daveandbecky
So my local target has the big dollar section. When I went in there yesterday, I found some fun summer items out (I'm in Arizona so mine may be out early). A first aid kit for 1 dollar in a zip case. Now it's not going to help you perform surgery, but it had basic first aid stuff in it. 1$ A splinter kit - worth it for the tweezers and extra bandaids. 1$ A safety whistle - would hold waterproof matches, has a compass (yeah, I know) a mirror etc on a lanyard. Water proof match holder would be great for two batteries. 1$ A thermal blanket - you know, the shiny one's that keep you warm. 1$ A 1 dollar flashlight with batteries 1$ A telescopic marshmellow roaster. I picked this one up and its going to be my cache poker when I hike. Eitehr way, I thought it would either be a good way to supplement a day pack for caching or make good swag. Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
I saw those first aid kits at Target and snapped up a dozen. Wish I grabbed them all. Good swag. I actually augmented them a bit by adding some more Band Aids and individual packets of Advil. Quote Link to comment
TermiteHunter
Even better, when the stock changes with the seasons, this stuff goes on sale for usually 75% off. More swag for your bag. Quote Link to comment
+NeoAddict
I filled up on the first aid kits that come in the sturdy plastic boxes. I also got packs of tissues- 4 in a pack for a buck. Can't go wrong there. Quote Link to comment
+SassyGingerNinja
Ooooooo - a telescopic marshmallow roaster - that sounds cool! We checked out our Target bins the other day and didn't see anything like that. I've had really good luck at our local Staples office supply store. I got Masterlock combination locking carabiners for 50 cents as well as 4-piece full size tool kits for 50 cents each. I bought all they had. Quote Link to comment

continental drifter
The "One spot"area at Target is great I filled a whole cache with things from there.Pretty much any dollar store has decent trade items. My personal favorite is Dollar Tree. Quote Link to comment
+DrgnTrappr
I have Found that flea markets can be great places to find quality swag for cheap. You almost allways see a flea market while out caching, and who knows you might find something you need too. Quote Link to comment
+MarshMonsters
Our Target still has the gardening supplies. I did snag some Off and grippy garden gloves. The gloves will be handy for yucky caches. I never thought about using the roaster fork for poking around in hiding areas. Back in the seasonal toy area there are .99-$1.99 Summer toys. Those are nice too. Quote Link to comment
+theniffs
what area did you find the telescoping roasting sticks? Quote Link to comment
+ubermutant
If they are the first-aid kits I'm thinking about, then you could turn them into micros once you've extinguished the contents. I have a couple by Johnson & Johnson. You can supplement them w/ Advil, floss, etc like the above poster said. Quote Link to comment
+OpenTrackRacer
I haven't had a chance to check out Target lately but I looked at Wal-Mart today and there was nothing special. However, there was a Dollar Tree next door and I picked up some tape measures, multi-bit drivers and flat umbrellas which should make good swag. Gotta love it! Quote Link to comment
