Arrow One Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 This is one I wrote a long time ago for a little dog that had a huge impact on my life.... Two different lives coming together. Somehow we meet from worlds apart. The time was right for us to find each other. You and I are different, With a bond that grows every day. The warmth together, the soft feel of your fur. You make a bad day good, And a rainy day sunny. You take away any sadness with your big brown eyes. This is what true love is. Unconditional love. No matter the weather, how messy the bedroom is, What wer'e having for dinner, or what time I get home. There is love... The truest love of all. To my "Little Maggie" Birthdate unknown - Passed 3/4/2000 A1 Quote
LadyBee4T Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 I found this one on the web and it made me laugh so here it is Hindsight I said to you, "Oh, please be mine; Be mine forever, Valentine." I must have seemed like quite a fool, Although I thought I was being cool. I swore that we would never part, As I put my hand upon my heart. Had I been thinking with my head, I'd probably have fled instead. By Joanna Fuchs Quote
LadyBee4T Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Here is a classic Sonnets from the Portuguese - 43 a poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love thee to the depth and breadth and height My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight For the ends of Being and ideal Grace. I love thee to the level of everyday's Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight. I love thee freely, as men strive for Right; I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise. I love thee with the passion put to use In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith. I love thee with a love I seemed to lose With my lost saints I love thee with the breath, Smiles, tears, of all my life! and, if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death. Quote
fairyhoney Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 This is part of a song by COLDPLAY. It's my sad song for remembering my MOM : Coldplay - " The Scientist " Come up to meet you, Tell you I'm sorry, You don't know how lovely you are. I had to find you, Tell you I need you, Tell you I set you apart. Tell me your secrets, And ask me your questions, Oh let's go back to the start. Runnin' in circles, Comin' up tails, Heads on the science apart. Nobody said it was easy, It's such a shame for us to part. Nobody said it was easy, No one ever said it would be so hard. Oh take me back to the start. Quote

fairyhoney Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 this classic will always be true: Your Song Lyrics by Bernie Taupin It's a little bit funny this feeling inside I'm not one of those who can easily hide I don't have much money but boy if I did I'd buy a big house where we both could live If I was a sculptor, but then again, no Or a man who makes potions in a travelling show I know it's not much but it's the best I can do My gift is my song and this one's for you And you can tell everybody this is your song It may be quite simple but now that it's done I hope you don't mind I hope you don't mind that I put down in words How wonderful life is while you're in the world I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss Well a few of the verses well they've got me quite cross But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song It's for people like you that keep it turned on So excuse me forgetting but these things I do You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue Anyway the thing is what I really mean Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen Quote
fairyhoney Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Here is a thought.... If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?? So true How about : If love stinks, perhaps that's why perfume is also popular at Valentines day Quote

surteb Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Thanks for the cointest! This classic one just can't be left out: Sonnet 18 - William Shakespeare Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate. Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, And summer's lease hath all too short a date. Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, And often is his gold complexion dimmed; And every fair from fair sometime declines, By chance, or nature's changing course untrimmed. But thy eternal summer shall not fade Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st; Nor shall death brag thou wand'rest in his shade, When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st, So long as men can breathe or eyes can see, So long lives this, and this gives life to thee. Quote
mousekakat Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 If we're going to go with classics.... 1 Corinthians 13 (New International Version) New International Version (NIV) Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society 1 Corinthians 13 Love 1If I speak in the tongues[a] of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. 4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. 13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. Quote

fairyhoney Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 THERE IS LOVE (Paul Stookey) - Wedding Song - He is now to be among you at the calling of your hearts. Rest assured this troubador is acting on His part. The union of your spirits here has caused Him to remain, for whenever two or more of you are gathered in His name, There is love. There is love. Oh, a man shall leave his mother, and a woman leave her home. They will travel on to where the two will be as one. As it was in the beginning, is now until the end, woman draws her life from man and gives it back again and there is love. Oh, there's love. Well then what's to be the reason for becoming man and wife? Is it love that brings you here or love that brings you life? For is loving is the answer then who's the giving for? Do you believe in something that you've never seen before? Oh, there's love. There is love. He is now to be among you at the calling of your hearts. Rest assured this troubador is acting on His part. +GATOULIS Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Well, I believe that one of the most beautiful poems for love is: O, my love is like a red, red rose, That is newly sprung in June. O, my love is like the melody, That is sweetly played in tune. As fair are you, my lovely lass, So deep in love am I, And I will love you still, my Dear, Till all the seas go dry. Till all the seas go dry, my Dear, And the rocks melt with the sun! O I will love you still, my Dear, While the sands of life shall run. And fare you well, my only Love, And fare you well a while! And I will come again, my Love, Although it were ten thousand mile! Quote
GATOULIS Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I forgot to mention the poet! He was Robert Burns! :-) Quote
GATOULIS Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 By the way, in Valentines day, I like to make poem with my girfriends name! Every letter of her name is the beggining of a line in the poem! I am writing about things we passed too.... Unfortunatelly they are in Greek! When you are writing about your love, to your love, poetry comes out without even know it! every word is a testimony of your heart! You start writing and it seems that you can not stop! A small cheap piece of paper, is turning into a precious treasure, a testimony of your soul, a vow of love! Feelings are coming like the waves of the sea! when these waves reach you, they take you to the abyss of passion! A jail that you do not want to escape! In true love, tears that may appear in eyes are not just tears! They are pure happines! Anyway...... Love is a small word with a very bid and deep meaning! Love is different to every man or woman! I am from an island, so I believe that love is like the sea! Rough or calm, sweet or bitter, deep, with mystery... It makes you feel nice, or may destroy you, but even then, you can not live without her! ;-) Nikos Quote

Frank n Beck Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 This is one we both like: True Love True love is a sacred flame That burns eternally, And none can dim its special glow Or change its destiny. True love speaks in tender tones And hears with gentle ear, True love gives with open heart And true love conquers fear. True love makes no harsh demands It neither rules nor binds, And true love holds with gentle hands The hearts that it entwines. Quote
GEO*Trailblazer 1 Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 The words that we must convey, A poem a prayer for everyday. For those I love are so many, I send this so I won't forget any. So this day I send my love, Just like Noah sent the dove. He knew that with that tiny sprout, Someone loved him without a doubt. So on this day think of all of them, And send your love with a little hymn. This one action that you start, Will someday touch every heart. Quote
