A longtime ago someone offered geocachers some free plastic preforms, like those used in bottle making. Please can anyone help me locate the forum topic or the cacher who offered them.

It's the base product for plastic bottles if made by blow air method. Bottles ie fizzy pop bottles start life as a preform. They look like a test tube with a screw cap, hot air is forced into it and the preform then enlarges to there desired shape/size.

I've been Googling... and whilst not finding Preforms, found this company.

Who do a nice range of Plastic and metal containers... including a box of 672 Micros for £70.... you could do a Powertrail and a half with that lot....!!

I have put a cache out in one of the PET containers.. I Infrequently work at the factory so will make some enquieries next time I am there..

For some reason the cache I put out had to be replaced as the contents got wet??

Nope, not us, we got them from the person that made the kind offer on the forum some time ago. I too have done a number of searches but cannot find the thread.

I know someone who works at a water plant near Carlisle.....atually he and his wife are now active geocachers, and he once gave me a couple of preforms for caches, which I have used. One of my caches, GCY7ZE, has piccies of one uploaded.

 

I can ask him if there are any available, if you want.
