Didn't know the pop= parameter could do that. Quote
+2Abendsegler Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 "pop" is not a regular parameter and it is not a regular feature of the Browse Map. @jri had done magic here. If you observe it closely, the first display of the Browse Map will be cancelled and a new display will start immediately. This is required for GME to display the waypoints. This feature stopped working around 2019 when the map links from listing were changed to the Search Map. If the script GClh is in use and the "View Larger Map" link has been switched to the Browse Map, then the waypoints are also integrated by GME for this link. So both scripts complement each other. That's called international script collaboration. 🤭 1 Quote
+2Abendsegler Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 (edited) The new version v0.8.2.2As.6 for the script Geocaching Map Enhancements is available here. It also comes with an automatic update. Fix further issues with the asynchronous or delayed loading of the minimap. Fix missing login check. If individual GME features do not work or do not always work as expected, help is probably available here. Special thanks to @Sechsfüssler for the excellent support in testing and finding a solution. +MartyBartfast Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 Just wanted to say a big thank you to @2Abendsegler for picking up maintenance on this script. It's been my goto option for mapping for many years, and not just for geocaching. While I've never had any major problems with it I always dreaded the day when it might stop working as JRI had backed off from maintaining it, but it's really good to see someone's keeping it alive. 2 Quote

+Flying-Kiwi Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 Very strange. The new version GME worked fine untill it didn't. As well as not showing any GME features, if the script is enabled the "Add to List" button doesn't work. All the other buttons do, just not that one. If I disable the script in Tampermonkey, the "Add to List" button works fine again. I'm using chrome and GME version 0.8.2.2As.6. Let me know if I can provide any extra info. Quote
+simplysup Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Recently - or at least I think so, I don't recall it happening before - when I click on a disabled cache on the Browse geocaches map, no details are shown. This is using both Edge and Firefox, and GME version 0.8.2.2.As.6. Is this an issue with just me, or others? Nigel Quote
+2Abendsegler Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 This is a bug on the website. If you deactivate the GME script the bug is also available. Here the bug report in the forum. 1 Quote
+2Abendsegler Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 (edited) The new version 0.8.2.2As.7 for the script Geocaching Map Enhancements is available here. It also comes with an automatic update. New: [Browse Map] Copy coordinates from the Route Tool popup via mouse click to the clipboard. In order to copy the coordinates on the Route Tool popup into the clipboard, you previously had to mark the coordinates with the mouse and, for example, copy them into the clipboard using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+c. Now you can simply copy the coordinates into the clipboard by clicking on the new icon. New: [Browse Map] Specify number of decimals for the measured distance of the route. With this feature you can set the number of decimals that are displayed for the measured distance of the Route Tool route. By default, for distances of one kilometer or more, one decimal is displayed and for distances of ten kilometers or more, no decimals are displayed, as was the case before these adjustments. What's new is the ability to always display a certain number of decimals from one kilometer onwards, regardless of the distance. This means that even over long distances, smaller changes to the route become visible. For example, three decimal places can always be displayed: There is a new parameter: Fix: [Browse Map] Right mouse on cache detail popup set route tool marker. Change: [Cache Listing] Feature "Check distance from here" disabled due to bug. If individual GME features do not work or do not always work as expected, help is probably available here. +mellers Posted April 28, 2024 Posted April 28, 2024 I have noticed a problem today with the GME route tool when it is set to 'Imperial' measurements. When I mark a route out using the pins, it shows a distance considerably less than the actual measured distance (when compared, say to the path ruler tool on Google Earth. Using a bit of trial and error, I have managed to work out what it's doing. It thinks it is showing the distance as feet by the appendix ft in the box, but the actual distance number is measured in metres. See attached photo for example where I have dropped a 0.1 mile (161 metres) marker around a cache and subsequently measured the radius of that marker with the route tool It shows 161 ft - rather than the 529 ft it should be. It has taken the 161 from the metric measurement and popped 'ft' at the end. Any chance of a fix? 1 Quote
+2Abendsegler Posted April 28, 2024 Posted April 28, 2024 Thanks @mellers, you are right. Thank you for the great bug report. I have opened an issue. A corrected version is expected to be available this evening. Only the ft are affected by the bug. The miles are displayed correctly. Sorry, I was really careless when developing the decimal places for the Imperial measurements. Quote

