+Cardinal Red Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I think cache GCX7H1 is an illegal cache, because it it buried under a thin layer of stones. From the Cache Listing Requirements / Guidelines: Caches that are buried. If a shovel, trowel or other "pointy" object is used to dig, whether in order to hide or to find the cache, then it is not appropriate. Could this cache be described as COVERED by a thin layer of stones instead. I don't think this is a clear guideline violation. Quote
+firennice Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Unless you dug the hole to hide it under the stones. Quote
+Green Achers Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 I hate rock hides. However more times than not, there is a logical location that only one rock needs to be lifted. Observe carefully and then make your move. Quote

+simpjkee Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 (edited) I didn't find that particular cache, but I did find a cache a little bit away by the same owner, etc. That cache wasn't buried. No shovel or trowel was used to hide it or find it. IMO, "covered with a thin layer of rocks" is not buried. As firenice said, as long as you didn't dig a hole to bury it under the stones it's cool. +TheDudeJoe Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 I think all the rock pile caches that I can't find should be illegal. Quote
Tahosa and Sons Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 (edited) Did a cache maintanence hike to put some more rocks on top of one of my caches. Now is it too many rocks or too far of a hike. go look for it and let me know what you think I should do. Edited September 21, 2009 by Tahosa and Sons Quote
+ventura_kids Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Once I found a cache buried under a pointy bush....well...actually it was IN the pointy bush. But it should be illegal to do that too. Quote

I, for one, having read this post do not think this is illegal, Using your hands to uncover a cache is NOT illegal since your hands should NOT be pointy (if they are, I wouldn't want to shake hands with you!) +bafl01 Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 mad bomber knows the rules through and through and has helped archive caches for being burried with a tool before. no concern. You should probably get used to a thin layer of rocks Quote
+Knight2000 Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Illegal? Geocaching doesn't have laws. Quote
