hautecouture Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 I have heard of a cache which consists of a pipe (in the water) with holes in it that have to be plugged so that the logbook can be retrieved from it. Im really intregued by this and I wonder if anyone knows where it is.....(I don't know if there is more than one out there or not.) Any help would be appreciated, Thanks Quote
+Sleepynow01 Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 (edited) You could try the following cache GC1B6Q6. Not quite the same but similar principle. Edited August 27, 2010 by Sleepynow01 Quote
+Graculus Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 There are a few like this (off the top of my head I can't recall any... to many caches... ahgghh!!)] Sorry.. I'm told though they are quite easy to do if you are an accomplished flautist... +milvus-milvus Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 (edited) Try searching for H2O (http://coord.info/GC1196Q) by Messe, and the tribute "Messe-ing about in the water" (http://coord.info/GC15GRM) - both of which may or may not involve something similar to what you describe... Oxfordshire (I think) and Northants. Edited August 27, 2010 by milvus-milvus Quote
+Boggin's Dad Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 I have done a couple along these principles: GCWBXQ HEP (Hydro Ejective Power) Cache GC1M8C5 Underground Trains In Somerset Both of these are in Somerset. I may set one in Oxfordshire in the not too distant future. Well worth a visit if you in the area Quote
+sniffadogz Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Also in Somerset: You've Found It, Now What? GCWBXM Quote
+Stuey Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 GCWBXQ HEP (Hydro Ejective Power) Cache GC1M8C5 Underground Trains In Somerset You've Found It, Now What? GCWBXM Thanks both of you.... saves me looking them all up before recommending them. I enjoyed these ones. Quote
+keehotee Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 I don't recall Underground Trains In Somerset being a water pipe type cache - it was just a tube fixed to a fence. The bottom unscrews, I seem to remember.... I, however, do have one as a stage of one of my caches. But I'm not telling you which one Quote
+Coppers Lot Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 I recommend the one mentioned by Milvus-Milvus above.... one of my most enjoyable finds I think. Quote
+Boggin's Dad Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 I don't recall Underground Trains In Somerset being a water pipe type cache - it was just a tube fixed to a fence. The bottom unscrews, I seem to remember.... I did not try to unscrew it - Having done the water technique on the two others like this in Somerset I used it here, probably helped having 5 litres of water in the back of the car. Seemed a sensible way at the time. More than one way to skin a cat Quote
+Dorsetgal & GeoDog Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 In Dorset try "Water Torture" and Chinese Take Away" by Octopus & Bear (who incidentally, always set really good caches) Quote

More than one way to skin a cat It was just a tube with a log rolled up in the bottom when I found it - filling it with water would've given me a water filled tube, and a very, very soggy log Quote
+JeremyR Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 I have no intention of disclosing exactly which cache it is but there's one in the Winter Hill area of Lancashire that matches the OP's description... Quote

+The_Street_Searchers Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 http://coord.info/GC1VA4H There is one on the Devils Dyke Circular just north of Brighton...A truely fantastic series IMHO Quote
+teamhillside Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Not done it yet, but I suspect this one is a similar process:- http://coord.info/GCY7X9 - 650,000 gallons and 2 litres Matt Quote
+B.B.B. Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Try VICTIM OF MISPLACED DISPLACEMENT GC241JW It's one of mine and has been a fun cache for me as all I do is laugh at the logs while others get wet. Quote
