I am having problems with the Geocaching map on browser.

Lists, the Search Map and the Cache Owner Dashboard are three services that aren't working right now. Geocaching HQ has been informed, but keep in mind that it's very early in the morning there.

The Browse Map is still working, so that is a partial workaround.

I just went to a cache page, then hit the "View Larger Map", and I still get the white page.

Edit: I am using Chrome Browser.

It isn't just me!! Thanks other geocachers for reporting this. I don't have time to be without my computer right now. When I started checking other browsers I decided it must be Chrome. I only have problems with the search map. I can get the browse map but I am planning a trip and need that search map.

Hi there,

same issue here with following browsers:

Google Chrome Version 89.0.4389.114 (Offizieller Build) (64-Bit)

Firefox 86.0.1 (64-Bit)

no problem with following browser

Microsoft Edge Version 89.0.774.75 (Offizielles Build) (64-Bit)

Clear the Chrome cache (the three dots in the top-right corner of Chrome browser, > settings > clear browsing data > cached images and files). It worked for me.

I've been trying for 3 days to get into my lists to update my gps, but have had the same issue, a blank white screen.

I've tried Apple Mac, iPad, iphone, & a Windows Laptop, but with the same result every time.

Very frustrating.

I am also having this problem in Chrome on my Windows 10 desktop machine.  No maps will work, and I cannot display my lists.  These functions do work fine on my Chromebook, however.

Intalled / updated Firefox to use instead of Chrome and while loading the search-map I'm having the following things to be seen at bottom right:

TLS-Handshake mit tiles0x.geocaching.com wird durchgeführt...

TLS-Handshake mit tiles0x.geocaching.com abgeschlossen...

all the time.....with a very very slow build of the search map which finally resulted with an incomplete mp after a miute with a 1k internetline

So switching the browser to firefox will not bring the expected result finally....

This is what I see when I am trying to see the maps. I'm planning a trip soon and wanted to see what was in the area before I get there. Not seeing the map makes it hard. Any ideas on how to fix it?

See TheDeanBoys' post above.  The "Browse Map" (identifiable by a big "Search" button) might work better.

Note that there are two "sides" to the Browse Map: Google and "Leaflet" (a misnomer).  Open the left panel, Preferences, and try the other setting.  There's different code for each side, so one might work while the other doesn't.  (Best maps are on the Leaflet side, IMHO.)

Some phone caching apps are full-featured and offer similar functionality; there's another option.

PS, a note to the developers:  are your timeouts big enough for the non-local-city real world?  My electrons sometimes go around the planet once before reaching Groundspeak (I'm tinkering with the VPN), and I've been seeing that blowing-chunks message sporadically for months.  Taking "the long way" on a good VPN should add less than a second, and of course, some people are half a planet away whether they use a VPN or not.

I have tried using the map as I'd like to creat a list (on GC which is accessible from all my caching devices) but I cant get the map to work.

The search filters aren't working.

When I move the map that I do get the caches are not fixed. I can move them around Europe.

The link above for the browse map no longer works, although there is a browse map under play menu, but this does work for searches.

I usually use Opera, so I tried Edge and whilst the map appeared better, the search function wouldn't work - every time I selected something eg location, date it just reset to empty.

It's been going a while (years, I've avoided using the gc.com map, but the app doesn't allow date search, and cgeo doesn't upload to lists)

I've previously reset cookies but will try again

Anyone else have these issues, any idea of work around.. thanks

UPDATE never mind. It seems cgeo offers bookmark uploading so I don't need to use GC.com map at all

When I examine the main page for any cache, there is no list of cache logs at the bottom of the page, AND the map is blank. When I click on 'view larger map' I get:

"The web browser you are currently using doesn’t support WebGL, which is needed to view this map. To view a map experience that supports your browser, please use our Browse map."

Both of these experiences have occurred in the last month (say since 1-Apr-25).

I have also discovered today that I cannot hide a cache because the initial map page is blank.

I use Firefox as my browser and have never experienced any issues since I started 12 years ago.

HELP please

You're using FIrefox ... on the PC?  It's a current version?  I use FF on the PC too, and for me all's well.

Is your PC particularly old, say 10+ years?  A few years back I realized I had to ditch my 12yo PC and upgrade because technology moved on, software started needing WebGL, but my old hardware didn't cooperate.  You can test if your hardware (and browser) supports it here:  https://get.webgl.org/

Are you running a script blocker like NoScript?  If you are, you'll need to allow a few sites.  I'm running NoScript too, but if that was the problem, things would've broken for me as well.  Hmm...

Firefox is up to date; laptop is <6 mo; never hear of script blocker, but I do use an advertising blocker.

Script-blocker, ad-blocker, kinda the same thing...

Can you disable the ad-blocker for geocaching.com?  Does that fix it?  I'm guessing the ad-blocker sent an update which broke things.

If you can selectively block sites used by geocaching.com, I've found things work if I allow only:

geocaching.com cloudfare.com google.com gstatic.com code.jquery.com jsdeliver.net sentry.io

If you don't mind seeing ads ... on a paid account ... then ignore previous paragraph, which might still keep you ad-free on gc.com.

I'm using Privacy Badger. Unblocked for geocaching.com. No change to map or 'logged visits list'.

I use Privacy Badger as well, and it doesn't seem to interfere.

I'm running out of ideas.  Does your internet (or VPN?) provider offer some kind of ad-blocking that might be active?  (Bring it to the event tomorrow and try their WiFi.  Hands-on advice will cost you a beer.)

VPN offered but not used. Beer will be provided.

How about cookies? Have you accepted all cookies for geocaching.com. The site likes to pretend that it is possible to accept only essential cookies, or something like that. But it often breaks if you don't accept all cookies.

If you search the forums for "WebGL" you'll find a number of discussions on this, mostly quite old but maybe useful. The usual solution seems to revolve around enabling/disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox via the Settings/Performance menu.

You can test your WebgG compatibility here :  https://get.webgl.org/
