Which 4 canals made up James Brindley's Grand cross vision?

Now lets see, canals. Ah got it

  1. The Dingwall Canal - although this is realy just the canalisation of the River Peffery for a harbour
  2. Spynie Canal - near Elgin from Loch Spynie to Lossiemouth
  3. Buchan Canal - from Inverugie to Howe of Rora
  4. Aberdeenshire Canal - Port Elphinstone to Aberdeen

Can't think of any other canals, apart from the Union, Forth-Clyde, Paisley and Johnstone and of course the Caledonian canal. Are there others? :drama:

sorry guys,

purple pinneapple got 2 out of 4 and archer got 1 out of 4.

Brindleys vision was for the canal system to link the 4 great rivers of england.

the Mersey, The Trent, The Severn and The Thames.

This was achieved just after his death by the opening of

1. the Grand Trunk canal( The trent and Mersey),

2.The Staffordshire and worcestishire canal linking the T&M near stafford, and the severn at Stourport on severn

3 the oxford canal, linking Coventry and oxford and the Thames

and

4. the coventry canal linking coventry and the trent and mersey

all these were the early phase of canal building and completed by 1780 and created a cross of waterways with the black country and birmingham at its heart.
