478
That are several "accessible by boat only" caches around me here in southwest FL. This is one Key Cache and also Manatee Moonlight Madness. Niether of these are rated a 5 for difficulty. Something to consider. Hope this helps. Quote Link to comment
+flask
now that it's winter, some of our water caches are becoming MORE popular. the ice is several feet thick, and it's bitter cold. some boat only caches have now become drive-ups. of course, i feel the need to stress caution, but i keep walking out to these locations only to find pickup trucks parked right next to them. which is handy, because i'm thinking of one that needs a ladder. it doesn't matter if you get to camp at one or at six. dinner is still at six. +bitbrain
I have an island cache that is best reached by canoe, but the only finders to date waded across the river to it. Quote Link to comment
