Colorado Returns?

I love my Colorado but to date I have had to return it twice for repairs. First time my power switch crapped out. Had to press the button multiple times to turn on or off. Just recently had to return again due to the thumbwheel sticking after caching out in the rain. Major pain having to send it back and forth but have to say I am pleased with the speed and response by Garmin.

Anyone else having to send their unit back and forth?

This should be an interesting thread to see where the weak spots are with buttons, thumbwheels, etc. Please everyone, let's not start on about water leaks as it's been beaten to death.

I am returning mine for the first time this week as the battery connector broke. I use the GPS everyday and change batteries every morning.

I was an early adopter and bought the GPS within a month of it coming out.

BTW, you can remove the thumbwheel easily and clean it out when it sticks.

Once. I was an early adopter getting mine within the first weeks of release, and the clock did not keep time which effected many functions. Garmin sent a new unit right away with a much higher serial number and I've never had a problem since.

Three....then I demanded Garmin exchange it for an Oregon. They did and I have been happy ever since.

All three units leaked. The final unit died after the batteries ran out. It came up "System Software Missing" and it was a brick.

Thanks for the tip about removing and cleaning the thumbweel.

Does anyone have any advice on how to remove the wheel? Do I just pry or pull it off?

I suppose I could just try myself but I don't want to break anything! :P

Thanks,

Marcus

Purchased Colorado 300 in May.

Mid July June returned for USB port on top loose.

Received refurbished unit quickly. First unit had 1 GB RAM, this one only 500MB RAM. (Yes I know they are suposed to only have 500MB. Garmin told me they had different suppliers)

This unit locks up constantly, every 5-15 minutes. Geting ready to ship this one back.
