  1. You can grab it from the current holder, but I suggest you leave it a few days in case he/she is a bit slow in logging it. Have they logged their visit to the cache on GC.com?
  2. I must say that I think Skype is great. I have called all over the world using it, and it is saving me a fortune. On a recent global trip, I was ringing our home number using it for just over 1P a minute. It was worth paying a bit extra in hotels to get broadband, as the saving on phone calls was enormous. Highly recommended. Edited for spelling errorrrrrr!
  3. Sounds like you all need to switch to Magellan. My SporTrak Pro has both. WGS 84 as primary and British OS as the secondary coordinates. I just turn to the main screen and both sets are there for all to see.
  4. A few weeks ago I was in a taxi in Shanghai, which had a notice of the conditions of carriage in both Chinese and English. Item 2 says: "Passengers are not allowed to carry with them contraband goods, smoke, spit or to dump inside taxis. Psychos or drunkards without guardians are prohibited to take taxis." I do have a photo, but it is not clear enough to post, I am afraid.
  5. If it is any comfort, International Dialling is a seven cache multi. My first cache went missing before it was even submitted. Since then two more have been muggled, and the final stage was washed away in the storms a few weeks ago. To add to that, the footpath to another one of the caches is presently shut for maintenance, and it looks like they are dramatically cutting back the copse the cache is located in. Just hope it is still there when they finish. You just have to smile and carry on.
  6. Forgot all about this, so many thanks for the video capture, Cryptic Souls Crew. Great diary. Well done!
  7. The land in the National Parks is virtually all owned by private landowners (although there may be a right to roam). You need to approach these, or their tenants, to obtain permission to place caches.
  8. Many congratulations to Weavey on reaching the 200 mark today at the International Dialling cache. Unfortunately I had to go out and replace the cache since it had floated off in the recent rains, just so he could reach this milestone. Well done.
  9. When I met Seasider at the NW Cache event at the weekend, he said he would take it slowly up to 1600, and then go all out for the 2000. Not bad for a "retired cacher" Well done!
  10. Looks like Morecambe Bay to me, on a misty morning. You sure their navigation was accurate?
  11. Brilliant news - great decision!! I will still buy you both a pint if you get up North
  12. Just a thought - but wasn't the main issue here, the moderation of the forums rather than the approving of caches? Why can't L&E carry on with cache approval and just stop being forum moderators? Do these two roles have to go together? From the other posts I certainly think that the majority of UK cachers would prefer that to losing them altogether.
  13. Just thought I would check the forums after work and I find this terrible news. I echo all the sentiments already made - a very sad day for UK geocaching. Hopefully now you will both have lots more time for caching though, and maybe I get you a real pint in the future. (There has to be a silver lining somewhere)
  14. A problem that I had in the early days of doing this was not giving the map a new, unique name. Unless I did that, it would not transfer. My process now is to follow 1100f's routine, but to be sure to give a new map name. After the Hot Sync, I delete it from Fugawi, or it resends every time. Also look in Forms/PDA Library (this is where I delete the map). Under Options I have "Copy to Palm" under the Hot Sync method.
  15. Blimey - I didn't realise he was serious!! Hopefully it is in his blood, and he will not be able to resist caching again when the days get longer.
  16. There is also this. Just type in the post code and you will get the nearest caches.
  17. Can I come???? Please?? It's my birthday next week also. Sagitarius
  18. Obviously time to head North again - or perhaps try this
  19. HH checks the goods before negotiating the sale of his wife.
  20. I use my postcode - seems to work just as well
  21. I think that they may be different offers. I get the impression from the log that the Aldi offer includes navigation software, while the global positioning systems offer does not. Or is this just my read on it?
  22. It is always possible that it could have been stumbled on by accident, as it was only about 5 metres from a well walked path. But it was up a bank and hidden beneath a rock, so it would not have been that easy to find.
