+GeoSar
Just wondering if anyone else wears camo when hunting in the forest, I wear Camo so that I don't get spoted around a cache, so the cache won't get muggled what's everyone opion on the subject Doug aka (GeoSar) Quote Link to comment
+Lazyboy & Mitey Mite
Camo works good so that animals won't spot you. Around these parts it's wise to wear orange in the woods so humans will spot you. No special clothes, just whatever fell on the floor I'll wear. Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
Someone wandering the woods in camo around here is likely to raise suspicions. I think I'm less likely to be noticed if I'm dressed normally. Quote Link to comment
+The Leprechauns
I am fairly well-known for wearing a combination of military olive drab and woodland camo as my "caching costume." It allows me to blend in with my surroundings, so that I can discreetly hunt for caches without being noticed or attracting attention. For example, see this photo from when I hunted a cache at a turnpike rest stop: Seriously, I prefer this clothing because it's comfortable and I feel like I "fit in" when in the woods. People who used to eye me suspiciously and ask what I was doing now think I am a forest ranger and ask me for directions! Or, they stay the heck away from me. I've never had a problem since I quit wearing "street clothes." In areas open to hunting, I of course spoil the camo look by wearing a bright orange vest. This second photo is a more normal representation of my appearance on a cache hunt: Quote Link to comment
+SixDogTeam
Camo's great if that's what floats your boat. Just remember to wear a Blaze orange hat during hunting season--even if you'er in a no-hunting area (poachers). Quote Link to comment
+PandyBat
Wearing blue or red around here in the woods in spring turkey season will get you shot too. Hunters see a spot of moving red or blue and think it's the head of a turkey and take a shot in that direction....not good. I personally want the animals (bears, cougars and the like) to know I am coming and also other people hiding in the woods with their meth labs and marijuana stashes. No sense is getting eaten by a startled bear or shot by a startled meth lab operator because I wanted to be stealthy in the woods. (Not that we have bears here but we do have plenty of meth labs and pot stashes. I think I would rather meet up with a bear than a meth lab operator.) Make some noise, let them know you are coming. CoyoteRed
I don't own any camo clothes. Most of the year I wear tan, khaki, or olive shorts. I like to wear earthtoned buttoned shirts, my favorite is a silk Hawaiian with a bamboo pattern. This doesn't stand out in urban setting and helps me blend in in the woods. Quote Link to comment
+Melrose Plant
It never really occurred to me. I just grab whatever's on top. Quote Link to comment
+writer
I dress like a waypoint - those seem hard enough to find most of the time... Quote Link to comment
BLUEFOOT
I always wear cammo of some nature when in the out of doors . It's the way that I was brought up , and it is none offensive to the surroundings. You'll see a lot more of nature if you fit in and don't stand out. The more you see the more you learn. Quote Link to comment
+Desert_Warrior
I dress in basic black out in the desert. But my hiking partner and Jeep driver Desert_Warrior wears camo. Parker the Texas chihuahua. Quote Link to comment
jfreeman_bsj
I like OD green cargo pants and a tee-shirt or light jacket usually of some natural shade, that way I blend in pretty well without looking like a militia member. Quote Link to comment
+SERG312
I usually have some sort of camo or olive drab on me while caching/hiking. I purchase alot of my supplies from army surplus stores because its cheaper than high priced namebrand items. I only wear my military clothing if I'm going on a very long adventure in a isolated area. It's comfortable, reliable, and puts me in outdoor survival mode. Other than that a nice pair of hiking pants usually does the trick though. My favorite piece of surplus is a OD tactical entry vest which I use all the time. It carries my platapus water blatter, and everything you could possibly need in the woods. Its better than a backpack because everything is accessible in a moments notice and it doesn't shift or sway even when running. Quote Link to comment
+hedberg
I'm naked while geocaching. No, not really... Not camo but trousers in military style.. A lot of pockets and comfortable... Quote Link to comment
+Alan2
Here in the northeast where ticks are a problem I wear light colored clothes so I can see them more easily crawling on me and remove them. Alan Quote Link to comment

+TEAM 360
Sometimes on longer desert hikes I will wear camo and hiking boots. Sure helps to keep the nettles out of your shoes, and I don't want to give away the cache location to anyone else who might be out there. Quote Link to comment

To add to PandyBat just remember "Red, White, and Blue" are colors not to wear in the woods. White can get you mistaken for the white tail of a deer. Another reason I like camo pants (genuine GI) is they are more durable than other types of clothing. Double layered knees and rear. Quote Link to comment
GT-5
Our team tends to wear street clothes as we cache, however we are considering changing our caching wear. Please post pics of you, or your team, in your uniform of the day for caching . Thanks GT-5 Quote Link to comment
mattmann&tylorboy
I like to wear OD Greens but the one thing I always wear is my MARPAT boonie. That thing is great at helping me hide in the brush when I got to duck out of sight quick. Quote Link to comment
+Brian - Team A.I.
I've been thinking quite a bit about picking up a full desert camo getup just to keep cool. Rugged BDUs, cotton shirt and hat and it's all good. Quote Link to comment

+djgray
I constantly wear BDU's no matter if I am caching or not. I personally like the durability, number of pockets, price, and feel of them. I can see why the military uses these types of clothing. I also have a pair of military boots that are completely waterproof. I will quite often blouse the pants and tuck them into the boots to try and keep ticks and bugs out. I also wear a matte black hat to provide some head protection to hope that ticks will not find their way into the hair. I also purchased waterproof camouflaged jacket and pants for rainy day caching. It was funny because I have gotten plenty of odd looks and actually was asked once or twice if I was an Army Ranger because of the gear I had. Thankfully, I have had no officials bother me. Walking around with a big smile and friendly personality helps quite a bit when dressed this way. Quote Link to comment
