njh Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 Would it be possible to add a link to streetmap.co.uk for caches located in the UK ? Would save me copying and pasting co-ordinates Would also be nice if you could select the co-ordinate format displayed in cache pages (if you are logged in). - I prefer Decimal Degrees, rather than degrees and decimal minutes. Cheers nick.
+Cave Troll and Eeyore Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 (edited) As a UK cacher (and premium member)I would also appreciate streetmap.co.uk maps Edited April 29, 2004 by Cave Troll & Joan
+The Scout Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 Streetmap.co.uk or Multimap both of which show Ordinance Survey maps would be preferable to any of the Map choices we now have for the UK on Geocache.com
+wigglesworth Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 It is really important to have a quick check on the OS maps when attempting a cache which incorporates footpaths - which is most of course. I get round this by cutting the OS coords from the cache description, truncating the accuracy and then paste into streetmap. An auto link would be highly appreciated! Peter
+DomHeknows Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 you get this functionality on geocacheuk.com but its not as up to date - ie recent caches won't appear on their site.
Leoness Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 Ditto! If I don't have the OS map for the area, I also cut and paste the co-ordinates from the cache page into Streetmap to have a good look at the OS map. I currently have Streetmap in my "favourites" but having it as a link on the cache page would be good too. I don't use any of the current selection available on the cache page as most of them don't seem to work for me anyway!!!
+MarcB Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 Ditto from me too. Did use http://stats.guk2.com/caches/flash_map.php But it's slowly going out of date MarcB
+Stuey Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 This really would be a great addition to the site. Compared to those other maps that were suggested, these are simply incredible (and up to date).
+yorkstan Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 Either Multimap or Streetmap would be a great addition. Save me some effort. Yorkstan
+Fangsy Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 Yeah that would be very good addition to each cache page! I'm often taking the co-ords from the cache page to streetmap to get a map including local roads and accesses. Pretty please? 9____________9
+milvus-milvus Posted April 30, 2004 Posted April 30, 2004 Me too! And how about changing that Micro$oft map in the top right to something more useful too? Micro$oft seem to have some funny ideas about the relative size of towns in the UK! Baz Milvus.
+Haggis Hunter Posted April 30, 2004 Posted April 30, 2004 Ordnance Survey is the most popular and most up to date and accurate map in the UK. So it gets my vote as well.