+PlasmaWave Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 (edited) GME with GB Ordinance Survey Maps added (I am UK based) - the OS maps work perfectly on my main desktop PC and laptop (both Windows 10) using Edge/Chrome/Firefox browsers ... I have the super 0.8.2.2As.8 and old 0.9.0 scripts in TM, but only the 0.8.2.2As.8 version is enabled. Recently had to replace the C:drive in my 'spare' Windows 10 desktop but can't get the GME OS Maps to display in Edge/Chrome/Firefox browsers, that all work ok on my other computers. Went through the normal procedure via Manage Maps and added the string including my Bing code (which works on the other two computers) - OS Maps then show in the map list and was saved. When viewing the geocaching map, GME icons are displayed bottom left and function normally ... OS appears in the map pop-up menu top-right and selects ok, but the OS map itself doesn't display at any zoom level. I have tried removing and re-adding the OS, even tried a different Bing code within the 'add' string, but when selected the OS map still fails to display. Other maps in the list display as normal. I really do not know what else to try - situation feels like some setting in the second PC is preventing the OS maps displaying ... anyone seen this before? Any suggestions what I can try? Thanks for any help offered. Edited November 19, 2024 by PlasmaWave Quote
+2Abendsegler Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Unfortunately, I don't understand exactly what it's about. This may have something to do with the fact that I haven't integrated any additional maps via "Manage Maps". Could you perhaps specify the string for the map you are using so that I can try it out? Quote
+PlasmaWave Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Thanks for replying ... the map being added is UK "Ordinance Survey" (curtesy of Bing) - I have been using it on another Windows 10 desktop and a HP laptop for years. Always worked perfectly (still does on the two existing PCs) but a new (to me) Dell Inspiron Windows 10 shows the normal menu bottom left and map list top right, but when OS is selected no map appears. Here is the string for adding the OS mapping - just need to repalce the "xxxxxxxxxx" with your own Bing key, which are free. JSON string as follows (replace xxxxx's with your Bing key): {"alt":"Ordnance Survey","tileUrl":"https://t{s}.ssl.ak.tiles.virtualearth.net/tiles/r{q}.png?g=3440&productSet=mmOS&key=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx", "subdomains": "0123", "minZoom":10, "maxZoom": 17, "attribution":"Ordnance Survey imagery from <a href='https://www.bing.com/maps/'>Bing Maps</a>", "name":"osbing"} ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ UK OS Maps In order to use the online UK OS Maps you will need to obtain a Bing Maps API key. However, if you are already running Geocaching Maps Enhancements you will already have one and you can use this same key. If you are running GME: Open a normal Geocaching.com map on your browser and ensure you have selected Leaflet from Set Map Preferences Click on the right hand of the 5 little squares, bottom left of the map. There is no icon but hovering will display “Configure GME” Select Manage Maps Click Export Custom Maps Towards the bottom of the code you will find "OS&key=“ Copy the following text up to the double quotes (“) and that is your API key. If you are not running GME you will need to create a new Bing Maps API key. You will need to have a Bing Map API Account and you can sign up for one at bingmapsportal.com Once created log in to the account and select My Account and My Keys If you already have a key it will show here - you do not need a new key for Cachly If you need a key click to create a new one Enter Application Name as Cachly; Key Type as Basic; Application Type as Public Website and click Create You may be able to use Copy Key to copy the key, but not all browsers allow this, if not click Show Key and copy the text manually Send the key to your phone Quote
+PlasmaWave Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 Managed to get the GME UK Ordinance Survey maps to display in all five browsers tested, but do not know why. I removed and re-added OS Maps several times using a couple of different Bing Keys and suddenly they displayed ok - however, when I compared the 'working' string against that originally used, they were identical. Very pleased but would have preferred to know why. Quote
+PlasmaWave Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 Hi 2Abendsegler https://www.bingmapsportal.com/ Does GME source it's OS UK mapping from Microsoft/Bing? This MS/Bing announcement states that Bing Enterprises will cease operation as they move these services over to Azure, effective in 2025 for free accounts and 2028 for what I assume are commercial paid-for accounts. For UK users of GME the prospect of losing access to OS UK maps will be of great concern, so I wondered if this change to Bing Enterprises will affect the GME option to use OS UK maps. Quote
Jurik.V & spol. Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 Hello, could you make GME work also on this map https://www.geocaching.com/live/play/map I thought that it doesn't work after installing, but it seems to only work on the old maps https://www.geocaching.com/map/ . Is it possible to get it working also on the new map (when you navigate (in the top bar/menu) to Play - VIew map)? Quote

Yes, GME does use Bing for OS maps. Unfortunately Azure will not have OS maps so, as far as I can see, the only option is to get them directly from the OS API. I've had a look at this, and unless anyone knows a way of using British National Grid in GME, we are out of luck as the 1:25,000 and 1:50,000 are not available in web mercator. +2Abendsegler Posted January 4 Posted January 4 @PlasmaWave I've already looked into the topic a bit. At the moment I'm assuming that these maps will no longer be usable once the service is discontinued on June 30, 2025 or June 30, 2028. Unfortunately, I have no idea how something similar could be implemented in GME without a lot of effort. Quote

Unfortunately, the search map is not comparable to the browse map. The structure and internal processing is completely different and much more complex. It would certainly be the case that no existing feature could be integrated into the search map without huge adjustments. The effort would probably be about as high as it was originally for the browse map, although we already have the features in the browse map. Particularly because the search map is much more complex and it is much more time-consuming to expand it. I have already had corresponding experience with developments in both maps with the GClh script. In addition, the additional benefit of such an extension to the search map would be manageable in my view. Quote
