+drsolly Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Today, I picked up a camo bag containing a cache, and a mouse popped out and scurried away. When I opened the bag, it was full of dried leaves (and the clip-lock box underneath those). The mouse will have to look for a new home - his leaves are on the ground now and the bag is tied up more tightly. But I'm sure he'll find somewhere good. Quote
+Moote Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 I personally hate any kind of bag around a cache, the ones with some kind of waterproofing actually start to stink after only a few months, the plain fabric ones just start to rot. A thought here under Schedule 2 (European protected species of animals) of the Conservation (Natural Habitats &c.) Regulations 1994, and Statutory Instrument 2008 No.2172 The Conservation (Natural Habitats, &c.) (Amendment) (England and Wales) Regulations 2008. if the mouse was a dormouse, you would have committed a criminal offence by destroying it's habitat; So another very good reason to scrap the use of these bags. +Bear and Ragged Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 (edited) snipped. if the mouse was a dormouse, you would have committed a criminal offence by destroying it's habitat A doremouse's natural habitat is not a camo bag! But point noted. Edited December 1, 2009 by Bear and Ragged Quote

I think the little furry critter found my computer desk last night, at around 04:00!! The bugger woke me up when he was nibbling the corner off a bar of white lemon and pepper chocolate I was saving.... He scuttled off and hid as soon as the light was on.. The traps are baited, set and waiting!!!! Quote

It's probably watching Delia's Christmas TV programme just now... MrsB Quote

+CanUK_TeamFitz Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 If you ask me, the recent introduction of mice to caching is ruining the sport for those who have been enjoying hamster-caching for many years. Quote
+JeremyR Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 the last time i encountered a mouse it jumped up my trouser leg The last time I encountered a mouse was only a couple of weeks ago - when I saved the poor little blighter from the claws of my cat Quote
+gazooks Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 The one and only time I encountered a mouse while caching was a few months ago. I was looking for a micro in a line of trees (groan) and there was a dead branch lying against the 'Y' two branches. I moved it and saw a little hole with vegetation stuffed in it. Aha ! I thought and stuck my fingers in - only for a poor mouse to jump out and scamper off. Gave me a hell of a fright I replaced everything as it was in the hope the mouse might return after I had gone. The micro was in the next tree Quote

It was the Tesco's value white chocolate and peanut butter that finally helped the furry little chocolate thief shuffle off this mortal coil... He is now deceased, gone to meet his maker and join the choir invisible. He is an Ex-mouse!!! Quote

+currykev Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 That truly wonderful photo of "cache v mouse" has probably done more for Geocaching amongst my "muggle" friends than any amount of explaining I have tried over the years. THANKS. Quote
