I was looking for caches to find next weekend, and on my sidebar I see people modelling geocaching.com apparel.

Was there a geocaching.com model tryout? :P

Am I the only one who finds this funny? :D

Posted (edited)

Yeah, why hire some people when there are hundreds of cachers that might clean up good. :D (If they scrub real hard. :D )

I can see it now, go to cache GCXXXX and if your FTF you model the sweatshirt, STF, the T-shirt, and TTF, the ball cap. :P

How do you know they didn't? I really don't see the issue here. If they got from a specialized printing house, they model photographs may have been part of the package cost. Seems normal to me, and not at all odd or funny.

I understand your point. But without getting indepthand looking at past precedent. Geocaching.com hiring models is a funny idea.

Atleast to me. :P

hmmm!! Modeling cache clothing. It would be interesting to see who models the geocaching thong.

nyuck nyuck nyuck!

Probably not what you had in mind, was it?

Well it's getting closer!

I could be wrong, but I think those are mostly Groundspeak employees modeling the clothing.

There was an obscene image? There was nothing ‘showing’ in that image that would offend any member of the family. Given that the person in question was photographed in a public place engaged in a legal behavior, what was the problem again? Or is geocaching going to discriminate against the overweight?

Oh wait, maybe it was the whole homosexual parade thing. These are considered offensive and not ‘family friendly’ enough for the forums.

So let me see if I have this right, geocaching does not welcome

• Overweight

• Peculiar

• Gay

• Wigs

• Overweight peculiar gay people in wigs.

I resemble that remark. Am I being discriminated against and not know it?

I didn't find it offensive. Its just one of those pics that after you see it, you really wish you hadn't. It's hard to erase pics such as those from your mind. :) This comment

To me it seems both normal and funny at the same time, whereas the pic posted by Criminal is a different story......  :)
was only meant as a joke.(see :) ) It actually was funny. The fact that he/she had been riding a bicycle was a little disturbing though.... :(

I'll admit it was pretty dang funny, but I'm not surprised it got Quiggled nor am I sad to see it gone. It may be funny but it was also pretty twisted, and I don't want to see that every time I open this thread.

Plus this is a family site, and I think you'd be hard pressed to find a parent who wouldn't mind their kid seeing that. There is nothing really obscene, but you gotta' admit it's just gross.

This is off-topic, but I guess it shows Quiggle has arrived, now that his/her name has turned into a verb.

If there was nothing obscene, then why was the image deleted?

There are plenty of avatars far more disturbing than that. What if some unsupervised child saw the pic of the kid in the plastic bag? They could die trying to emulate him!

BTW, no explanation from Quiggster?

A pic of someone on a bike with their rear end hanging off doesn't exactly convey "integrity."

And after further research it DOES conform to the definition of obscene.

3. Offensive or repulsive to the senses; loathsome: “The way he writes about the disease that killed her is simply obscene” (Michael Korda).

The image should have not been deleted. It might have been gross to some; some may have found it to be in bad taste; and yet others just found it to be funny. It was not obscene. The picture did not include violence or pornography.

If we are going to start modding based upon what people find to be in bad taste, I am sure I can come up with a list of usernames, avatars and posts that meet the criteria.

BTW - If you don't want to see that image when you open this thread the next time, then don't open this thread again.

What if it was a skinny person on the bike, would everyone feel the same about it being posted? I'd bet it would still be removed.

This thread is about the models used for Shop Groundspeak merchandise. Please keep the discussion on topic. Off topic posts, including unrelated photos, tend to take the discussion onto tangents.

Are you saying I should repost the picture in a new thread titled: "Do you find this offensive?"

What I'd like to say is that the image was offensive to me and I don't want it or any others like it posted in these forums. I hope this is direct enough for you.

If you want some legaleze I'm afraid I don't have Esq. at the end of the name. However I do have magical moderation powers at my disposal if it becomes necessary.

Cheers,

Hear hear, and the topic is the modeling of geocaching and Groundspeak gear right? Thongs, much like spandex, should only be worn by those who can really wear it properly, and actually not draw attention to themselves.

So if you can wear geothongs, or dipthongs, or spandex, and not draw unecessary attention to yourself in doing so-please post your pics! :):(

Otherwise-please stick to t-shirts and sweatpants. :)

I have been modeling my Geocaching.com green hat in basically every photo of me that's ever been posted to a cache gallery. Yet, I've not seen a dime in modeling fees! :)

Recently I had the rather challenging task of delivering a geo-eulogy at the funeral of a well-known geocacher. :) After the service, several people came up to me and said "that's the first time we've ever seen you without your hat on!"

So I put it back on. :(

Many good ideas have come from these forums.

Ok, maybe not many, but some have.

Alright ALRIGHT, 1 or 2 ideas then....

An online modeling review wearing your logo'd gear would be kinda cool...wouldn't it?

But I cropped both pictures so they didn't show the thong!

Cropped and thong should not be used in the same sentence.

Indeed, and it appears that's just where this topic has morphed. :D:anibad:
