  1. I'm going to be horrible and say that I guessed the 'how to' on that cache when some cachers I met in the field told me about it, got home and had the co-ords in 5 minutes. Yet to actualy go down there and find/log it though as it is a little outside my usual area
  2. I'm trying to update the descriptions on my hidden caches, I succeeded in doing so on one of them initialy but I keep getting some Error message page from the server or whatnot when I try update the others, it has been doing that for over 24 hours for me now. Anyone else having this too?
  3. I had the click-stick fault myself about a year ago, wouldn't click left unless I pressed it in then left, then it was fine again for a while. Also the screen was becoming garbled with weird patterns that flickered etc. The rubber seal was coming away too. It was less than 18 months old and the charged me over £50 to fix it too. Seems to be a roulette wheel on if you get charged to have it fixed or have a brand new one presented on silver platter.
  4. *slightly surprised but indignant glance* 9__9 *goes back to watching the show*
  5. I only found out about being able to rate UK caches recently and decided to back-rate all the ones I had found in the UK. As a side note, how do I find out if anyone has rated my hidden caches and how they were rated?
  6. Seems to be groovy again now, checked my account and it had been debited then got an email from Groundspeak today to say it's activated so yay. Thanks both.
  7. Hullos. I renewed my subscription to premium membership by credit/debit card 2 days ago however my account is still showing as basic. I know that unlike renewing by paypal the card payment can take a day to register but I am wondering how long I should wait till I start getting 'anxious' ? I would rather like to run pocket querries again soon but cannot till the upgrade goes through. Thanks
  8. So you can! *plays with like the geek he is* OK this is a good start, looking forward to hear if there are any other tips too Thank you.
  9. I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a method of exporting cache position and name etc to a file from GSAK that can then be imported into Google Earth to add a layer of user defined map-pins etc? Thanks
  10. Condoms. tsk! Harmless enough, but not convenient to explain to junior geocachers in training. I confiscate them
  11. It is true. Calling cards are from the planet lamin-8, golf balls are from lamin-10
  12. I think calling cards show a little extra character from the visitors. I've found that some are pretty cool. Personnaly I have small stickers with a design on that I created which I stick into the logbook and write the time and date on. Just add a little extra fun to reading logs of others I think.
  13. For a momment I was thinking, OMG, Elton John geocaches! But apparently #10 is Padmasana.. Sorry Padma!
  14. Thanks, I found the download with the speed camera locations in .csv format that he needs now, though it doesnt look like they have a download of the SmartST Desktop software itself which he will need to get somehow. TFYH!
  15. Hi folks. One of my neighbours has brought to me a Navman iCN510 because he heard I knew something about GPS and computers. His problem being that he doesn't seem to have a disk for installing any software to the computer with it. I've turned the unti on and the map comes on with my street and position and everything but apparently he is wanting to download and install a file that contains all the speed cameras as points of interest I assume and add them to the system. I've been on the navman-europ.com website and found a service pack download but cant see anywhere to download any other initial installation software. I think the service pack would obviously need an existing installation to do anything. Are there any convenient alternatives for what he wants to do? ie can this cameras poi file be downloaded and just stored on the SD card that comes with the navman unit? Any help and advice would be great, Thanks!
  16. I would have thought that yourself being the MORE dedicated cacher (read addicted) of the two that -you- would get the MAP60 and himself the cheaper 2nd GPS, after all, be a pitty if it were to get damaged 'on maneuvers' > The Gecko 301 does look like a very good 2nd unit, though personaly if I were going for a secondary I'd want something that had something particularly different about it from my current Venture, like the Fortrex which is wrist wearable. Regards!
  17. She does look happier in that one I must say....
  18. Looks like the enjoyment of caching increases exponentialy with the number of people in a team
  19. Very good explanation that. I've often found that even when my Garmin says it has an 'accuracy' of say 30 feet, when I am sitting on top of a cach the Distance to waypoint is often very low, under 4 feet, so even with a large apparent area of accuracy the GPS is pretty much spot on. you just wouln't rely on it in life or death situations
  20. Aside from items such as matches and lighters, which can have devestating effect even accidentaly in some locations, I have myself removed a contraceptive item from one cache I found (thankfuly still in it's wrap...) which I thought to be a bit unsuitable considering the age range of people who geocache. Obviously not as dangerous as lighters etc, but still got confiscated.... and remains confiscated....
  21. I had a thought (oh yeah it happens sometimes) about how it could be possible to connect a small block/adapter to the data pin-outs on Garmin eTrex or any other GPSr with data ports that would transmit the NMEA or whatever data over bluetooth link to laptop or PDA or similar devices. Did a quick search on google and found these BT adapters for sale in a US store that do exactly that only with a larger battery case and cable. Have had a look for similar items in UK stores but have not been as lucky with results yet. Anyone know or reccommend anything along these lines? Main aim is to make my Venture Bluetoothy, and this also appeals to my geekness too. Thanks.
  22. Wow thats amazing in just a year, very well done!
  23. Sounds neat, thanks for that. Will give the GSAK -> HTML a go on mine also.
