MoonHerb
I haven't done many caches yet (40ish), but, I've found that the decryption of the clues is becoming almost second nature ! Certain words like 'cache' hidden' 'in' 'at' e.t.c. I can just read without looking at the key ! Does anyone else seem to have this ability ?? Quote Link to comment

Naefearjustbeer
Not a hope I always decrypt the clue at home and save the page to my pda before setting out. I dont actually read it until I need too though so sometimes I use them other times I dont have too Quote Link to comment
thirtyfootscrew
You're not alone in that one, I mostly use an ebook reader on my mobile to read the notes and (already decrypted) hints from the .prc file but at the beginning I used to take printouts and decrypt in the field. I too could read some words without using the key such as 'tree stump', 'hollow', 'hidden', etc. Quote Link to comment
Lizzzzeeeee
All the kids I try with ROT13 encryption seem to love it and are really quick to catch on. We use it a lot at Cubs for treasure hunts etc and the kids always beat the leaders!!! Quote Link to comment
wildtrekker
I only ever decrypt in the field and only if I really need to. Of the 100 caches I've done, only needed to about a dozen times, so I know a few like cache or The, but I do find that I guess words quicker so only have to decrypt a couple of letters to get the word. sidewallwolf
We generally decrypt before we set out, but, they are not always useful... Quote Link to comment
spioradsaor
Yup it is becoming quite scary. Murrin is even better and can read books back to you encrypted Only ever decrypt out on the hill / hunt etc ...Which ultimately leads to the paper getting all wet and falling to bits Quote Link to comment
The Hole-in-the-wall Gang
After we had found a few caches I used to print out the decrypted cache sheet and kid myself that I wouldn't sneak a peek at the clue. I have since learnt that curiosity usually gets the better of me and I now always wait and decrypt in the field if necessary. That way, it makes me more likely to try and find it without the clue which is more fun ( sometimes ) Quote Link to comment

Fangsy
I've found that the decryption of the clues is becoming almost second nature ! You were probably Welsh in a past life. I'm Welsh in -this- life... but I still struggle to decrypt some of the clues without a pencil Certain words are already known, so I can get a jist of what it's on about, but I try not to need to decode unless I'm stumped. +The Wobbly Club
Yes we can read Geo as well. Although we rarely use the clues now. Colin & Daphne Quote Link to comment
Volvo Man
I just get Cache mate to do it too, If I don't use the clue, I always read it before I re-hide to make sure the cache is in the corrcet place. And I cacn't count the number of times I've said to myself "That'll do, I'll read the clue now", and spotted the cache while waiting for cache mate to sort the waypoints. Quote Link to comment
