+chatmanais Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Cmon everyone - as an essential part of the hunt, your buddy (GPSr) has to have a name as an integral part of the team. I have a map 60Cs which i have named Midas. If anyone else has a similar affliction for naming inanimate objects, please let me know Quote
+pigpen4x4 Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Depends on how the hunt goes and how good a lock I have. Quote

+DoubleBogie6 Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 We named the Iways 500 in the RV "Vergie Authur". It has a penchant for taking us to graveyards. Quote
+agassiz_angel Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 I call mine Maggie Jr and Maggie Sr ... I own Magellans Quote
+JaeCee Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 I don't think the name is all that important... I named mine Slartibartfast. I told you, it wasn't important. Quote
+alanfreed Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I call mine Jeepus (pronounced "gee - pus")... just pronouncing GPS as it should be pronounced I'm always talking to it in the car while we're driving somewhere ("Jeepus won't mislead us!"). Quote
+cazray and Mrs.caz Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 We have a iQue 3600 we call joyce the voice. Quote
+DENelson83 Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I call mine simply the "you-are-here device." Quote
Hikeamble Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I would have thought there could be only one name for a GPS, Gypsy. Quote
+the hermit crabs Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 we currently have three: "mine", "yours", and "the new one". Quote
+KI4AOA Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 "Ginger" My wife says when I go geocaching, I'm going out with ginger, my girlfriend . . . She then rolls her eyes . . . Nicknamed for the british female voice on inav iguidance Quote
Point Blank Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 I call mine "my wife" because it tells me where to go and how to get there. Quote
+hikerT Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 I thought we were the only ones... Bob, Earl(named a cache after that one) and a brand new one I have not yet named. My PDA is a Sony Clie... named CLEO. Quote
+wari Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 My Treo, named Thrall, looks for the BT GPS 10x, boringly named GPS 10x Quote
sanramonhunter Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 My son calls it "The Treasure Finder" Quote
+redwing57 Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 "Gabby" She talks a lot (Garmin Zumo 550, mostly our Gold Wing guide, but works OK for caching too). The official Garmin voice file's name is "American - Jill", but we have a friend named Jill so didn't want any confusion. Quote
+Rontro Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 My HCx is named GimmyG , however my megellen is named "InTHEdrawer" cause that is where it sits now. Quote
+rain_man_rich Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 no name, but when i'm out i'm usually "gellen like a felon" Quote
+tangelus Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 I call my Garmin 76CSx "Prince Garmin", as in "Prince Charmin' ". Quote
+beerbrewer737 Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 My Vista is an American Indian, when asked which tribe it answered: "Where the Heckowee" . (Groan) My retired GPSr was named Hillary (Clinton) because I could not pin it down and was all over the map. Quote
+Redwoods Mtn Biker Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 I would have thought there could be only one name for a GPS, Gypsy. My wife wanted to name ours and I said it had to be a gypsy name. The only thing I could come up with was Zsa Zsa and it stuck. Quote
+Trucker Lee Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 I call mine "my wife" because it tells me where to go and how to get there. That's not fair. The GPS is probably inclined to be much more polite than the wife. I refer to my GPSr as "gizmo" in many logs. Quote
+Flatouts Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 IT... That's what I call it... I can blame it for misleading us, I can blame it for all DNF's, I take pride in it when we nail it dead on, I'm always looking at it or looking for it, I depend on it all the time. Quote
+Cache_advance Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Boringly enough, i just refer to mine as the Jeeps... A friend of mine once used that word when we were caching and it's stuck on me. Quote
+JegMag Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 My Trex is Yellow, the 'new' Garman is Cadillac Jack. The car Gps -- one is Sweetie -- Sweetie travels with SW (short for SirWilson, the Wranger) , the other Toots -- she is installed in Mr. Hemi -- the big Jeep. Hey, we are harmless Quote
