The_Brownies Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 I've been on some tough caches lately, and I must say, they had me scratching my head for a while. But I was able to find all of them. Tell me what has been your hardest find? Give a link back to the cache site if possible. Quote
+sbukosky Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 This oneHas baffled many cachers. After I found it, I took a friend there. After he gave up looking for it, I pointed to it and he still had trouble determining it to be a cache, even though it was clear out in the open. Don't want to give it away but it remains a good one! +evergreenhiker! Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 Well, my first DNF was this one: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=15186 It took me more than a few tries over several months to find this baby! I literally bushwacked the woods and never did find the first waypoint. Basically, I didn't give up until I searched every INCH of the dadgum park. In fact, the cache owner has changed/added nicer hints now so others don't go through what some of us did. By far this was the toughest for me. It felt good to get it off my back...my 60th find at the time. A couple of Yakima area caches gave me a real hard time: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=19845 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=21172 Sometimes a cache that should be EASY gives me fits like this one: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=21172 One of Dr. Koska's EVIL CACHES: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=43664 Last but not least: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=14370 There are other DNFs but those above gave me teh most trouble. Great news is that I eventually got them all off my back. Quote

+Prime Suspect Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 No contest for me. That would be Clinton's wife and Finis' too, back when it was a physical cache (though it can't be any easier as a virtual). Quote

+Marky Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 This was one of the hardest ones around here. It took us many trips back. Sometimes it was rather scary because of all the predator activity in the area. --Marky "All of us get lost in the darkness, dreamers learn to steer with a backlit GPSr" Quote
3fros Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=25123 This one's in the Everett, WA area. It kicked my behind for a while, but I finally finished it. It seems to take an average of about 5 different trips to finish it, if at all. Quote
azog Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 How about the hardest cache we HAVEN'T found? Alluvial Material in NJ seems to have a bit of historical notoriety assoicated with it - it was so hard to find, some people didn't believe it even existed. ---------- Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be also be like him. Anyway, my hardest find of a regular cache is probably Take a Walk in the High Land. This one had a twist to it, followed by some unusual terrain, compounded by a few inches of snow; this is one of my favorite finds. Part 1 of this puzzle cache in the same series was hidden in an evil manner that I was proud to uncover; I haven't finished the rest. Mein Vater war ein Wandersmann, und ich hab' auch im Blut Quote

We didn't actually find it, but we want it off our unfound list. The virtual puzzle is just too cryptic, in spite of Scout's friendly help. Aww, come on! That's cheating!
